  1. Benton, I'm glad you're enjoying them! I wish I could've heard the "Lobby Scene" from The Matrix thru them one time! Let them break-in a bit and then see if some of the Heritage guys up there can help solve your hiss problems. I'm sure that you'll have many years of pleasure from them! Mike
  2. Sunfire Cinema Grand! Not sure of current pricing-- might check out www.sunfire.com -- but I've never been disappointed with Carver's new stuff!
  3. The LaScalas are gone!! Off to the land of Beer and Cheese (Wisconsin for all you non midwesterners.) Thanks to all who expressed interest and support! For now, I still have my Quintets... and I'm sure I'll get something a little bit larger once we all get moved into the new house. Thanks again, folks. Old Married Guy-- formerly the Partaymon!
  4. XMAN: If the deal falls through, I'll post them back up-- but right now it looks pretty good. I'll let everybody know the outcome. Mike
  5. Hey guys! Thanks for all the interest and support. I've tried to reply to all of the e-mails and PMs-- my job keeps me on the road and makes it difficult to check my computer msg.s every day. I think the LaScalas have found a home! One of the board members I have been talking to has said that he'd like to take them home on Friday. I respect everyone's privacy, so I won't mention who it is-- but he might very well post about it himself! (Hard to keep that kind of happy news to yourself!) I'll let everyone know the outcome this weekend. Mike.
  6. Thanks for the support, Bill. And NO, Tankhokie (sp?).... these are NOT out of a white van. (Yes, I'm familiar with the scam.) Sadly, they were purchased with grand ambition, but 'tis not to be. Somebody needs to give them a good home!
  7. Just bumping this back to the top. $5,500 for ALL FIVE! C'mon, fellas; I'd rather sell them to someone on the board than put them on EBAY! I'll be out of town for a few days, but any questions PM me and I'll get back to you. Mike
  8. I have a set of five factory-sealed LaScalas in Black Lacquer for sale in Indiana. For more info, look for the same-titled post under the General Questions section. Thanks, folks!
  9. Folks, it's a sad day for me. My LaScalas have to go... and I never even unpacked them from their shipping crates! In climate-controled storage for the past 10 months have been 5 Black Lacquer LaScalas. These were originally intended for a custom HT system, but it never came to pass. Now they have to go. I wanted to list them here, before putting them on EBAY. (At least here, everyone knows what they are, what they're capable of, and has an idea of what they're worth.) New MSRP is $2,000 per speaker, and as I said, I've never opened the crates. While they are technically not new, they are certainly as mint as you could possibly hope for! I'm hoping for $7,000 for the set of 5, but I'll consider a reasonable offer of less. I would like to sell them as a set, but I will consider splitting them up, if necessary. They are located in Terre Haute, IN. If you are located reasonably close, I might consider delivering them. (It would take me at least two trips, unless I rent a van or box truck.) The Holidays are coming up; if you've ever wanted an awesome Heritage HT setup at a great price, here's your chance! You folks get first crack at 'em-- if there isn't any interest here, they'll have to go on EBAY by the weekend. Send me a Private Message if interested.

  11. Bill H: You can see 'em anytime! As I stated earlier, I've never opened the crates. Currently, they're in storage in a friend's garage-- much better for them than out in my barn!) My job keeps my on the road quite a bit, but I'm usually home on Sundays. PM or e-mail me and we'll get together. E-mail is: partaymon@yahoo.com
  12. BUMP!! Back up to the top! C'mon guys-- is $7,500 too much? Should I split 'em into pairs? Should I advertise them as a "stacked system" with one speaker in reserve? I need some input here! Remember, I bought these six months BEFORE I got married! Now the old lady says they gotta go... and in the interest of marital bliss, I told her I'd see about selling them. (Remind me to change my moniker from "Partaymon" to "Old Married Guy!"
  13. The speakers are in Terre Haute, IN. Approx. 1 hour from Indy, 3 hours from Louisville, Ky., 3 1/2 hours from St. Louis, and 3 1/2 hours from Chicago. Right in the heart of corn country!
  14. Hey All!! I haven't been around for awhile... too busy adjusting to getting married, moving, and changing jobs all at once! Anyway, folks, I've got a question: I have a set of five matching LaScalas. They were intended for use in a 5.1 system in a large Great Room. However, by the time I took delivery of them, both my job and my housing plans changed-- along with my marital status-- so I put them in storage for the past year. Here's the kicker-- they're BRAND NEW! (I never uncrated them after delivery-- the cartons are still sealed!) Four of the five have sequential serial #s; all are finished in high gloss Piano Black Lacquer, without grill cloth. Anyway, having sold my previous house, and then changed plans as far as building the new one, I now have absolutely no place to put them! I know that new Retail is apprx. $2k each. I also know that I had to wait six months for delivery of mine. However, the chance to sell all five as a set would be a highly motivating factor on my part! So what d'ya think, folks? Would $7,500 be unreasonable?
