  1. Thanks all for the education, I think I should be safe with my wiring thanks to you guys. I just have to wait until x-mas to set everything up. It's a wife thing, you know what I mean. Be cool. Mike
  2. Hey all, Thanks for the info. The speaker wire I purchased is rated for use in walls. In fact it is S16-2R-CL 16/2 monster cable. If I run these cables across my current electrical wiring in the attic, how do I protect the from interference with these particular cables? Or, are they insulated enough as is? As far as klipschhog's comment on bi-wiring, I don't know if quintet's are capable of bi-wiring because I just don't what it is, how you do it, what the benefits are to doing it, etc... Mike
  3. Thanks for the info. If there is no difference in sound quality, I will stick with the 16 as I have already purchased it. From an aesthetic standpoint, the wires will be buried in the walls anyway so no loss there. Any advice with bi-wiring? Mike
  4. I have had a similar experience on ubid. It took a long time for my speakers to come in, however if money is an issue it's tough to turn their prices if they have the product you want. When I priced the quintet system at a dealer, it was on sale for $800. I think it retailed $900. That includes 4 satellites, frt ctr, and the KSW-10. I bought my speakers on ubid for $700, except I got a KSC-C1 ctr and a KSW-15 sub. Another important thing I learned is that if you do buy klipsch online make sure you do buy from ubid or outpost if you want klipsch to honor any warranty. Those 2 .coms are the only authorized online dealers for klipsch. 1-800-klipsch. Mike
  5. Hello all, I have pieced my first ever HT system together as a result of this BB. I went from "Best Buy" and "Circuit City" HT packages to a Klipsch quintet surround, KSC-C1 front ctr, KSW-15, with a Yamaha RX-v1000 and Yamaha DVDC996. Now, I have to connect everything together. I keep reading about speaker wire that I am not familiar with. For example, does speaker wire gage matter? I was told from an audio store employee (who I think knew what he was talking about) that 16 gage wire would allow my system to perform just as good as a larger gage wire. I am skepticle. I am routing speakerwire through my walls and ceiling, and only want to do it once. Oh, and how does bi-wiring benefit the system? Oh, by the way. Do you guys think the 15" is too much. I got it for really cheap on ubid and I figure this saves me from upgrading in the near future. Mike
  6. thanks guys. I know its been a while, however, if you do read this I appreciate all the help. I ended up getting the KSC-C1 and I haven't tried it yet as I am still putting the system together.
  7. OK. I read a post on 8/21 on center quintet. Apparently they are difficult to get. I'll try ubid.com, however if I won't be able to get that ctr will the KSC-C1 suffice? I am also planning to get the KSW-12 vs the KSW-10. Again I am quite leary of certain websites out there. I've seen some good deals on federalstereo.com. Any input on this site?
  8. I have just recently purchased 4 quintet satellites online thinking it would be cheaper to piece them together. However, now I'm thinking I won't be able to match the quintet frt ctr with the whole system. I am quite a novice at home audio, however I did listen to the system versus your basic "best buy" systems and I couldn't believe the difference in quality with the quintet system. A friend also referred me to Klipsch and to say the least, I was overwhelmed. Anyway, enough of the fluff, If I matched an RC3 frt ctr with the quintet satellites will the overall system suffer? be better? or will it even work? I have been surfing different sites for the speakers and I believe I am finding good deals. Can anyone recommend any legit sites (carry warranty)? Please help, confused novice.
