  1. Gary, Great Post....I probably should have done the search but I knew it was pretty easy to find them....Marshall did some great step by step (Paint By the Numbers) post of his renovation work....They should be Sticky's in the Modification threads....! Thanks for going the Extra step.....
  2. Boonzilla, There are several sites that offer very good tutorials on applying veneer. Check these two out: http://www.veneersupplies.com/default.php?cPath=51 http://www.oakwoodveneer.com/ Do a little reading and decide for yourself if you feel like you can tackle the project. The rewards for DIY are great and if you take your time you will end up with beautiful cabinets. the prep work is the hardest and you must be patient. If you try to "Hurry" it along, that is usually where you will get into trouble. GroomlakeArea51 (Marshall) also has several great tutorials on this Forum and he does an excellent step by step photo tutorial on Veneering. I do not have the links but do a search under Heresy and Veneer and they should be there. The La Scala Dog House is tedious to veneer, as the cuts need to be very precise and the pieces in the very back of the cabinet are tough, but doable. If you go with the grilles, that will eliminate the very back of the opening, as it will be behind the grilles. If you are a "Purist" (sp), you will want to veneer all of it. Again, if you decide to DIY, the rewards will far outweigh the time it takes, to do it right and you will end up with a beautiful set of cabinets. Painting is also a very good option but the prep is far greater than it is for veneering. I have seen some beautiful painted finishes on the Heritage Line of speakers. The Birch finish, if the grain pattern is good can also be o good choice as long as they are not beat up too badly and the sanding will not go through the firdt layer of the original Birch finish. Hope that made some sense..... Good LUCK.........!
  3. Jay, I talked to Travis yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. He is sending me something with "Saxaphones[]" in it....looking forward to it's arrival....! I am also going to test a MiniDSP on the 402's and this may be the perfect test tape along with a few CD's........we will see...!
  4. Travis, Please feel free to call anytime...PM me if you need the number. Thanks........!
  5. In reference to "The Tape Project" tapes.....Does anyone have one that they would be willing to let me Audition on my Studer? Reason I am asking is, before I consider spending this amount of money on 10.5 sub-Masters, I would certainly love to know if it would be worth it. I am totally sure that the quality is there, I would just like to hear one to prove it to myself. If anyone has one that they would be willing to ship to me for a week, I would be glad to pay the fees both ways. Hope this made sense......
  6. Have you possibly added any CFL's Compact Flourescents? Depending on the manufacturer, some can create static (Hum) to your system. Just a thought as most Power Company's are giving them away now.......
  7. Peter, I read your build thread over at Lenco.....EXCELLENT job on the build and I am sure you will get many years of enjoymet from them......!
  8. Peter, If you now have Heresy's as surrounds, what would the additional two REAR surrounds offer, that you are not getting now. If I understand correctly, you are using the single Heresy as a rear (something) and I am sorry for not completely understanding its purpose. If it is a rear Center, that is fine....I just do not know what an additional rear set would offer in a room of that size.....
  9. I must have typed it in wrong....Here it is: http://playingforchange.com/
  10. Man, if that don't bring some tears to your eyes....something's wrong.....! They are doing some great stuff. The Playingforchange.com website doesn't come up though, just and AD page.......maybe I typed it in wrong......
  11. You might contact this guy on the Bay. I got two of the fan kits and some parts replacements from him, for my Promedias and they have been working flawlessly (sp) ever since. You can now put your hand on the amp and it is just warm where as before it would be very HOT to the touch. The main problem with them was internal heat exceeding the rating of the internal components and would cause them to fail over time. 12. Peter, I was able to find a Crossover Scemmatic for the KSP 400. It is attached above. KSP-400networkschematic.pdf
  13. Mike, Tthe KPT 402 MF has the 1132, the KPT 402 HF has the K 69 for those two applications. The Grand HF-T (510/1133) that I have listed has an SKU assigned to it. I don't think they spell out in the literature on the larger Cinema speakers what is actually driving the 510 in the HF applications. They use the K 1133 for HF on the 402 in the KPT 942-4-T application, so it could be anyboty's guess. It is my understanding that if an SKU has not been assigned, they will not mix/match. Again, you may have found something different. They have a lot of different combinations in the larger Cinema speakers. That is the latest information that I have and if it has changed in the last few months, I have not been notified. Anyway, I don't want to sidetrack the thread any further. If you or Richard would like to discuss it further, please PM or email me.
