  1. good man! I tune amps & preamps by ear, then confirm with appropriate and relative test procedures. If it sounds great but tests bad, you're testing the wrong damn thing! In reality you can get great sound with reasonable test scores to back it up. The perfect specs usually sound like dung, at least to me!
  2. The list of amps especially solid state that descriptions fit are way, way too long to list... The same can be stated for amps that test not so good but sound great! Many of those would be tube amps! In the end spec list buying is for retards!! Sorry but my BS fuse is still very short LOL
  3. Hopefully this is not the one relationship that can't be repaired. I surely hold no ill toward my old friend Mark! The man is an audio tuning magic man! Have no Idea where I'd be in this without him!
  4. Jay, Good to touch base with you... The way my Tigers have performed for way too long again. I have not been vesting my time in watching them much... I've been following the players that they lost! JV and Max... So this last ALCS I was cheering for both.... But my heart has always favored JV! But Max is a bull for sure! Take it easy brother! Cheers Cra. JJ, Glad to hear the ST70 is serving you. My main criteria when design mods and new product is sound quality and longevity! Evedently the longevity was spot on because I rarely hear from any of the thousands of customers with both vintage new products.... Tell you truth I find it surprising! Take care my old friend Craig
  5. Wow whomever built that gear is insane.....Uhoh that be me LOL!! MD so where is the infamous MD???
  6. Hey Mark good to have you drop by to say howdy. Been a longtime. Good to hear you still have the NOS Valves stuff in house!
  7. Jay, How ya doing? Yeah well Baseball has been a sour subject in Michigan for a while. Hopefully now that they have Miggy off the books things will change some. I have been following Ex tigers more than the tigers. JV & Max with JV being my favorite. Yeah this getting old crap sucks. You know your getting old when they start replacing parts. My first was the Knee last week. Honestly in all other respects I have been doing darn good these days. My knee is now doing real good muscles are sore but good, Just got home from my first PT so I should be sore. Cheers old friend! Craig
  8. Tiger, Well glad you dropped in. Good to see some of the old crew! There are a few that have dropped in! It's great. Funny thing is those first two I mentioned here it is 23 years after landing here I still converse with both Allan Singer and Kelly Holstein. Both great guys from a way different perspective. But we still have immense respect for each other. Some bonds in life can't be broke! Cheers Craig
  9. I was never out of business to previous customers of vintage amps I restored or products I built. My response and turnaround time was getting pretty extreme though. In fact, I have a few projects on hand I still have to do...all for previous customers and they have been here a long time.
  10. Is that your way of laying a guilt trip on me....well it worked LOL!! A little birdie told me way more to it than that...I'll refrain from talking further about it since I have no first hand knowledge.
  11. Marvel, Thanks for the welcome and nice that some of the loons are still around here! I thought Mark Deneen was back hanging here? No need to spend anything to try it before you buy it. Not too many differences to the PRO version and you can try the standard for free for an album or two.
  12. you might want to find a way to listen to the gear and forget the reviews.....trust your ears!!! Save your wallet!! I wouldn't buy any of this trash because sooner or later that is what it will be, most likely sooner! But that's just me!
  13. This picture even makes me sicker than the description..... total garbage that is bound to cause it to be thrown away within about 10 years...
