For sale is a black Klipsch RC-64 and a pair of maple RF-7s. They're the original versions. This setup has rocked my world for the past 5 years, but I moved into a smaller place and they're just too large. The RF-7s I would sell for $750/pr. I purchased them secondhand from a kind forum member here. If I recall, I paid about a thousand for them, and they're in the same condition as when I purchased them. They have the usual dings and damage - fingers in one of the woofer cone covers, a couple of busted plastic tabs on the grills (they still stay on), and one wrinkled woofer. I heard them this way and bought them on the spot, so if the condition affects the sound, it's clearly too subtle for my ears. The cabinets look brand new. The RC-64 I would sell for $550. The woofers look (and sound) great, but there's a ding on the cabinet and a small tear in the grill. None of these things are perceptible in listening position, and doubly so when you're sitting in theatre lighting. These seem to go for $600 online, so I knocked $50 off for the cosmetic imperfections. I'm located in Seattle and wouldn't even begin to know how to ship items this bulky. Local pickup would be required. If you want to take all 3 speakers, I'd do $1250 for the bundle. Please let me know if you're interested and/or would like more pictures. Thanks for looking! Ben

Hello all, I just moved and took the opportunity to get rid of my college gear and hand-me-downs. I'm left with a pair of RF-7s (v1) and just got a great deal on a refurbished Marantz TT-15s1. I'd welcome some recommendations on the rest of the system. A few narrowing points: -I intend to use the included Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony Wood (MM) cartridge, but I could always sell it and get something else. Music will be a mix of jazz, classic rock and new indie rock/electronic. -Budget is flexible but I want to end up at the apex of the cost/performance curve. If I can get a great deal on something that I'll keep for decades and upgrade around, new or used, I'd be willing to invest. -I'm completely ignorant on cables beyond stock RCAs & copper wire. Some education would be great. -I'm thinking some tube amplification might pair nicely with the speakers, either in one stage or both. Opinions seem to differ on the best way to go. I've been looking into: Yaqin (phono & power stages) Budgie (phono) iFi SS phono mini Jolida JD9ii Emotiva MFA (Magus C phono) Decware (phono & power stages) Audible Illusions Cary Audio, McIntosh & other fantasy gear if the value prop is compelling I should also mention that I've heard little in the way of quality systems. I've gone to audition gear at a couple places and found the experience unenjoyable for various reasons. I'm just trying to read all I can. If you've heard any of the above gear, or have other suggestions, I'd like to hear what you think. Thanks in advance!

Hello all, A few years ago I bought some RF-7s. After some saving, I'm looking into upgrading the other components in my system (with a $5k max budget). I've spent hours scouring forums and reading reviews, but I'd welcome and value your opinions. I'm currently running: Technics SL-B205 turntable (inherited from mom; it needs to go) Music Hall PA 1.2 phono preamp Denon AVR-1912 receiver (also runs blu-ray & tv) RF-7s (with RC-7) So if it were you, what would you do to pair everything well and get the most bang for the buck in terms of improvement? I've looked at some Rega gear and am eyeing either the rp3 or rp6. Seems like it would pair well with the Rega Aria phono in case I want to get into MC cartridges later. I've heard that the Rega gear can be strong on the attack though, so I'm not sure if it would be a little overwhelming paired with the RF-7s. A final consideration is that I am running my system through a midrange (at best) receiver. I don't want to go too nuts with any individual components that would be stifled by the weak link. Maybe bypassing the receiver would be the way to go? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Excellent question, as I'm looking for a receiver at the moment and am seriously considering the Denon AVR-1912 as well. I like the airplay function for my iPhone since I don't have Apple TV. Here's what I'm trying to set up: -New TV yet to be purchased...will be 1080p and probably 3D. -RF-7i fronts with RC-64i center -XBOX 360 To be used 50/50 music and cable/movies. I'll add in surrounds as the cash comes in. My issue is that I may want to add an Emotiva XPA-2 at some point, and I can't find anywhere if the AVR-1912 has preouts for an amp. Sorry to piggyback on your thread Kegaroony, but I'd welcome some suggestions too.

Thanks for the responses thus far. In terms of existing equipment, I don't have a thing. I just graduated from college, am moving into a new place, and am putting all the pieces together from scratch. I figure I can either go cheap and buy something I'm going to want to upgrade later, or I can make an investment in something that's going to last me a long, long time. I'm leaning toward the latter. My budget at the moment is in the $1200-1300 range for all the componentry. I was thinking I could get the pair of RF-7s and spend the rest on a nice receiver to drive them. A 2.1 setup is fine for now (or probably a 2.nothing if I go with the RF-7s), but I'll eventually branch out into a 5 or 7 speaker surround system with a sub if needed. In terms of usage, it'll probably be split 50/50 between TV/Movies and music. I write for a music publication in my spare time, so having something that plays the full spectrum, and plays it as it was meant to be heard, is important. I do have this apartment right now, but I want to be able to take the system with me and have it function in a larger area as my means (hopefully) increase. I was thinking this was a good place to start, but I know so little that I'm open to anything at the moment.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but wanted some opinions on an audio system for the living room of my new apartment (room dimensions officially 14.5x12.9 but there is no partition to the kitchen area). Since it's an apartment, I won't be playing the system too loud. Clarity and quality of sound is my biggest priority. I have a blank slate here...what should I do? I've found a pair of immaculate original RF-7s for sale close by. Price is listed at $900 for the set, but I'd like to see if I could get them for $800. Would this be a solid pick up, or is it better to go in a different direction? What receiver would complement this pair nicely? I've heard the horns can be a little bright. Would I need an amplifier? If the RF-7s are a bad idea for this space, what else would work? I'm going to be combing the used market for deals, but I'd like some opinions as to what to look out for.
