  1. Surely it is!!! Its that or nothing... Also - I found a gent on ebay(from Russia) who will be CNCing me a set of reproduction badges similar to the 70th anniversary style. I contacted Klipsch and they don't have any...
  2. Hope Y'all don't mind - but I'm just going to keep updating this thread as I work on the K-Horns... I'll get some detail pics soon, but I started piecing the hats together today. Several angle brackets got the sides attached and then I test fit the top and grille. I also installed all teh side covers. Planning to continue with small angle brackets and screws and once its all back together, then I'll glue where the breaks occurred. Pics: Horns with TV and AV rack before: With right side hat installed and sides installed:
  3. I'll do a side by side comparison when we are back in the house full time...
  4. Got the drivers installed and first listens today... Pulling the Original K33's (Look to be as mint as they come) All drivers and x-overs installed: After initially trying with a small radio shack amp, and realizing it was in poor shape (mids were buzzy) - I pulled my old Marantz AVR our of storage and we started going through apple music on my phone... A couple of tunes gave me chills... the bass is SO tight and powerful.. very smooth... This is going to be a lot of fun! P.S. - Yes the cabinets show a lot of ugliness - I'm going to get working on that next. It turns out the original owners grandson was trying to move them and lifted them by the top-hats - tearing the trim off in several places. Once I have some more time and some small angle brackets, I'm going to glue and screw it all back together and replace the grille cloth also...
  5. I had LaScalas (and Electrovoice Sentry’s) in the same space and loved it... definitely takes some tweaking of the laser-precise sweet spot though.. probably will need to shim the back of the top-hats as the chair is low and not on-axis with the tweets... TV will be going up a bit too... That wall is 9’ by the way. Chair will be just outside the triangle at around 6’..
  6. K-Horns R Big... Really big.. hehehehehe... Not ready to play them yet - just got the bass bins back into the cabinets and top hats installed and in the den where they belong. With any luck, tomorrow I'll start replacing drivers and do a test listen.
  7. With any luck they will finally be in the house in a day or two....
  8. Wow... more like given away... ohhh well.
  9. Not all - I did wiggle a few connections to no avail... I will be going through them in more detail when I do the swap.... it was about 90 degrees and 90% humidity, so I just spent enough time to decide that I wanted to update the drivers and figured I'd dig into details later.. We will be back in our house in a week or two, and that will be my first project. Once I go through them and get resistance measurements, etc.. I'll list the components here in the garage sale area most likely...
  10. Just wondering if she ever sold these? I'm pretty close to her if she needs someone to take more pics, or help out somehow...
  11. Got a chance to finally hook them up in the garage and test drivers... Tweeters were blown. Midrange was mushy/bleary as was the bass - I suspect crossover (original caps are surely not to spec) and failing diaphragms.. After several hours debating I decided to do the only logical thing. Order all new drivers from Mr. Crites and a set of his type "A/4500" crossovers... So I have the following on order: CT120 tweeters A55G midrange drivers CW1526C Cast woofers New midrange driver to horn gaskets I figured they deserve the royal treatment, plus I really want them back to 100% condition. I plan to resell the original components to recoup some of the cost of the updates.
  12. Lol! Took me a sec! Yes - we were very lucky! It’s a blessing in disguise - all the renovations we wanted are getting done for free! All told, about $90k in total damage to house and contents.
  13. Turns out he had to leave town Saturday, so I decided to strike while iron was hot so to speak... I'm a total audio geek - I stupidly sold a set of LaScala's several years ago and have been chasing that sound ever since... I never imagined having K-Horns, so this is a bit of a dream come true. I've been trying to get him to sell me these (or trade) for about three years, so when he was open to the idea, there was no way I was letting them get away! ..and also being a nostalgia nut, these really fit what I was looking for. I'd rather have a vintage set than a brand new set any day. I'm just sad they have to live in the garage for a couple weeks until the house is ready (See my other thread about the drunk driver that crashed into our home for details).. We will be doing work over there on Sunday, so I'll take a small amp and give them a listen when the wife isn't looking!
  14. One more... They've got the round magnet K77.. sorry its blurry, I was looking at the midrange.
  15. Ohhh Folks - this is a SCORE!!! Turns out - These are pristine Decorators that slide into a trim "sleeve"... only about 10 screws hold them in.. Because they were inside the trim all these years, the paint is perfect... and looks like its fresh from the store.. I know, Pics or it didn't happen... Loaded up: Pullin them out... and notice that they will come free from the trim: ....and out they come: Here we are - decorators next to their clothes.. Just a couple chips on the front panels - and the top hats were notched for the trim pieces... but other than that - factory fresh.. Sequential Serials: I'm so geeked!!! I'll be putting them in the den once our remodel is done - minus the trim so I can take my time repairing it.
  16. I hit the road in 10 minutes to go pick them up.... I feel like a kid on Christmas!
  17. I had planned on new crossovers regardless - but good point - I know those old oil filled caps are not a good thing. Here are some pics of the crossovers - He snapped a few last night.. 20180523_231712 by Christopher Purdy, on Flickr 20180523_231707 by Christopher Purdy, on Flickr 20180523_231700 by Christopher Purdy, on Flickr
  18. I'll definitely get in touch! I'm a worry wart by nature - so that rears its ugly head at times... Not too much angst, no worries!! The buddy I'm getting them from knows his stuff so I shouldn't have worried...
  19. Aaahhhh I can sleep tonight... more pics tomorrow, but he sent this... they are decorators...
  20. Probably - I did already paypal him the $$ this evening. But we've done audio deals together for years and he's a stand up guy. Funny thing is, I saw them three years ago and simply can't remember them now... at the time he wasn't interested in selling and I did't have the cash regardless...
  21. Another pic - possibly decorators with trim added... the top hat seems recessed at the same level as the front panel.. KIMG0137 by Christopher Purdy, on Flickr Of course my friend is offline now so I can sweat about this tonight... lol!
  22. Luckily my buddy is pretty savvy in audio and I doubt he'd miss a knockoff... But I'll be a lot happier when i see a pic of that PWK logo on some drivers.
