  1. Wow............All of this structual talk is cool and all, but what I like about posting questions here is that even though this is a KLIPSCH board, alot of the guys here have heard and tested alot of products that I don't have access to or couldn't afford to try. Some of my purchases are based soley on these opinions, not just a few but many. and when several experienced audiofile types agree on something. it is usually a safe bet to at least try. so far EVERY piece of equiptment I am listning to I love. Denon 3802, Klipsch RF7's and RC7 . Klipsch in rear and Klipsch sub and just got a bug to upgrade subs. enclosers, specs and db levels arn't as solid to me as when some one has actually heard and compared these side by side or owned them . I appreciate all opinions, good or bad............keep them comming thanks.
  2. Ok guys, I'm upgrading my KSw-15 (which I am almost satisfied with ) to RSW-15 or SVS 20-39 pc+ . any one compared the RWS to SVS, not counting the big bad duel ultras............ Oh..... yea..... mains are RF7's and room is 28 x 18. I could live with the KSW but want a little more punch. thanks This message has been edited by johnny24c on 09-07-2002 at 06:31 PM
  3. I am now using a KSW15 sub and was thinking of upgrading. Using RF7's for mains. Has anyone compared the HSU VTF3 to the RWS15 ? the reviews seem really good and it seems to cost half as much. Or can a 250watt 12" sub even compare to a 2400 watt 15" Klipsch?
  4. Now that they have been out for a while is the WDST type speakers like the RS-7 better for surround than the direct speakers?????? . If I use the RS-7 I can go rear or side . If I go with the RCW-5, They have to go behind, because of wall thickness. But take up alot less space. I am using RF-7,RC-7 for front Plus the rs-7 don't have the same horn/tweeter as the rc and rf 7. So wouldn't the RCW-5 sound just as good for a lot less $$$$$$. I,m sure some of you guys have compared these types of speakers. thanks. Oh yea... room is 17 X 24 with about 5ft behind the couch to back wall. 5. Just got mine today....pretty cool.
  6. I went with the Denon 3802...... Can't say much just yet . lots of adjusting and modes to play with and get used to.
  7. Well, after reading reviews and specs and opions from the board ( and lots of them ) I have ordered the DENON 3802 from Crazy Edie for $729 plus shipping. I think that is a really good deal. Thanks Guys.........
  8. Mike Lindsey........... sway all you want. that is why I ask these questions. ALL opinios are welcome and appreciated, especially by people who actually own this stuff and comparred it. This is how I decideded on my RF-7's RC-7 and really like them. I never go by the opinion of just one pearson, but when a majority agree on something it is usally a safe bet. Thanks
  9. I know Harman Kardon is and the Outlaw, but what about thw Denon and Onkyo ?
  10. So far it looks like Denon is recommended as a majority vote. the only thing I have heard bad so far is the remote is lacking in many areas. for the people who actualy own this, what about the remote ?
  11. Soundog..... You sure stand behind that Outlaw of yours. Have you actually compared it to others like the Denon 3802 or Onkyo 797 or HK 520?
  12. Can someone tell me how much noticable difference there is in the new DAC. The Outlaw 1050 and the Dennon 3802 use the 96/24 , and the Harmon Kardon 520 and Onkyo 797 use the 192/24. Should this be one of the decideing factors when deciding between these recievers ?
  13. I have borrowed a Harmon Kardon avr5 until I decide on my new one and have to admit it sounds really good for something that is rated at only 35wpc. sounds better than my Sony 825 I just sold for sure. but I have never heard the Denon or Onkyo yet.
  14. Thanks for the advice so far guys....My purchase has been put off untile thursday, So please keep them comming. I know listning would be best, but I don't have any of these close enough to demo. that would make things alot easier. So I am counting on THE BOARD. I don't want to upgrade again for a long time. Like 5 years............
  15. I am for sure ordering one of these recievers tomorrow.Harmon kardon 520, denon 3802 or Onkyo 797. I have Klipsch RF-7,RC-7,KSW-15 and soon RS-7. 50% music, 50% movies. want the best of both. I am interested in detail and good base at moderate listning levels. and how much difference does the 192/24 hz converter have over the 96/24 hz. any opions at all greatly apreatiated. thanks This message has been edited by johnny24c on 02-19-2002 at 12:10 AM
  16. Man......... I just ordered RF7's and RC7 to replace my Cornwalls, You guys are starting to put serious doubts in my mind. At least I will get a chance to compare them side by side. I figure that they should sound at least as good. Plus I really wanted a perfect matching center for HT and I like the new look of tall instead of wide and short. One thing I can say is TO ME the cornwalls do not blow my cf-4's away like I thought they would and the Base sounds better and tighter on the cf-4's. I do not have tubes or real high end equiptment, just a Sony 825 right now. These will be the first "NEW" speakers I have ever bought. I only paid $500 for the CF-4's. and the RF-7's are $1600 delivered This huge difference in price. The one thing that does stick out is the fact that the Cornwalls cost me $1000 (in trade not cash) and they are 20 years old, so they definately hold their value better than anything else I have had. The cf-4's retailed for $2500. so I wonder how the reference will be at in 5 to 10 years ? sorry for rambling on.........
  17. My main concern is spending $1750 (shipped) for the RF7's when I haven't had a chance to compare them to my CF4's ,which sound pretty good to me and are slightly bigger than the RF7's. If they do sound that much better than the CF4's then I have no problem, but if not I would be sick. Would the CF4's work good for rears, they are both rated at 102db ?
  18. which would be a better deal for home theater ?????? I can get RF5 and a KSW15 for about the same price as the RF7. since the sub handles the low freq and makes everything sound bigger would there really be that big of a difference in the 7 over 5 ? I have already ordered the RC7 for center from sounddistributors which was supposed to be here yesterday. I haven't actually been able to hear the Reference line yet so am depending on the experience of the board. Thanks in advance This message has been edited by johnny24c on 01-05-2002 at 05:17 PM
  19. These two subs can be had for almost the same amount.... So which one would be the best sounding sub for a set of RF5's for HT
  20. LOL....... Thanks thejson , That is definatly a factor. My 60" RCA is already very tall and the Heresy on top just looks out of place.
  21. Yes..... Cornwalls and Heresy's, both around 1980 models. I haven't had them long and am still experimenting whith them and the CF4's wich I got almost at the same time by some trading and stumbling across some bargins. KV1 center and IW100's for surround. I am just wanting to settle down with a system and not have to upgrade for a long time.... Thanks for the replies so far
  22. OK..... I already have CF4's and Cornwalls that I am trying to decide between right now with a KV1 center. I want to upgrade my center, And Today when I called KLIPSCH they said that the reference center speakers would work fine with my CF4's. So I was thinking that if that was true, It might be the best one to get in case I ever wanted to upgrade to the RF5's or RF7's later on. This is mainly because it is very difficult to get ahold of a KV4 which is the perfect center for this speaker.
  23. OK..... I know alot of people are going to ask what you are trying to match makes the difference, since the center is so important in HT , but what if you are starting with the center first ? would the RC7 sound better than the KLFC7 head to head ?
  24. wouldn't the RF5 match the RC7 better because the components are the same size ? all would have 8 inch woofers and same size horn across the front.
