  1. Well, I guess I'm an idiot because I thought World was a great movie. It was a far better sequel to the original than either 2 & 3 were. Any movie about Dinosaurs being alive on an island requires a certain amount of suspension from reality. If we want to take things literally...we watch documentaries.
  2. Lol. Well, Dave, at least he'll give you a quick c note for your CF4s. I'd probably just have to donate my 3s since they're not worth anything. Guess we've been drastically overestimating the price on these. From now on we better let folks know the new pricing. CF4 v1 is 100, v2 75 v3 and all other CF...worthless.
  3. Great center and perfect match for the CF-3s. Another that may work is the KLF C7...but, it's worth holding out for the KV-4 since it's the center that was designed for the larger Epics. Good luck with your search, they pop up from time to time, though it can take a while.
  4. RIP Was great in a mostly forgetable Die Hard 2.
  5. Dave is dead on. The parts generally sit on ebay for quite a while while the speakers I've seen come across usually sell without much trouble. Maybe you can squeeze a couple extra bucks by parting them out, but you could be waiting a lot longer to do so...and it's no guarantee. Your speakers for sure, but my $0.02 would be to try and sell them as complete speakers rather than part them out.
  6. Ebay is probably your friend on this one. I've seen the drivers going for around $100 most of the time. Crossovers are also in that ballpark. Been a while since I've seen either the horns or compression drivers though. You'll want to be sure you specify which version also...as crossovers are different in each of the 3. Woofers will be different in version 3. No luck selling them as complete speakers?
  7. +1 Well said. Bring a good disk and demo the whole system...then make your decision based on what you hear and what you think sounds good.

    What I Got Today!

I bought my Denon 4520 from them several months ago. Great customer service. The first unit arrived and worked for about 15 minutes before continuously power cycling. A4L sent out a return label and another unit right away. The 2nd unit was destroyed by FedEx in transit, arriving with a rather large hole in the side of the box and with the side of the unit caved in. A4L had FedEx out first thing the next day to pick up the unit...after which, I decided to step up to a brand new unit, rather than a refurb just due to the longer warranty (and an excellent price). New unit arrived from A4L and has been perfect. Excellent customer service each time I had to talk to them.
  9. If your reciever is miscalibrating the RC 62, it very likely will also do the same with the RC 64. Just some food for thought...
  10. Did you run the room calibration software when setting everything up? I've had the RC-62 in a space that's just a touch larger than yours and it should easily keep up. As others have said, you'll need to calibrate to match the center with the levels of your mains. A good SPL meter, and/or running the calibration software should help in that regard. Edit: Just saw your wanted to buy on a RC64...so, I guess this is all a moot point.
  11. That is how mine works. Audyssey gives you the results from your last test, while manual keeps your adjusted settings. It's handy in case you want to go back and tweak directly from your last Audyssey settings (if you suspect you hosed something up in your manual tweaks).
  12. Great story! Congratulations on a beautiful baby girl!
  13. No issues with my Denon 4520...works perfect on both wifi and a hardline.
  14. Watched Jurassic World last night. Audio was outstanding, as was PQ. Great movie to give the system a workout.
  15. Good news, for sure. Thoughts and prayers for the coming months as it will surely be challenging and filled with small milestones.
  16. I'm with Bill & Dave...something doesn't sound right with your current Denon. "Shrill and high" are not typical for a Denon sound, which leads me to believe that Audyssey either didn't set something correctly or there is another issue. It might be worth it to rerun Audyssey a few times and see what kind of settings it's coming up with and whether they're consistent. We can throw out the recommendations for the gear we own all day, but if it's a setup issue, or something in the room that's causing the issue a new AVR may not be the magic elixir. Just my $0.02...
  17. You should be fine with whatever you choose...based on the commercials, all of them have the basics bones and power of a race car. They also can weave through all of the traffic with ease, and can avoid it by using their proprietary GPS to find a street that has no other cars on it. If anything, you chould now be able to get to work in far less time than you ever did before. Plus, if you buy a truck, it will be able to drive through fire, tow the Statue of Liberty up a 12 mile steel helix ramp, and beat the school bus to the school. A win-win, if you ask me...
  18. Almost every car commercial. In fact they're all pretty much the same... "Look at our car...it can do what every other car can do...only ours is better..." Ugh...no creativity at all.
  19. Been using BitDefender for several years and been happy with it. Does not slow down the computer like McAfee/Norton used to. At the time I first got it, it was getting really high marks from the usual places. Plus, my brother works in IT and recommended it as a good solution.
  20. Gotta watch Back to the Future II today...will probably sneak in the first one too.
  21. If only my car could fly and I had a hoverboard...
  22. Duck and cover...another speaker wire question!
  23. This is solved through setting of the cross-over. Bill is right, play with the crossover setting for your center until it's where you want it to be...assuming you have a subwoofer to pick up the bass. When you're setting your crossover, you're telling the reciever/or pre the level at which lower frequency sound is passed to the subwoofer. Setting your mains to large will essentially send the entire signal to the mains - whether they can reproduce it or not. None of the signal sent to the mains will be crossed over to the subwoofer. This is not ideal, as a good quality sub is designed to dig significantly lower than your mains are...but, again, play with these settings and decide for yourself what sounds best to your ears.
  24. Thoughts and prayers with him and his family.
