  1. The wood is Walnut. More beautiful in person than the pics. The grain is really nice for walnut though. I could definitely see where you could get it confused with Cocobolo.
  2. Thanks for the bids guys...although this is a "buy it now" listing and not so much an auction hahaha! In all honesty, I appreciate the offers. I plan to keep everything together and sell the amps with all the tubes. $4k + shipping buys them. The amps are incredible; that can't be overstated.
  3. Thanks again for your offer. I would like to sell the amps with the tubes. Not interested in separating them at this time.
  4. Thanks for the clarification Rodney. These are special amps you had built, and I’m thrilled to own them. I’ll miss them if they sell.
  5. Schu, I'm sure your current Jupiter VRD's sound great man. These just add that touch of extra refinement, bandwidth, pinpoint imaging, etc. If you decided to purchase the amps, you could always sell the tubes if you didn't want them. I just don't want to hassle with doing that right now. We have a two week old baby girl, so my time is focused elsewhere at the moment. I'd rather sell everything together and be done. That, or just hold on to the amps until I'm through this hump where my wife is out of work with the baby. If I do the latter, then I'll be in the market for another NBS down the road. The match between amps and preamp cannot be overstated, but that is another story in itself.
  6. They are righteously priced, in my opinion. These are far from your "normal" VRD amps. The Magnequest transformers alone cost Rodney like $2100, not even to mention the other upgrades. FYI, I sold my standard VRD’s (with upgraded Auricaps) for $1700 locally after I bought these hot-rodded amps.
  7. Schu the amps are still available. But I don’t want to take any less than 4K with the tubes. They sound too good man. And the thought of selling the tubes separately doesn’t sound like fun.
  8. Yep that is it Mark. I bought it from you and sold it to Schu. Kind of regret it actually. I should have kept the NBS and the case. I love that dark walnut. I’ve been mixed emotions about letting the amps go. Only selling to free up some funds while my wife is out of work.
  9. Thanks guys. For those that love their VRD's and want to get that last bit of refinement, these are your amps. As far as I know, there are only three pairs of these amps with Magnequest iron in existence... these amps, Craig's personal amps and then Paul's amps from Many Moons Audio. They are quite rare birds, but they also sound the part.
  10. It completely depends on what I am working on. For that particular session, it was Americana/singer songwriter stuff, so actually tuned down low and fat.
  11. That kit is incredible. Hello Alex Van Halen! I’m pretty simple most of the time. Here are the walnut Craviottos in the studio
  12. You know it! I've got two USA Custom kits that are incredible, for both live and studio. One is a Jasper kit from the 80's and the other is a new build from 2010 (avatar pic is the badge of that kit). Anyway, thanks Born2RockU :-)
  13. VRD’s are special amps. People don’t know until they hear them. Congrats to buyer and seller. Happy listening and tube rolling!
  14. These are still available. I’ve had several members showing interest, but no one has pulled the trigger as of yet.
  15. I am selling my Burson Audio PI-160 integrated amplifier. This is a great sounding unit. Made in Australia and built very sturdy. 85 watts/channel into 8 ohms and 165 watts/channel into 4 ohms. The entire 36lb aluminum chassis acts as a heat sink. Three inputs...or it can be configured with a jumper inside to have two inputs and one pre-out if desired. Very handy design. The only flaw I notice is on the bottom right of the face panel. I loved this piece in my secondary system, but I'm selling a lot of gear and downsizing. FYI, this particular amp was made in 2013. I have the factory manual. Feel free to contact me with any questions. We are a smoke/pet free home. $650 shipped to your door via PayPal f/f.
  16. Thanks for the offer. I was mainly interested to hear the Klipschorns. In reality, I need to downsize my gear anyway. Our baby girl is due this month on the 16th and realistically, if I were to have brought Klipschorns home my wife might have went into early labor. Glad you sold them quickly.
  17. Oh wow, I was just thinking about contacting you and bringing over my hot-rod VRD's for an audition. I'm about 3 hours north of you, but this saved me a drive. I still have yet to hear a pair of Klipschorns. Congrats on the sale.
  18. My vintage McIntosh system Craig rebuilt for me before I moved over to the VRD's. MC240, C22 and MR71. I miss that Garrard 301 turntable with the slate plinth and 12" Thomas Schick tonearm. That vinyl rig was special. The phono preamp was a George Wright AG Signature with separate power supply.
  19. Yes me too. I figured they would sell within a week. I’m almost certain the first person to hear them will buy them on the spot. But there’s not many local audiophiles I know of here in the north Florida area. It’s difficult to describe the level of sound quality these amps produce without coming across like a sales pitch.
  20. I loved the phono section in my NBS. Still miss it and could kick my butt for selling it, but other things took priority. I compared it against a stand-alone SS Sutherland 20/20 and the internal phono section of a Cary SLP-98P...and ultimately preferred the NBS. It’s quite a special unit, in my opinion.
  21. Anyone located or traveling around the north Florida area for the holidays is welcome to drop by and hear these.