  15. Dude! I quite possibly have your solution! (I was just about to post an inquiry in general topics about this.) I have a set of five matching LaScalas. They were intended for use in a 5.1 system in a large Great Room such as you have described. Unfortunately, both my job and my housing plans changed-- so I put them in storage for the past year. Here's the kicker-- they're BRAND NEW! (I never uncrated them after delivery-- the cartons are still sealed!) Four of the five have sequential serial #s; all are finished in high gloss Piano Black Lacquer, without grill cloth. I intend to make some inquiries as to what I should ask for them. I know that new Retail is apprx. $2k each. I also know that I had to wait six months for delivery of mine. However, the chance to sell all five as a set would be a highly motivating factor on my part! Shoot me a PM or e-mail if interested--
  16. I've got a question, folks-- I'm thinking about upgrading my DVD player; I'm looking at the NAD T-571... for a few reasons. One, I'd like to consolidate some of my components,-- and the NAD is well rated for playing CDs as well as DVDs. Two, I currently own a NAD CD player, a 5170, and while it's a dinosaur, it still gives pretty good service, even after years of drunken partyin' abuse! However, having recently gotten married, I also have to consider my wife's opinion. She would like to consolidate components as well-- but wants a combo DVD/VCR. Personally, I haven't seen any combo units out there that seemed worth spit; only low-end units at Wal-Mart, Circuit City, and the like. However, I'm open to suggestions. Anybody know of a combo unit out there that will give decent service on video tapes and DVDs, AND has decent CD playback as well? I know I'm probably chasing my own tail here, but as I said, I'm open to suggestions.
  17. Hey James. There may be hope for ya-- I PM'ed BobG awhile back about my LaScalas. He told me to expect them by 12-30. Lo and behold, guess what showed up today?!? Santy Claus, wearin' bib overalls and drivin' a container truck! (I got a call from my local store owner about 11 this morning, telling my to come over and have the driver follow me out to my house, so I wouldn't have to make two trips in my shortbed! Damn decent of him-- I even tipped the driver for his effort.) Unfortunately for me, the timing of all this really sucks... I'm getting married Friday. And I received an offer on my house over the weekend. I didn't even bother to unpack the shipping cartons; If I'm going to be moving in a month or so, they'll just have to go into storage until Tina and I get settled. Oh well-- at least they're here. If Bob said that yours are on the way, they probably are. Good luck!
  18. I bought mine back in May, James,-- the 7th, I believe. Hopefully they've trained the newbies well, and the new product will be up to the standards we expect. ---- HDBR-- What happened?? I thought that Klipsch asked you back to help with the backlog?!?
  19. Hey James! I PMed BobG-- he said that my LaScalas were going to be built between 12-16 and 12-20, and should be at my house by 12-30. Hopefully your Belle(s) will be coming along as well.
  20. Mr. Watkins (I'm asuming...) I sincerely hope that Tina and I have that kind of future ahead of us. She has been extremely tolerant of my "hobbies" over the years. I have a number of interests that she doesn't share-- audio and home theater, shooting, deep sea fishing and mortorcyclying (My passion is motorcycles... 'sporting' motorcycles, not to put too fine a point on it--- several of her uncles ride Harleys and she just... can't... quite... see... why I like to be able to drag a knee in the twisty bits.) Oh well. She allows me to indulge my hobbies, and tolerates my obsession. Although when I expressed an interest in roadracing (in the Novice Class, of course,-- she was quick to point out that broken bones don't heal that quickly when one's pushing 40! ) Horn Ed! Ed... I know,... after reading your numerous, poignant, thought-provoking, and heartfelt posts... what you, and those close to you are going through because of your illness. Tina and I have both lost family members before their time; I have only this advice: Take that motorhome of yours and go wherever the winds might whisper! Choose 'Carpe Diem!' as your battle cry! Go out and travel! Travel to the ends of the Earth and back! (Or at least to few choice stops along the way-- my favorite being Key West for Marlin fishing... followed by a few tasty beverages with friends, of course! )
  21. "Sullivan" by Caroline Spine; "Closer" by NIN, "Bring It On" by Seal, "Love In An Elevator" by Areosmith, "Right Now" by Van Halen.... just to name a few.
  22. Big Bean... you can go with what William said.. get her the Bose plus some CDs and she'll be happy. Or.. you can get her one of the (less garish, more tatsteful) "boombox/ shelf systems" out there, and she'll STILL probably be happy, the music will sound the same, and you will have saved mucho $$$. OR... you could get her an NAD L-40 system. It is a small NAD receiver/ CD player combo with a pair of PSB Alpha speakers. (PSB Alphas are similar to the old Synergy Line KSB 1.1s) If you're friendly with your audio dealer, you might even be able to swap the PSBs for the new SB-1s at the same price-- around $700 for the complete system full list/ less if you negotiate/ $300-$400 mint on Ebay. Just a thought. The unit is quite small, there would be two small speakers on short leads, and the remote is simplicity, itself! Good luck, and best wishes for the approaching Holidays!
  23. 46 points... after a sufficient number of beers to be considered "socially lubricated."
  24. Wow, folks! Some interesting opinions out there! Just for the record, I am aware that the KSPs are discontinued product... in fact, I used to be employed at this particular audio store when they were current. The owner and I know each other well. There would be other equipment included in my swap, if I choose to do it-- enough to make the exchange more than fair. As it is, however, I've been doing a lot of thinking about why I chose the LaScalas in the first place, what equipment I presently own, and what my options might be for the next couple of years. I think I'll be keeping the LaScalas. I already have a KLFC7 center and a pair of KSPS6 surrounds, so I could use a single pair of the LaScalas as mains and be quite happy for awhile. The others will just have to wait in storage for a time. I appreciate all the advice... including the musings of RJB and VDBO...(Tina and I have a long history, guys. We've known each other for over 12 years, and have a ten-year-old daughter. We're also a little older now-- I was 24 and she was 19 when we met-- so our perspectives have changed, somewhat.) I think that I just needed a sounding board-- selling a home, getting married, --(and getting laid off from work)-- all in the same timeframe is pretty stressful! Thanks, All! And happy listening!