  14. Hey guys, I need some insight into a reasonable way to digitalize my vinyl collection. Nothing but time on my hands for a couple months. I did some of this 15 years ago but have no idea how I did it back then...Old Timers is a *****! I know I used something other than Audacity but darned if I can remember what... I read that Vinyl Studio is nice and $50 for the pro version doesn't seem crazy. I have a Focusfite Scarlett 2I2 analog digital converter.... but no software or details of my best course to get it going. So where is the Klipsch world on this? Thanks Craig
  15. It was right around 24 years ago I was recovering from a neck operation and was dealing with issues with a set of Klipsch Computer speakers.... I wandered into this forum looking for support for those and stumbled into this 2 channel section......guys were in here "Mobile Homeless" and "Allan Songer" being a few of the most vocal talking about Klipsch and Tubes, which quickly peaked my interest since I learned basic tube electronics from helping my father work om WWW II ham radio gear, he refurbished, used and sold as a sideline from his normal home appliance business which I also worked with him on in my youth. So "Mobile Homeless" was keen on the lowly low quality parts EICO HF-81, "Allan Songer" was a fan of the HH Scott line of vintage amps for a decent build quality and awesome phono section. My father told me EICO brand test equipment was garbage...I quickly gravitated toward the better built and handsome looking Scott line of amplifiers. So, on eBay I bought a pristine condition 222C that the moron eBayer packed improperly so the face plate ended bent over in shipping. I forced him into a deep discount and kept it. Which led me to decide to see just what I could do to improve it. In steps "Mark Deeneen" of Juicy Music Audio and famed Paragon preamplifier of the 1970's which none of knew that was who he was at the time. He takes me under his magical electronics wing! Teaches me most of what I know about tube audio! All the while "Mobile Homeless" obviously feels threatened a resident "tube guy" of the forum! Those 2 proceed to fight for my musical sole LOL!!! Man were those days a riot around here... All the while folks were watching as a reported what I was doing to the 222C... I started getting asked "would you do one for me". I did a few for the part and shipping cost no labor or profit. It mushroomed out my control! I was released back to work (home improvement contractor) and still did the refurbing for profit as a part time thing for about a year! Then I had a recurring neck problem and was told by the Neurosurgeon that I needed to stop working over my head or with any vibrating power tools. I talked with my wife and decided to take the leap and turn my new hobby business into my new full-time business! Man did that work out great! So fast forward 24 years I have become forced into semi-retirement from what seems like never ending nagging health issues to the point I have not taken in new work in 4 years! At 62 I was approved for Federal SS disability in 7 weeks without even seeing a doctor because my health records were that bad in 2021... including lung issue from smoking for years but had quit and sucking solder fumes for 20+ years. Here I am recovering from Total Knee replacement surgery my nagging health issues have stabilized from good health care providers! I design a ventilation system for my shop and I'm back here offering my services starting two months from now. Isn't it strange how things come full circle in life sometimes! Cheers Craig www.nosvalves.com PS forgot one detail I damn near died at home with COVID in 2020 of course it found my weak spot those lungs! But I'm a stubborn Bxxxxxxx In 2016 it was the Flu that almost got me...7 days in the hospital...
  16. Rob, Did I do your 222C for you directly? I can't find one under the first name of Rob or Robert in my files. No0 big deal either way. If you would like me to mark that unit as your email me at craig@nosvalves.com so we can work out the details. Much rather put a forum member/previous customers name on it!
  17. Well folks thought I'd drop back by to say I survived the Knee replacement surgery better than I could have hoped for 4 days in and I slid the walker behind the door and I'm using a cane, after all my vanity can only stand so much of that crap LOL! It'll be a couple month ordeal before I'm jogging, but I should be taking on a limited amount of work again before spring! In the meant time I might be posting a couple more pieces for sale to get me over the hump. On e already has a first dibs call out on it (Stereo VRD). But the other will be a pretty nice 299B that I have to put an upgraded power transformer in. Which I need to get to ordering. Any way again thanks for all the well wishes it good to see this place hasn't lost its friendly nature! I'll be forced to take lots of breaks when I get back to work so I'll probably start hanging out here again. Did I hear right and Mark Deneen is back in the house? Boy it would be nice to catch up with him, What a great guy! If any of you remember Mobile Homeless (Kelly Holstien) I still converse with him now and then. Funny how true friends find a way to bury and hatchet! Anyway, I'm rattling on! Cheers Craig
  18. Any vintage Mullard or Amperex is about as fool proof as it comes!
  19. This one is SOLD to a forum member 👍 thanks to all!
  20. Thanks Dean, I have a trade secret to ask you. Who makes those Klipsch authorized caps? Wondering if they make them in tube amp values and voltages. I believe those are Mylar? Are they film and foil or metalized? I understand if you are sworn to secrecy
  21. I'd owned an upper end Nitty Gritty and sold it off for a VPI 16.5... actually I bought the Sota Turntable version of the VPI 16.5 but in essence they are one in the same. I'm sure some new players came to the game since so Id' say do your research.
  22. Hey guys thanks for the kind words it looks like the Klipsch lover stepped up and wants it. Which is absolutely my preferred outcome! 👍
  23. Well, I have to say the total lack of interest in this has surprised me. Has the Klipsch crowd lost its way? I mean the rule around here used to be Tubes and Klipsch are a match made in heaven. I guess I'll have to raise the price $200 or so take it where I hate selling Fleabay.... I'll give it the rest of today around here before doing so!
  24. Thanks guys, it has been a trying 5 years or so but like I said it's gotten way better. Of course than my knee decides to go to heck on me... Can't wait to get it done.
