  3. Yeah!! Realism. Freedom! Its not only complicated, its difficult to achieve and appreciate. I keep hearing comments about surface noise such as clicks and pops. Most of my LPs are dead quite. I do run every one, even new LPs, through my Keith Monk cleaning machine prior to playing for the first time. So if you have noise get a good cleaning machine and enjoy noise free LPs. rigma
  4. Mustang Guy, check your PM, I had trouble yesterday with pm. rigma

  6. I can't believe this is coming from the Grasshopper! Now that is funny. rigma
  7. What's simple about using a voltage to guide cutting a groove to wiggle a needle to wiggle a coil that requires a dramatic EQ curve to compensate for? That, to me, sounds like a very complicated process. If we're going to talk about the echelon of analog, then I think we need to be talking about reel to reel... Actually that does not sound complicated to me at all, unlike turning that squiggly music into Xs & 0s then back again.[6] rigma
  8. In my post above I was wondering how much of what I heard through Rigma's system was the preamp/amp vs the analog crossover. I thought it was the best sound I heard compared the solid state amps and digital crossovers but was thinking what I was liking was mostly the great pre/amp (even the brand of tubes was top notch) as opposed to the crossovers, which I felt were only making a minor difference. If I am understanding you correctly in the quote above you would agree with that? To follow up on that, what would you say would be more of an improvement on the Jubes, TAD drivers or going to analog crossovers? Thanks Travis Travis that is a tough one. Both were much better to my ears but if I had to make a choice it probably would be the TADs. rigma
  9. I don't remember 12 but here are the latest I recall: All LPs. Lightnin Hopkins - Lightnin - 1960 Ben Webster - At The Renissance - 1960 Gene Ammons - Boss Tenor - 1960 Dave Brubeck - Time Out - 1959 Coleman Hawkins - The Hawk Relaxes - 1961 Buddy Guy & Junior Wells - Going Back To Acoustic - 1981 Ray Brown - Soular Energy - 1984 Van Morrison - Moon Dance - 1970
  10. "Each increment of "signal processing" adds its contribution of distortion." That statement is why I like to keep the signal chain analog and very simple. rigma
  11. Cask, Here is my 2 cents based on my experience with my system. Vinyl played through an excellent tube preamp to 300B SET amps to Jubilee with passive network beats CDs every time. Vinyl played through an excellent tube preamp to digital xover to 300B SET amps to bi amped Jubilee is much closer. I believe to truly compare vinyl to CD you must maintain a pure analog signal from start to finish. If you convert the analog vinyl signal to digital you have lost the advantage of the original analog source and then you are no longer comparing analog to digital.[] rigma
  12. Yep, I have compared Digital vs Analog side by side, same music, many times. Everytime in my opinion analog was the winner. My wife, Beck, is even more diehard analog than me.[8-)] rigma
  13. Greg, Which HF horn and driver are these set up for? rigma
  14. Thanks duder1982.......All I can say is it was my listening experience along with a friend I had invited over during part of the listening test(he owns many amplifiers from McIntosh MC225, Marantz 8b, Cary CAD805c as well as Krell and McIntosh ss amplifiers so he has a good range of amplifiers to compare with) and he also expressed the same perceptions and conclusions when we discussed our thoughts about the comparisons. I also have another good friend(whose listening opinions I respect greatly) that tried the F3 against his 300b tube amps and he said that he and his wife both thought the 300b amp was the better amplifier in their system and again there are variables at play that "might"explain why we came to different conclusions and I hope to hear the F3 in his system soon for myself which should be interesting and part of the fun for me anyway. miketn That be me Mikey is talking about. Yes, my wife and I both think the 300B is definitely more musical than the F3 and it only took a few minutes to come to that conclusion, though we did listen much longer. I do have a very different setup than Mikey, no digital other than CD player for one thing. I have heard Mike's system prior to the F3 and it sounded great and I am sure if he says the F3 sounds as good or the same as his 2A3s it does in his system, he knows his stuff.[Y] I can't explain why we have different opinions other than our unique systems or maybe even taste. I will say the F3 is the best SS I have heard and I will be using it for the front Jubilees in movie mode. rigma
  15. Why would you want to lose the time delay correction between drivers, fine PEQ, and add a reactance to your amplifier's load? Cause it sounds better.[]
  16. Rhapsody is what we use and will let you do what you are asking. With a good sound card, M-Audio Delta 196, the sound quality is excellent. It is fee based but I don't remember how much.
