  1. I thought maybe we pack into a couple vehicles and go for a demo. Them mcm's are in that room to stay I believe...It would take some serious machinery to remove then replace them in his house...
  2. As much as I hate to encourage You They were very impressive !! They were playing with Jims ampandsound and Jasons Table Tuba and I was thinking that's alot of quality sound from such a small attractive package. I actually had to walk up and make sure it wasn't the Cornwall's playing and those are some really sweet Cornwall's. Well, it's the ultimate compliment from a guy with the biggest horns Klipsch ever made! There is no doubt the baby cw design is mighty impressive. Iv owned many heresy. My preferred out of what iv kept is the tangent 5000's then kp2502C2's which are the newest version of a pro heresy. Iv tried numerous drivers and now using crites although I will be switching them back to the k42's...may have to have you do some work on a pair for a new listening room next year. The baby cw's are I would put it the most robust yet exquisite over all in a heresy sized cab. Im kinda rubbing pennies together at the moment but tried to buy that Yamaha receiver Mark brought....I really wanted to buy everything I heard this past weekend... I absolutely cannot believe you sold them stacks! I understand you needed room and like to mod and try new things although MCM's are top choice of speakers in my opinion over anything...May not be made for a home although they sure did sound good in a home...
  3. lol hahahahaa I didn't know who to stalk and I decided to follow Gary...Once the sun came up we went up to is door. No invite...jk Hey now you got to go to the opusk museum!!
  4. Beeker It was my pleasure I enjoyed it as well. One of my favorite things was in between songs when a large rumble came from the other room and Katie was in there Rockin the movie Battleship pretty good. She can definitely hang with anyone! Mark is a fun guy who enjoys his audio and gear as much as anyone I've met. Your theater room was perfect. After the aletheia cw's, ampsandsound se15, table tuba, claude baby cw's and all the great people etc...to top it off with a visit to your stacks as well as theater and the rest of your gear wow is all I can say...what a pleasure! Through the weekend talking to everybody was really amazing. Derrick's first heritage listening was substantial to me to see and hear his thoughts. Derrick also helped me understand subwoofers in the home in a whole new way. Im so use to excessive bass. I have figured out I will have to keep my current 18" subs. Once I get moved next year putting together a third listening room I can see a table tuba or a Jason str bass unit for sure. Used with a heresy boosted up something like Jimjimbos Claude baby cw's. At this point in time I cannot imagine anything else. The ampsandsound se15 would be nice as well although I have to take this 1 step at a time...Those stacks at Gnotes are by far the most effortless sound I have ever heard in my entire life...Maybe a bit large, maybe not...them are amazing period. I have to say the demo of those stacks are an unforgettable time in my life....almost like hearing your kid talk for the first time lol only they are his kids lol That Saturday was an absolute hoot. What a great group of people. I had arguments and/or disagreements that resulted in learning as well as just lots of great music and conversation...I think Lemonstrings aletheia cornwalls really set the tone from the start. I was also taught quite a bit about digital playback that is worth so much. Next gathering if Gnote would allow a visit to the stacks and or theater that would be really interesting to hear a few more go to demo tracks...I just cannot get enough of them stacks lol very impressive. Lemonstring must be really good with his neighbors...It sounded just as good outside in a very nice large house neighborhood where you would imagine most go to bed by 8pm lol yet again maybe that's why he invited all the neighbors...wine and dine them all and the loud music wont matter....it was an absolute great gathering. I may sit and write for a few hours on reply to how everything sounded sometime....everything really sounded great regardless. It was so nice for everybody to share gear at lemonstrings! I prefer an audio gathering like that over a trip around the world...unless there is a bunch of klipsch gear at strategic stops while going around the world lol