  14. Mike, You may be right but the 510/1133 combo is labeled Grand HF-T with an SKU number assigned to it....No telling how you ordered it. I am just trying to put out as accurate information as I can, with what I have here as information......YMMV.
  15. Peter, Your English is fine......better than some that speak it as their First language......[] The Woofer section and the HF/MF sections are seperate. Have you changed anything recently that would bring on this problem...changed the wiring, amp, etc? The woofers have their own amplifier, so you should only need a LF out of your AVR/Receiver to send a signal to them. Please re-check the Owner's Manual and be sure that you have the connections attached properly. Also, if you are using an AVR, be sure to set the LF to 80Hz cutoff. By what you are describing, it sounds like you may have an intermittent loss of signal somewhere. Also check your amp/speaker connections and see if possibly one or two strands of the speaker wire may be shorting somewhere. This is a common cause for distortion and is very hard to detect.
  16. Peter, I edited my typos and added a couple more comments........I am looking at one other source for the Schematic but it will be tomorrow before I can find out.....if it has been this long, I guess another couple of days will be OK......
  17. Peter, I have attached the "Owner's Manual" above. I possibly have a scematic of the Crossover around in here somewhere, Let me see if I can find it and I will attach it also. You may have something going out in the Crossover network. Some of these models had Amplifier issues, but the MF (Mid frequency) and HF (High frequency) should work without the Woofers. Are the straps between the HF and MF loose or corroded? This is sometimes the issue. You can try and take them off and check if they need cleaning. Be sure that everything is tight. Some people have bypassed the Woofers in the past, when the amps blew. Are you the original owner or are these something that you have acquired recently? I know you said a few months later.....was that from the time of purchase or was it something that came up after years of use? EDIT Update: I just checked and I do not have the Schematic on file....possibly someone else on the Forums may have it. If someone does, I would certainly like to have a copy. KSP400C6S6Manual.pdf
  18. Dave, It absolutely amazes me how a thirty or forty year old tape can sound so good. I am sure that it has to do with the quality of the machine and the tape heads. Since I got the Studer, and when I play it behind the Pioneer 909, there is really NO comparison to describe the difference in sound. The Studer is so much more detailed in what you hear, compared to the 909. I am actually thinking about selling it. I can honestly say that tape, in MY opinion is much better than vinyl......YMMV This last group of tapes I bought (200 +) has some great Organ stuff in it along with a bunch of new tape. I got them all for less than a dollar apiece.....! There are some great "FINDS" to be had in the RtoR tape world.
  19. Richard, That combo is called the Grand HF-T (510/1133). Let me do a little further research on it and I will email you. We have it listed with an SKU number assigned to it, so it should be available. Thanks,
  20. Mech, Yes, you can purchase the K-402 with a K-69 driver. It is an assembly with a designation of:KPT 402 HF w K60 Driver and has an SKU number assigned to it. For clarification, I just mentioned that the HF Horn is normally sold with a Base Bin and is not usually sold seperately, but it CAN be purchased as a seperate item. Hope that made some sense......................
  21. JL, Klipsch only sells the K-402 Horn as an assembly with the various Drivers that are offered. K-69, K-1133,,etc. for a particular application and usually mated with a Base Bin, that fits a particular application for theater use.
  22. Ken, It probably would help to know a little about the room they are in, placement and what you are driving them with (which Pioneer receiver).
  23. FWIW, Costco has an eight camera system for 500 dollars that is HD full color, IR at night and will record and back up for a month. The "Night Vision is some of the best I have seen. We installed one six months ago and all I can say is EXCELLENT.....! It is a LOREX system with a 500 Gb HD.
  24. Our New Web Site is up and running........Of course it will be continually updated, content added and corrections made....If anyone has any suggestions or you spot any mistakes, please email or PM me. www.panaceaengineering.com Thanks......!
