  1. Thanks Stew! I do have a photo of his DD-214 (equivalent I think) so I have schools he was in - phillipine liberation and Luzon. Still need to dig to find timelines if I can. I appreciate the feedback! I couldn't agree more - I hope I never have to go to war. These are the good ol days. And USN - awesome set up - simply incredible!!
  2. Random question: Other than the NPRC in St Louis - does anyone have any suggestions for digging up WWII info? I was given my late grandfathers helmet and dress coat this summer and I would like to try to piece together as best I can where his battalion (if I'm lucky!) was and when. Does anyone have any experience researching these kinds of things? The huge fire in St Louis in '73 did no favors in this regard, but the internet is a marvelous thing. Happy Friday to the fellow working types! Cup o'Joe #2 is on board... cheers!
  3. I like this one - I'm stealing it.
  4. That's a lot of water... hope some drains before round 2! Stay safe out there!
  5. Greetings CC&C crew! It's been a loooong time! Busy summer up north, baby on the way next month (3rd boy! - still need a name - all suggestions are welcome... maybe Klipsch...hmmm...) It's cooling off - state fair time for Alaskans. A time to up the salty diets! Family owns a Reuben sandwich booth and I'll give em great credit - they braise the kraut with beer and bacon - it's kind of unreal... anyway - if any of you make it to Alaska during this time of year - I'll buy sandwiches for your whole family! Got an invite to this years CES in Vegas in January - I got the green light from my bride too so I'm pretty excited! I hope you're all well! Have a wonderful Thursday and Football Season is upon us soon!!
  6. Great move elevating the tv! I'm not an expert on either, but how loud do you listen to movies? If it's pretty low volume, it may not matter that much, but if you crank it often - having a bigger center is nice to be able to run with the rest of your set up! You're probably fine as is, but I tend to like bigger/better for the center. Just my $0.02. Good luck - enjoy! That's a sweet setup!
  7. +1 I think this is a perfect summary. Nice for home theater, not going to watch it over and over.
  8. Even this Alaska boy has been to Cooper's! It's the real deal! My Texan buddy said you know it's real when you spend $36 on it and it's served on wax paper. I'm almost ruined on BBQ now bc it just doesn't measure up to that place! Two thumbs up, go check it out if you're within 1,000 miles or so!
  9. Saw this one in the theater and agreed with an earlier comment that the fbombs felt like a new toy since they hadn't been used to date. More realistic? Probably, they can do what they want. I really liked the devastation Prof X could cause with his mind, for the reasons put forth (ahem - don't want to spoil it). I didn't care for the method for his condition by the end (is that vague enough to not completely ruin it?). It felt quite anti climactic for that character, but it's xmen... They can simply jump to a new timeline and do it again differently at any time.
  10. Greetings C,C & Cers! To say life has been busy lately wouldn't be accurate. I read far more often than I post, but anyway - solstice was mentioned and I thought I'd share a pic from Sat night about 11:15pm. Days start getting shorter from Thursday - we're at the time of year that I think that's ok! We stay up Waaaayyy too late in the summer...
  11. Incredible! Wonderful setup! I have some new life goals!
  12. Your endless supply of these is incredible! I salute you!
  13. Sorry to hear this BSM - those kind of goodbyes are so tough.
  14. Sun tea is the best! Grew up in North Dakota and we did that all summer - it was my favorite.
  15. Within spittin distance! I waited for your jet to pick me up but... I had some BBQ and delightful Chile Rellenos! Mercy - I would gain weight in a HURRY down there! ... and that sweet tea...
  16. Ha! It's been a LONG time - in the last six weeks - separate trips to Atlanta, Michigan and Texas. I'm tired - and have a lot of miles. One day - I'm coming to Hope! But for now - I'm drinking coffee and listening to Frank Sinatra. That's random - but it's fitting the bill today!
  17. So you're NOT moving to Alaska?
  18. Greetings C,C & Cers! Trying a hazelnut flavored roast this morning - not bad! Took a whirlwind trip to Atlanta over the weekend to see my beloved Braves open their new park. I had a wonderful time with family making memories! Hope you're all well! Have a great hump day! (This is a pic with Brian Jordan who played many years for the Braves and the Falcons in football). 19. One day... one day I will make it down there as well. But in the young kid stage of life, mine consists of a great deal of cat herding in the rain! Happy Hump Day Everyone!
  20. Happy Friday to the working folk! Glad I'm not a commuter in Atlanta today... or for the next three months or so after that I-85 bridge collapse! A new coffee shop opened up below my office, they deliver to me and my clients, I just have to keep the tab paid up - it's a great arrangement! If you need me, I'll be at work! I PROMISE I can quit whenever I want to~
  21. Greetings CC&C Crew! It's been a loooong time since I've checked in. Took the fam on a Disney trip two weeks ago w/a brief stop in Atlanta on the way back (the boys 4 & 2 LOVED the GA Aquarium!). Lot's of new regs going into effect @ work (or not?!) (ala DOL Fiduciary ruling - google it if you care too - it will affect your retirement accounts) so things have been quite busy! Coffee is still warm and my BP is back to normal so I'm back to three pots per day... I jest. but only a little. Hope you're all well - Tarheel Chuck - congrats - that was a crazy game!
  22. I saw them in concert once, they were great! Bunch of little pigs, but they were great.
