  1. I guess the subject says it all. Looking for a single Forte' I to use as a center. Have an Academy but am getting ready to build a ht room and would be great to have three Fortes' across the front. Austin
  2. Just as an FYI, with Salamander Designs Senergy Series you can get a custom height riser for their Twin and Triple series so you can make it high enough to accomodate ANY center chanel speaker. (not affiliated with Salamander, yada yada yada.) By the way, your stand DOES look georgous! Here is a link to their Twin series page: http://salamanderdesigns.com/syn/twins.jsp
  3. Thanks for the replies guys!!! I just may try it as I could sell the C-7 and get one of these and still have enough money to take the little lady out to dinner. Then she won't complain when I find a Walnut Academy.
  4. Resurecting the dead! [] Is anyone still using a SC1 with thier Fortes? I am currently using a C7 and it is just too bright with my Forte Is. I have used (and sold) everything from an Academy, a KV4, a KT-LCR and a KV3 with my Fortes over the years and the best was, of course, the Academy. I am currently looking for a walnut Academy in good condition but was wondering if people were still using/getting good results with their SC1. Thanks, Austin
  5. If you are not worried about 3D then you can't go wrong with a Panasonic plasma. I have two (54" an 42") and love them. I would suggest a TC-P65V10. http://www.onecall.com/product/Panasonic/TC-P65V10/Plasma-TV/_/R-98920 $2499.00 with free shipping.
  6. I have not been on here much in the past few years, but seeing your name (m00n) is a blast from the past. Anyway, you do not need to spend a lot on HDMI cables. One of the best places to get them is Monoprice.com. Any highspeed HDMI cable will work just fine. 28 gauge will work fine unless you are talking about a long run (25 ft or more) here is a link: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240
  7. And said board created a quantifiable audible difference in the 22khz + range. [] sorry, couldn't resist. [6] BTW, Mr. Crites, I will be calling you next week about sending my Forte I crossovers to you for a redo along with getting three titanium tweeters (one for a KLF-C7). Also, with what I am doing, is it advisable to redo the crossover in the C7 as it is not as old as the original Fortes'? How good were the components in those when new? The reason I ask is that you have stated many times that the components in the Forte crossovers were somewhat sub-par to begin with. Thanks in advance, Austin
  8. Excellent point...I'll have to remember that. well, heck.....I thought everyone knew that!!!!!![8-|] Must be a suther'n thang!!!!! []
  9. Will the real DeanG [8]please stand up, please stand up, please stand up........[8]
  10. Sorry to jump in here but I have a similar situation. I have a pair of Forte 1s that I am going to upgrade. I don't consider myself an audiophile by ANY means. Does anyone know if there is much difference in getting Mr. Crites to build all new crossovers or just sending in my networks to be recapped. I know that all new ones would get the network off of the back of the terminal cap but am really just curious about how much of an improvement in sound a totally new network would be. I do plan on getting the titanium tweeter diaphrams as well. Really just wondering if I need to spend the extra $135. I could use that extra money to replace the crossover in my KLF-C7 and get a new titanium tweeter diaphram for it as well. Thanks, Austin
  11. There are a few around here. Not sure who carries Klipsch now but there used to be a store called Sound Vision on GT road in the same shopping center as Natalies Liquor store. (GT Rd and Macon.) They then moved to Fisher Steel Rd before they closed. They handled Klipsch, Energy, Mirage, Krell, Parasound, Pioneer Elite amongst others. I know one guy in Collierville (where I work for First Tennessee Bank) that has a RF3 set up and there is a guy out off of Reed Hooker that has a full 5.1 Forte/Academy set up. I have Forte Is up front with a KLF C7 center and KSP-S6 surrounds. Have had Klipsch since I first heard CF1s in a store in Jackson, TN back in 1996. They blew me away compared to the Polk speaker I was comparing them to. Never found a need to change to another brand since. BTW if you ever go to the Outlaw Audio boards, one of the main contributors to that board is someone by the "name" of Gonk. He is from Memphis too. Pretty neat to see others from the same (red) []neck of the woods.
  12. Here is another option that you may want to consider: Get a decent receiver and a three channel power amp to run the front speakers. The reason why I say this is that you can use the receiver to handle the rear speakers where the loads are not as large and your receiver is not trying to handle all five channels. The reason why I suggest this is that receivers can still be used a pre/pros as long as they have chanel outputs. Also, you will find that new features usually lag behind on pre/pros as apposed to their receiver counterparts. Just my $.02 BTW, welcome to the forum from a fellow West Tennesseer. [Y]
  13. Didn't want to hijack Hudson's Yamaha 1900 thread but was wondering if anyone has had a chance to see/listen to this new line from Yamaha. I know that they are really new but one thing really intreagues me: HDMI standby pass-through allows HDMI switching without powering up receiver. If I read this correctly you should be able to feed all of your HDMI equiped components to the receiver and it will somehow switch them in standby whey you just want to watch tv/play xbox/watch a kids dvd without turning on the entire system. This would be great for my situation as I don't want the wife and kids to have to turn on the whole system for everyday playing/watching but be able to play xbox with the 5.1 system on or watch tv/movie with the 5.1 system on as well. It is my understanding from reading that the more recent Yamaha receivers are a little less "bright" and are a better match with Klipsch than they were considered in the past. Looking to replace an older Pioneer Elite receiver that doesn't have HDMI (55TXi).