I actually had to walk up and make sure it wasn't the Cornwall's playing and those are some really sweet Cornwall's. Also a huge Thank You to you Gnote!!! we just got back... WOW lol every turn in your house was a holy cow! I mean I just wanted to check out some stacks lol Great afternoon. Thank you so much for your time and demo's. Wow what a weekend! When I get home tomorrow i'll have an audio hangover...actually I believe the weekend just made for some sweet dreams until the next gathering... Through all the gear iv heard this weekend possibly the biggest eye opener was that Yamaha Mark hooked up The aletheia cornwalls were really nice just so blissfull. The Claude baby cw's with the geemany Christmas tabletuba with the ampsandsound se15...once the baby cw's were put on stands there was such a clean sound any audiophile could fall in love with for a lifetime. What a combo. Both of Lemonstrings amps were very clean too. I missed the later kt88 demo which I wanted to hear pretty bad...maybe next time... Critical listening through the whole day seemed to go so simply... Im looking to get home and play some tracks to do some comparisons. Lemonstrings turntable was very smooth as well. Very nice! Its so interesting the twists and turns audio has with things like the table tuba and comparing quality tube amps then hearing an older solid state that shines so well. Some people may come to Chicago for museums or games or what have they...well the klipsch audio community in Chicago is extremely fine. Every conversation over the past 2 days has been awesome. It was so much fun to learn and listen to different gear. What an absolute blast in Chicago! cheers to Lemonstring for putting it together!
  6. We just got back to the hotel. My list of names to thank is to all. Most of all thank you to Lemon string! That was a great day. I believe there are still demos going on now. I cant wait to spend time on the klipsch forum describing some bucket list gear I got to hear throughout the day. I somehow actually missed some gear that I wanted to hear. Some very impressive swap outs and switch with amps, subs and speakers going fluidly throughout the day/evening...that was a demo day I dream about. That was awesome! Cheers!! P.s.if any locals havnt been to kiss the sky wow you gotta. Lp wise gonna be tough to beat. Cd wise was about as good as it gets. reel to reel is pretty darn good as well. All playback new and used was very good. what a day! great group of guys. and I gotta hand it to you lemon string...you fed and served drinks to us all like champs...and you still have at least 3 40" inch pizzas left lol im still stuffed haha Cheers! that day was awesome! could not ask for nothing more!

  8. this is very interesting. I bet you will like a cornwall better. The palladium is much more refined...you may have actually acquired the sound and taste of the ultra sophisticated audiophile and your nose may be and/or get stuck upward listening to any other speaker lol The exaggeration produced in a cornwall to me is worth a lifetime a listening. Some people absolutely chose palladium on top of anything klipsch and some vice versa..there is a klipsch speaker for everybody
  9. It may even be better. Anytime works from here That would be sweet!
  10. I have not heard cw's with the aletheia upgrade as well as your amp setup etc... Prime setup. Cant wait to hear it
  11. Id love to hear your system. Anything klipsch is a priority to me to hear. Amps, pre's, "material most importantly", dacs's, subs, pre's, receivers and any speaker with a klipsch label as well as others though klipsch does the job incredibly well and the way klipsch mix with rooms to the amp etc...is all good stuff. This gathering is sounding very good I'll even stop and swipe up Jim so he don't gotta drive through crazy town lol just gotta be careful with Jim tho he may try to buy anything and everything he see's and/or hears...so im sure he'll drive the big speaker hauler he has oppusk? man that guy has some gear and in Chicago...he's got near doubles of everything at his undisclosed location...he would be buying everything too so gotta be careful what we bring

Very nice. Iv always wondered what was around the pic in your avatar
  13. I missed your response in this thread somehow... Claude would still have them stacks id imagine if it were not for the room they take up. Then again I don't see Claude sitting still with one setup or another for long. I try to keep in touch with Colter and after my next move he is my priority contact to get new mains in a 3rd listening room. My schedule is perfect for this October audio gtg. It appears up to the afternoon of the 10th I will be fairly busy. At about 5pm on that Friday the 10th i'l be ready to loosen up a bit.
  14. those first several posts look just like my main listening room ...mine may look better(I have more gear sitting around unused lol)...messy and lack of style/ good looking which is why I don't post pics(and cause the new forum system makes it more difficult) lol regardless any room or the average room, a pair of speakers may tell any pair of ears something different as mentioned in an above post the only ears to trust are our/your own. I mean heck I know or have known audiophiles who love bose hahahahahaah and im going to say these days for the common man if it aint klipsch then your wasting your time. even with a bottomless pit full of money interesting nonetheless

    What I Got Today!

Yeah, I got a haircut. Are you saying you only got 75k miles on it, or it gets 75k miles to the gallon...if the latter, I want one. My 1998 Honda Accord is about to hit 230,000 miles. Most of the repairs I have had to make in the last 5 years are replacement of rusted parts because it sits on a gravel driveway...oil pan, gas tank, brake lines, Now the exhaust. Pretty impressive though that the exhaust has lasted so long. Back in the day 2-3 years tops. I was hoping I would get 300k out of it, but I think rust issues will prevent that. hahaha A cars a cars a cars a car. I have a few vehicle titles in my name. And iv owned new cadillacs and crew cab trucks. After my divorce a couple years ago I gave up on cars. Get from one point to another and back is all I want...if its a demolition car that does the job I don't care. Thinking about buying a new conversion van...then again a van is just not necessary for my life lol maybe build a vintage sports car for myself...then again for what lol maybe a new little fiat lol nah...this cobalt gets 32mpg and runs fine

    SVS Opinion...

For subs and I was going to suggest it to Schu as well considering he has been looking. With all the pa systems going powered(the big quality ones are not but the small ones are still switching) you can find crazy deals for pa subs on clist and guitar center etc...even online brand new...some may look a bit tacky although after testing you can recover them or just wrap the cabs in speaker grille clothe...this is sort of how I got my dual single cab 18's...

