  1. Thanks for the information. Do you know anything about the plate amp that Klipsch recomended. Sure don't want to throw away my SW-15, it is in very nice comdition. The amp never did work right from the day I bought it but the enclosure and speakers are just perfect.
  2. I have a SW-15 I thinks it has a blown amp. I can't turn it up very loud without it poping. The speakers are in verey nice shape, the rubber is soft and they move smooth. I contacted Klipsch to maybe fix it they said they couldn't but recomended a amp to replace the defective one with. They recomended a Young SD200-6 Class D subwoofer plate amplifier module with 6db @35 Hz. Is this a good choice in a amp or are there better ones out there to use to refurbish a SW-15. I would apreciate any and all help from everyone. Thanks all, Derek
  3. I have a Klipsch SW-15 sub I think has a blown amp. The speakers are in very good condition though. I would like to repace the amp with a new one. I hear the old amps back then were junky. The Klipsch people suggested replaceing it with a Young SD200-6 Class D subwoofer plate amplifier module with 6 db @35 Hz . Does anyone have any nowledge on this to shed any light on my project. If there is a better idea I would be greatful for any opinions.
  4. Hello there I was looking at your handy work nice lookin. Could you point me in the right direction for some basics on sub woofer design ? I am a carpenter and am pretty interested in making some speakers. I see that your sub you show here has some kind of neat porting system just courious as to how to make one of those and the dementions needed for various speaker sizes or amp configuration. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks and have a good one, Derek
  5. I'm not sure what you mean by set to auto. My sub has an on off switch and three potentiometers phase, lpf and gain. My Marantz av reciever has a sub setting for Hz. in the menue I don't think ya mean that. The rattle or poping isn't loud at all it happents even at low volume if I turn the gain up.
  6. The speakers both passive and main feel very smooth and new and look great.
  7. I'm cleaning all the jacks now and potentiometers. I didn't see anything burnt I din't remove the amp though smelled fine though.
  8. Seems the noise is kinda in between. I took the sub apart today nothing smells burnt. The speakers cones seem very smooth and the rubber is fine. The only thing is that it isn't relly lined that well. It's a 20x20x25 box with 15 inch speaker and a passive radiator in the back. It only had a roll of foam the dia. of the speaker inside it, from powered to passive. I don't know if that could affect it's preformance if I were to take the foam out and open up more of the box. The foam isn't that dense I don't know.
  9. It seems to be very touchy even at low volume levels. It has been that way since I bought it. I am just trying to figure out if it is damaged or is a klipsh kw15 just not as deep in the bass area. The sub rattles or kinda pops even in a kinda quiet but bassy time in a movie. It is anoying when watching a movie. I would like to figure it out.
  10. I have a klipsh kw 15 II . Is it better to run a Y off the reciever sub out then a dual wire to the sub, or run a single wire out of the reciever then Y into the sub ? My sub doesn't seem to put out much and if I turn the gain up to much it pops. I have a pardigm pdr10 that seems to put out more bass and I'm trying to tell if the kw15 is in need of work. There is a dual cable going into it right now Y from the reciever. DAC
  11. Well I hope I haven't messed anything up with my sw 15. I have turned the gain up to high trying to get more out of the woofer, but I useually kept it way low cause it allways seemed touchy. Is there anything I can do to make the sound richer or am I just crankin it up to much? Thanks for the info and if you can give me any other tip they would be appreciated. Derek
  12. Ok I usually have it at 9, but it seems to just rattle from time to time even at 9. I seem to be cautious with the sub maybe I just need more subs for my liking.
  13. Cool I have a guy wanting to sell a paradigm sub to be for 50. dollars is that a good deal ?
  14. Would a Klipsh SW 15 and a Paradigm 10 sub work well together ?
