  1. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HK0E0A4?ie=UTF8&pfRdReplace=1 That's a good price for a Factory Reconditioned receiver with a 1 year warranty and free shipping. Accessoriess4less sells the same reconditioned receiver for $369.99 and am not sure about the shipping cost. One issue with new Onkyo's has been HDMI board problems. This has made me hesitant to buy a new Onkyo receiver. However, at this price it might be worth the risk.
  2. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ele/3545506453.html Klipsch Academy Center Channel Speaker $350.00 Mint condition, no scratches or dings. Sounds wonderful Call Ernie at 817-909-1150
  3. I use an Academy with my two Heresy speakers. I don't believe the Academy sounds different. In fact, there are several reasons an Academy works better than a Heresy for me as a Center: 1. I have a Rear Projection CRT TV. So, I need the special magnets the Academy has to avoid electrical interference. 2. The total distance between my left and right Heresy speakers is 12 feet. So, the Academy blends in well. 3. I mostly notice the Academy during sports broadcasts where the announcers voices come through the center channel. The Academy reproduces voices quite well.
  4. If you want to try a sub on a budget, buy an old home theater in a box and only use the sub with your Heresy's. I bought two Onkyo HTIB systems, kept the 2 Onkyo SKW-530 Subwoofers and sold the other pieces. I think they both work with the Heresy speakers quite well.
  5. I use the Rocketfish Rear Wireless speaker kit from Best Buy. $99. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=product&id=1171058476489
  6. I've been thinking about getting a tube amp. Usually, this is dreaming of finding a McIntosh classic amp at an estate sale for $50. Anyway, is it possible to run one without a preamp? For example, could you connect a smartphone or Logitech Squeezebox Touch or other device with a volume control directly to an amp? I realize these wouldn't the best sound sources. Ultimately, one would need to get a preamp and a turntable. I'm just killing time before my lunch ends.
  7. Problem turned out that I didn't have the speaker wires connected to the terminal block correctly. Speaker works.
  8. One of my Heresy I speakers is not producing sound. I've checked the cabling and moved one of my HII speakers up to the front to make sure it's not the amp. So, now that those things have been ruled out, what should I check on the speaker? I'm thinking it's either the crossover or whatever you call where the speaker wire connects. Terminal bridge perhaps? It it is the crossover, it and it's pair will be taking a trip to Arkansas to see Bob.
  9. Great songs to listen to on these speakers: I Am A Rock. Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 "Everybody must get stoned." The Cover of the Rolling Stone Heart of Stone
  10. I run H2s as surrounds for my H1s. They sound great even though they're hooked up via the Rocketfish wireless speaker connection.
  11. If you want to have it rebuilt: Freeman-Tuell Speaker Service, LLC 7911 Ferguson Rd. Dallas, TX 75228 214-324-1132
  12. 1. Make sure the Netflix program is available in 5.1. Not all of them are. There's a search engine that allows you to search Netflix by Netflix 5.1 Surround: http://www.tvandmoviesnow.com/ 2. Make sure your Samsung BD player can stream Netflix in 5.1. You may have to update your firmware. What model Samsung do you have?
  13. You could get a reconditioned AVR-1912 at Accessories4less for $319.99. http://www.accessories4less.com/index.php?page=search&search_query=avr-1912&x=34&y=4
  14. How are you acquiring your Heresy's? Estate sales? Craigslist? Are they following you home? You could wire one pair in series for a amazing center channel.
  15. Yes, it is of interest. Thank you so much for your help. There are many things I need to do. I need to buy some Bondo (or Minwax High Performance Wood Filler) to fill the screw holes in the back of H2s. At the moment I'm storing up info to see what I wish to do. The thing is, I was always thinking I'd go with Bowers and Wilkins when I had the money to get good speakers. Instead, I've fallen into two pairs of great speakers for about $400. With B&W, you must buy new speakers to get additional performance. With Klipsch Heritage speakers, you can upgrade the speakers, horns, crossovers, and cabinets. I am beginning to get the outlines of a plan: 1. Fill the holes in the H2 and get them repainted (or do it myself). 2. Replace the capacitors and the midrange gaskets on the Heresys. 3. Get the H3 kit for the H2s. 4. Hope I don't find some Belles or LaScalas at an estate sale that will start the whole process again (or maybe hope that I do).