    SVS Opinion...

There are some absolute junk subwoofers around. Them combo/multiple subs in 1 cabinet imo were trial and error and mostly chalked up to error. I have heard your subs in single sub setups and know they are very good...I have to take some of my prior comment back. At home limiting the watts its really not necessary for the 15 or 18" sub. I do wonder how you would compare dual, single 18" subwoofers or more in your 904 theater...regardless your svs are trump or equal to even the old fathom jl 13. I don't remember the epic but I know I had heard one. I believe they were dual subs with 1 facing 1 way and the other facing forward or what have they. Both facing the same direction would be my preference. Im putting some subjective material down on the forum now and don't want to muck up schu's thread

    SVS Opinion...

Got it ! I see your point. I did not see that it was the driver size you were coming from. Im sure your right that 18s would be a better match for my 904s. What if the 12" sub had more output (20-200) and less distortion in everyway than the 15"? Would you still take the 15'? For at home use it really wouldn't matter. Those 904's could be pushed like an absolute freight train. To me I have found in the past 2 years in particular at home 18's with 15's(in 3 way configuration/speaker) is sonic nirvana...then again the quality of your svs with the 904 has to be absolutely stunning as well. The 15 will take less watts to do as much power wise(this is proven) and even more in my opinion in particular matching tonally with 2/3 way speaker configuration

    SVS Opinion...

If I am building a theater or a pa as well as home theater or a home music system I would not use a subwoofer that is less than the size of my low frequency driver. There are tonal reasons why a smaller subwoofer will fall short of providing proper bass when exchanging harmony with a low frequency driver in a 2 or 3 way etc...cabinet/speaker. If you were to mix in some good or even descent 18's with your 904's you would be hooked I have to use the simple example when was the last time a band used say a 12" subwoofer with there 2 way 15" speaker cabinet...not going to find one. So why would I ever suggest somebody use one at home... It may work for you in your uses although under no circumstance would I mix any 15" woofer in a 2 or 3 way cab/speaker with a subwoofer of lesser size... I have owned speakers with 6 to 8+ inch drivers that will reach below 30hz...using a 12 or even a 10 as subwoofer duty reaches better harmony easier than if I use 5" subwoofers or multiple with the 6 to 8+ inch 2/3 way speaker...they just don't do the job... If I were Schu I would be looking for a 15" sub at least...or better yet try an 18. Once you do this you will not dump them and go back to a 12 or 13...at least a 15 in most instances will match a low frequency 15, direct radiating so, so much better I promise you... I have a stack of powered 12" subwoofers in my second room and would never try to mix them with any 15" 3 way cabinet, direct radiating...its just not smooth...the mix is not consistant or you would see 12" subs in pa systems or large theaters with 15" low frequency drivers Get some 18's and you will understand why...its that simple To have a direct radiating 12 or 13 digging deep with a direct radiating 15" 3 way or 2 way speaker is simply counter intuitive. Now im not going to explain anything lol its a simple acknowledgment you will reach if or when you get larger subwoofers. There is a reason you see people get 18's or even 15's and never buy another 12" sub... I learned when I was very young with car subwoofers, no matter what quality 12's I had the good 15's always did better. Its an easy companionship that does and will always make sense. With direct radiating drivers get a sub that is larger rather than waste money and time wondering about the big subs... This is in no way examples of horn subs and low frequency 15's in that such as the khorn or lascala etc...

    SVS Opinion...

What do you like better for music from the sw15? he mentioned he was looking for "MUSICALITY over HT"
  21. beeker

    SVS Opinion...

In my opinion good gear yet tough choice If this is to run with your cornwalls imo sw-115 all the way. Especially for music. Direct radiating in particular I find it a tough mix to toss direct 12's in with mains that have direct 15's...stick with the sw115.. then again.... on the other hand those pb2000's look nice. I looked at reviews and all were for theater nothing for music. I have noticed your looking for new subs so possibly give them a shot. Carl has valid points and they will likely do very well. Since you are looking for new subs those svs look like the ones at a good deal. get a good demo first and double check that warranty..mention the new svs coming out in October and offer $900cash reference heads running 2 svs or 1 and another 12, maybe 2, 13" svs& another 12. I forget with his cornwall sounding(he mentioned they sounded like cornwalls) 904's and likes it so your cw's may sound rather well with these svs pb2000's iv never heard either the sb or pb 2000....they may be real good
  22. should be good. I really don't know much other than if the bias is off there will be issues. id read online or check reviews and see if there have been issues with your particular model/amp and its self biasing. I just had to ad keep an eye on bias to a rube rolling thread more for amps with no self biasing in particular even with non automatic biasing amps iv never had bias issues even when switching tube numbers but still keep an eye on it to be safe
