  1. hey guys, so i was reading some posts on emotiva's and came upon a few poeple praising onkyo m-282. well then i looked them up and seen the price for them and they are pretty cheap. so if the balanced inputs were never gonna mean that much to me as well as ever running 4 ohm speakers. for the price would 5 of those be better ( three to bi-amp for the fronts, and two for the back four) than the emotiva xpa-5, and the xpa-2? and also have small speakers in the back so the xpa-5's 200 wpc wouldn't really be necessary at all. could do the xpa-3, but would like to be able to power independantlly as i would like to have a pre/pro in the future.

    thanks guys

  2. well i guess i dont understand how you want more bass but are happy with what you have?? anywho, you want the hrtz to over lap just a little. like i have my rf-63 which freq response is down in the 30's somewhere which is extremely low. i however, cross them over at 60. what that means is that anything below 60 hz is not sent to those speakers. and my sub is crossed over at 70. and that means it will not play anything above 70 hz, that way i dont get a three speakers trying to play the same thing and make that frequency section boomy or too loud. if this doesn't make sense i can try to ellaborate more.

  3. i agree with everyone else. you shouldn't have to run the 82's on large. you should set them around 60 hz for the cutoff and find you a better subwoofer. one with some oomph!! i just sold a pair of 82's to get my rf-63's. i wasn't bi-amping the 82's but the guy i sold them to did and to me they dont have any more bass and aren't any louder, just sound more spacious and much clearer and seperated. wish i could bi-amp my 63's just love 7.1 too much to rock 5.1 to bi-amp.

  4. Looks great. You should be very pleased. Nice cherry veneer matching.Yes I bet the SVS digs deeeep.

    Bill

Yeah bill, this svs is nasty!!! it is shaking the house like i have never heard before, and i dont think it has even really started to breathe yet. i am pretty excited for it to be broken in and then put in its permanent home to be fine tuned all the way. it sounds great now but feel it could probably be tweaked a bit just dont want to do it where i am at. moving home in november.

  5. Airport Extreme? Check. Xbox360? Check. Good stuff!

hey trev its a time capsule. what is an airport extreme?

And to everyone thanks!! i am pretty happy with it so far. still feel like the front three could use a little more power. so trying to figure out how i want to go about getting the xpa-5. soon enough though.

  6. Well all i signed up for this forum a little over a month ago to shuffle some gear around and start putting my dream theater together before i get out of the military. well at least the audio side of the gear till i know what kind of room i will have for projector screen and what now. audio side didn't matter. i will over kill the hell out of a little room doesnt matter to me!! i have been wanting these for quite some time and thanks to NEZFF, i have them. The svs was introduced to me upon arrival of this forum. shuffled around my old subs and set a bit aside and BAM!! there she sits now!! i am in love with all of it. have a few more things i am interested in. mainly a new power center and an emotiva xpa-5 for now and then add a xpa-2 later. also trying to upgrade the rears so i can have all 6.5" woofers all the way around. If anyone finds any cherry RB-61's or RF-62's, the older ones, let me know!!

  7. The newest Rambo on blu ray is pretty amazing! C-4 tied to a two thousand pound bomb Does amazing things to any subwoofer. And Stallone up on the mounted 50 cal mowing people in half is pretty awesome for just about every other speaker in your setup. plus it's 7.1 which always a treat!

  8. Hey guys, does anyone know if you can bi-amp an emotiva xpa 5?

I am thinking of buying one but only running the front three for now. But don't want to buy the xpa-3, as the five channel plus the xpa-2 will be needed in the future. So I am wondering if you can bi-amp from it and if so how you would go about doing it?
