  1. From PAKALOU: Hello to you American friend, I would also like to upgrade from the forte III to the IV, it’s a bit expensive though! but since I blew up the tweeters with my HINT6 parasound amp, I think I really need to do it! For the moment I used JBL 2412H which sounds very good with it!! otherwise I think you have to be very careful with the phase. You need to recheck the wiring otherwise you lose all the beauty of the stereo and the bass cancels out from one speaker to another and maybe even the treble, so check your phases of the external cable but also all the internal wiring!
  2. My late wife had an early '70s Datsun 1200. Not long after she got that, I was able to get a Datsun 620 pickup (I think), maybe 1974. Those were great vehicles.
  3. It's getting harder for me to be driving after dark for sure.
  4. Wife tested positive for Covid this evening. That means I also have to stay home until this coming Thursday. If I test positive then I stay out until I'm negative for a prescribed period. I'm negative at the moment. At least we can do some work from home.
  5. @babadono don't know if you read the paper romance Peavey. If u live in a standalone home it probably won't apply, but in a building that's fed by a 208 volt transformer, this bears repeating. When we hook up audio equipment in a building that has the 120 volts required, derived from a 208 volt three phase system, we are faced with more than a 60 Hz ground loop, we end up with 60, 120, and 180 Hz ground currents, that get into the audio system. The would normally be installed in the mains panel, but could be put in a separate box in the audio room if you were careful.
  6. Those look really nice. Not quite a JBL blue, a little more subdued (unless it's the lighting). I think the finish on the birch looks fine. I have black HIIs, and keep thinking I could have them natural, but it's always a guess what's under the paint. Sometimes it's mismatched veneer. Plus, black cabinets tend to disappear after a while.
  7. This is a pic my SIL had posted (she's in Colorado Springs). They are all taking rest in her front yard.
  8. Outside of Limerick, IE a ways, in 2008, along the Shannon River, from County Clare looking across to County Tipperary.
  9. Here is the document from Peavey about a balanced electrical system. It's basically a 120 volt transformer with a center tap that the connects to the downstream ground. each of the hot wires are then 60 volts. This is worth reading. PWRDIST.pdf Are you in your own home or a in a building that has a 208 volt three phase system for the building? If so, the way the 120 line is derived could be the problem.
  10. My ST-70 had zero hum on my LS, and very little on the 2a3 amp I had. The 2a3 amps had AC balance pots for each amp, but they were still pretty quiet. You might try balanced AC... but the transformer would cost some to try. It's legal and been in the IEC regulations for years.
  11. I miss a lot of people around here.
  12. Dylan was first...
  13. I sent you a PM... (No, I'm not a urologist)
  14. You guys are makin' me feel pretty healthy. A friend of mine had his kidney stones blasted/broken up with ultrasonic. It wasn't very comfortable either.
  15. I wish I had been more with it when I was younger. I saw Albert King in Chicago in the late '60s. He was living in Memphis when I lived there in the late '70s. If I had more nerve and knew it I should have looked him up. I've met a few folks, but I should have gone out of my was to find them a reach out. Ha! It was pre internet.
  16. I have only watched the one cut with Stormy Monday. I think the whole session is on YT, though.
  17. Albert King and SRV - Stormy Monday.
  18. Yes sir, I could never afford to build the house I built 12 years ago now. No way Our house has about doubled in value over the past five years. Chattanooga has gone crazy. Where we live in north Georgia had been pretty good. We bought a rancher built in the early '60s, and paid $85k. Compared to where you live we got a deal.
  19. The bigger problem with digital recording is the way the recordings can get messed up with all the manipulation that can be done.If you used an analogue mix desk and fed it into a digital recording device today, you will get a better recording. Even Ray Charles was using digital technology late is his career, when the were remastering his material. I had an article with an engineer who worked with him and he said R.C. was fine with it. No tape alignments, no oxide issues or speed problems. Vinyl is great for being able to see the pictures on the cover and to read the liner notes. I have a collection of vinyl and keep a turntable. Like any medium, there are good to great recordings, and those that go the other way, too. I've lots of great CDs. I just hope I'll be able to always have a CD player that works.
  20. I have a friend in San Diego who runs a jazz club. I've never met his wife as I haven't seen Chuck for probably a little over 50 years. Anyway, his wife paints, does sculpture, etc. She was studying with a Japanese artist. I love her watercolors on rice paper. I've meant to ask her prices for some of these, as they would look nice in our home.
  21. I know folks have used Titebond, but other PVAs should also work. This article describes doing it: https://everyrecordtellsastory.com/2015/05/25/how-to-deep-clean-your-vinyl-records-with-wood-glue-and-ten-things-that-you-shouldnt-use-to-clean-your-lps/
  22. Did it sound better? You didn't say.
