Yep....I drove 1055 miles for one of Carl's slushies.  Great job by Christy and Elden to keep my attendance a secret.  A fun time for sure.  Factory tour starts at 7:30am!

Nice!  That's cool you made it over there Tar-Chuck!  One day maybe... one day...

Hope it was a good time!

I like coffee but not that much.

Same thing about raw Oysters, who thought to open a shell and eat it raw, but I do like those. At least they didn't pass through another animal first, big difference.

Mostly unrelated, but I also wondered who the first person to make cottage cheese was and how they came to the conclusion that they were done.

  3. Good morning CC&C Crew (at least still so in Alaska)!  Just wanted to say hi and that I really enjoy reading this thread even though I so randomly post and flee again!

Have a rarity in my world in that last week I spent 10 days in Hawaii with my wife, the boys and her parents.  We had a GREAT time!  Natural Vitamin D in Feb/Mar for Alaskans is wonderful!  (also why they have almost daily full flights direct from Anchorage to Maui! :D)  Home this week and leave Saturday for Florence and Rome with my mother.

I've never done back to back trips like this, but I am so grateful to be able to spend quality time with my family!  It's still bouncing between 6 and 26 right now - but with the clock flip Saturday night - It will probably be light out until 7:30ish @ night (from 3:15 on Dec 21) and spring should finally feel like it's commencing!

Aloha and Ciao! :emotion-44::emotion-22: Hope you're all well!  One day I hope to make the trip to Hope and meet a bunch of you!

Why do you say this? If the boosters can be re used it's a step forward.

Good point - that sounded bad re-reading it - I simply meant having the car headed to Mars. I understand the why - I think it's a remarkable achievement!

Anyone see the Falcon heavy rocket blast off with via YouTube or live? Pretty damn impressive they were able to land both boosters in sync.

A Tesla roadster was on the payload.

Good share - this truly blows my mind!  Private enterprise and a man just sent his roadster on a trip to Mars?!...  This is such a tangible demonstration of possibilities and dreams coming true!  Completely impractical, but a brilliantly executed test.  What are the possibilities from here?!  My inner eight year old is lit up right now!

Congratulations Chuck, just noticed this thread is less than a week short of being 4 years old.

Happy Belated Chuck!  Four years is quite a run!  Did you ever think when you started this?...

We're on our third straight day of 50-60mph winds.  It's soul crushing at this point, ready for it to move on.  Air temp is 16, windchill is - miserable - to put it in scientific terms.  Coffee is a saving grace!

Have a good rest of the week everyone!

  8. Happy Friday All!  After a week of snow - it's starting to look a lot more like home for us this time of year (vs the 40's and RAIN!!).  Trying a local coffee med roast it's pretty smooth - props to them!

If any of you are looking for entertainment options for the weekend - I would recommend The Greatest Showman.  Saw it at the insistence of a family member and my wife and I were VERY pleasantly surprised.  We see why it's becoming a word of mouth classic!  TONS of talent - I dare say even if musicals aren't your thing.  It's very well done!

Anyway - that is all!  Enjoy the weekend working folk; retired folk - happy next day!  :D

OH!  And a book recommendation - Ghost Soldiers - about the Philippine Liberation in WWII, fascinating story!  I have NO problems in my life - those men were TOUGH!

Dave  , how are the little ones....

And did you have your surfboard ready this morning ?

They're great - thank you for asking!
We have a 7.9 earthquake and I somehow sleep right through it!  Only one drawer opened in the kitchen- so we did pretty well.  Granted it was a couple of hundred miles south of us.  It was the entire facebook feed this morning.  Feel like I missed out on a big event!  :-)

WillyBob - BUY THEM!!  I have a pair that I bought for (overkill) rear surrounds and I'm tempted to pull them down and use them for two channel.  I played with them that way for a couple of months (2 channel) before I put them on the wall and I LOVE them!  I'm a fan of the front facing port (I know not all are), but I think they sound wonderful!  If they're on the cheap - GET THEM - I'm confident you will not be disappointed!  And as dtel said - you can sell them if you don't like them.  (Someone will take them!)  Good luck!  Enjoy!!  (think you could use parenthesis this much in one post?) game on!

One last snow for Jake I'm afraid.  He is in some pain and struggles to get up:(  I dread making the call but know it's coming.  He's getting cheese grits and bacon in a few minutes.

I'm so sorry Chuck.  It's the worst, making that call.  Dogs give you unconditional love for their lifetimes, then they rip your guts out when they leave.  They're worth that end of life heartache I suppose.  No sugar coating this part though... :( You are in my thoughts.  I will raise a glass to Jake tonight and my cup of coffee to him this morning.  He's been a good family member to you!

  12. Good to see you are all surviving the winter (so far)!  it was 40 when I woke up this morning - FINALLY it's back down to 30 and snowing vigorously!  This is so much better than rain/ice combos!  Happy we're not in a minus 20 stretch right now - though it is great coffee weather.

Stay warm everyone and Happy Belated New Year!

  13. Happy Friday All!

FINALLY got some snow on the ground in south central AK, it's been too long!  We had some Christmas rains which just weren't effective for getting into the spirit of the season.

Saw the new Star Wars last night so I'd like to start posting some of the most significant spoilers right now.  First of all, finding out that...

Just kidding - I have a heart!  (for those that even care about Star Wars)

Coffee is better when there's snow on the ground.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Please read for comprehension Carl "Little man continues to heal........"

Thank you both for asking!  We are one week in and are just about out of the woods for the most part.  I'm glad tarchuck is keeping you both accountable - but I'm grateful you asked.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!  (that works)

  15. Good Thursday everyone!

On cup #2 of Java this morning - I was introduced last night to a new bourbon I thought I'd share (if it hasn't been already - may be old hat for some).  A friend recommended Knob Creek Single Barrel reserve, it's wonderful.  It is quite smooth and I really enjoyed the flavor.  If you haven't tried it - I give it a thumbs up.  Remember, I'm not even a whiskey enthusiast - so take this amateurs amateur opinion with two grains of salt.  :-)

Little man continues to heal - and get way more active - no issues so far!

    Have a great day!

  16. Good morning all!  Thanks for the prayers, thoughts and positive vibes!  Little man is sore but everything went as well as could be!

The staff were great.  They made him a crown and told him to put his hands in the air like a roller coaster when they wheeled him back.  They make it as pain free as possible!  Let the healing begin!

I’m on cup #2 this morning and he’s on Christmas Special #3.  :-)

    Have a great weekend!
