  1. I'm not knocking the build, just not something I know a lot about. I think the guy who built them did a good job. And all. I also think there are many people who like to troll the internet when someone asks an innocent question.
  2. I paid a little more, but I also got a C7 center, rs7 sides, sw 12, and the towers. Not all forums are as friendly or as helpful as this one. That's why I came over here to ask, just took a minute to reset my password.
  3. I appreciate the help in identification of the parts and what I purchased. Sometimes buying from Craigslist will get interesting results. I posted this question on another forum and was told they were junk and to update to something else. Looks like I'll be switching them with the stock ones to try and A/B them.
  4. Would the individual have just known what to use and then built it? Gotten the wiring schematic and done it themselves or is there a kit? The guy was from Central Ohio, not sure if he happened to know someone. Glad to hear they are good components, I'll have to hook them up again and see what they can do. Thanks.
  5. I recently acquired a set of used KLF 20 speakers. While putting then into the car I hear a loud sound and realize the crossovers were in the bottom on the speaker not attached to anything. Upon further investigation, the crossovers are not stock since I have another set of 20's at home. I am not an electrical engineer, so I'm not sure if they are just a DIY job or from a reputable crossover builder. I would like to know if it is a DIY job, if they choose "good components" or if there is something I could change to make them better. I have only a limited time listening to the new speakers but they didn't sound bad when they were on. I removed the tweeters but the divers look to be stock other than the crossovers.

They are having a warehouse sale right now. Got my mini x for $150 to the door. Sounds great with the Klfs.
  7. Are those lascala tops with bass bins? That would be an awesome movie theater on the side of a house or at a bonfire. Sounds like i can use this amp or just sell it and get some type of head unit. I have seen some with remotes that are inexpensive. Now to start craigslisting for parts. Thanks for the help!
  8. I was looking at a newegg ps that was 12 v at 26 amps. I would think since the speakers are efficient, that the demand would be low enough to get away with the lower amp rating. I do like the idea of a $10 trickle charger, battery, and head unit. I'll need to mull over keeping the amp or sellling it and using the money for the other idea. Thsnks for the quick response!
  9. I was cleaning out my basement and came across a JL Audio 300/4 amp. I have not permanently hooked up my AW 400 speakers other then to test them. My questions is, can I use a computer power supply to power the amp, hook that into the amp for power, and then power the AW400 speakers. The power supply and amp would be under the lanai and in something water proof. I would think the 75 watts the amp can provide would be plenty to make the speaker sing. Thanks
  10. 2nd Yellow foam that was stuffed behind the woofers
  11. I just recently purchased a set of KLF 20s and noticed one of the cabinets makes a rattle at louder levels. I took some pictures of 1X1 pieces of wood glued in the corners. The foam is different in both cabinets as one has yellow foam stuffed in it, and the other has grey foam that seems to have been placed and cut around. Second question has to do with the crossovers. Is it the stock crossover? Thanks for the help ahead of time, Chris pic brace behind the upper 10" woofer
  12. I went and looked at the KLF 20s today. They are black finish with a few dings and dents. The sides have a few marks were the black finish has rubbed off. The grills looked to be in good shape with all posts intact. They are asking $500 but she said that they are motivated to sell. I did knock on the sides and back to see if it was solid and everything seemed ok. The seller gave me a few funny looks while i was rapping on it to see if it was solid or coming apart. I was able to remove or adjust all the rear baffles. $500 seems a little steep for these but maybe they would be worth it if i was able to refinish them. Also she assured me that the drivers worked before they aquired the speakers.
