  1. Thanks for the info! I'm not sure what tap goes where on the 3654 transformers. I was looking for a manual or data sheet, but I didn't see one for these specifically. I'm really enjoying the sound now, much smoother for extending listening periods and better intelligibility. I'll have to email Bob about adjusting the levels, but it's certainly an improvement over the AK2. Those stock caps in the bass bin crossover are huge!
  2. I have been doing some more listening, and the sound is way too bright with the new crossovers. I have to cut the treble on my preamp. Does anyone know how to adjust levels on the autoformer? I guess I'll definitely have to get Crites tweeters for proper balance lol.
  3. Well, one crossover is now installed! So far, so good. No tweeter distortion, after brief testing. I have to stick it back in the corner, but sounds smooth. I'm not sure if I have to adjust the autoformer, since the K77M is different than a Crites tweeter obviously. I don't know for sure what tap goes to what wire yet.
  4. Thanks for the input. I'll find out soon enough! I have some A/4500 on the way.
  5. Has anyone tried the combination, with very low power? Am I pretty much guaranteed to burn up the voice coils if I try?
  6. I'll take the crossovers. PM sent
  7. Hi I'm interested in the Crites 4500 crossovers. Can you send photos? Thanks!
  8. Are these still available? Do you have photos? My email address is absolve2525@yahoo.com if you do. Thanks
  9. Good to know! I still need to upgrade my crossovers!
  10. Thanks for the info! I meant eq for the big horn, but it sounds like it's not necessary with the Crites tweeters, at least. What taps did you prefer?
  11. Very nice! I have a pair of similar large HR9040 EV "white whale" horns. I tried one on a K55M on top of my Khorns briefly; it makes the top hats look small! What kind of crossover and eq did you end up using with the big white horns? I'm very interested!
  12. We need some pics! What model speaker are you using them with?
  13. I reinstalled the stock drivers. Ahhh, back to normal! B-)
  14. Thanks for the reply! I tried substituting the 1824M yesterday. My impressions? Missing detail and snap on the top end of the midrange. Perhaps if the tweeter crossed over lower, then there wouldn't be a hole. With stock drivers and crossovers, it just sounds too lifeless and mellow. K55M, back you go!
  15. I have a spare set of 1824M I picked up a while back, and figured it might be fun to compare with my current stock 86 Khorns with AK 2 crossovers. They're both screw on phenolic types. Has anyone used these? I'm curious how the top end roll off compares. Data file should be attached. 1824M EDS-1.pdf
  16. Still available? What horns do you have with them? Are you taking offers? Thanks!
  17. Just wondering if anyone has any Crites parts or elliptical horns, kits, etc or crossovers they weren't going to use. Thanks!
  18. Thanks for the comparison to AK3! What differences did you notice when comparing to AK2? Do you know if T5A is available from Klipsch or if Crites offers one?
  19. Dang! I emailed and never heard back about those in Columbus. Apparently the local flipper got there first. Ugh
  20. Thanks for the reply! What caps need replacing inside of the bass bin? I didn't see any electrolytic caps on the top hat crossovers; I figured they were still good, unlike electrolytic that drift out of spec. .
  21. I'd like to try out some of the other crossovers, such as the Type A etc, and was wondering if I can use the autoformers from my AK2? Do I need to start over with all new parts? Thanks for any input!
  22. Hmm, im not visualizing how a bike intertube stretches around a big horn lol. He should upload a photo. I attempted my own damping... I set a big bag of rice on top of the K400, right behind the grill. Then, I set a big bag of popcorn kernels on top of the throat, in front of the driver, stretched out along the throat. I wrapped a few long pieces of heavy duty black Gorilla tape around both, to keep them secure. I like the results! Lol.
  23. That's an interesting and easy thing to try! Bags of corn would certainly be easier to locate and remove if necessary.
