  1. My son (dtr20) had a pair of forte 2 and I have a pair of chorus 2. My son also has a pair of cornwalls. Out of the 3 , I like my chorus 2 the best. The forte and the chorus sound very close but I give the nod to the chorus , they fill the room more.
  2. Emotiva, NAD, carver, just to name a few
  3. Even though it says 140per channel , if you have all channels driven you have maybe 60 to 70 watts per channel if that. I would keep the marantz and look for a second hand 2 to 3 channel amp for the three fronts as they draw the most power.
  4. Welcome to forum. It will do the job.if you like it really loud , you might run out of power. In the mean time use it but i would look for a 2 or 3 channel amp to run the 280's and possible the center channel.
  5. Hi Rusty, welcome to the forum. What i would do is play them as they are, make sure that all the drivers are working. Put a towel in the tweeters to see if the mids are playing then put a towel in the mids to see if the tweeters are working. Make sure they are playing at the same volume. If they sound good leave them as they are, if there not rebuild the crossovers, try that and go from there.
  6. Welcome to the forum, My son had a pair of forte 2s and I have a pair of chorus 2s. We A/B them , the fortes are a great speaker coming in a very close 2nd to the chorus. The chorus sounded the same just fuller. I havent heard the forte 3 but I bet it would come very close to the chorus .
  7. Your really not going to get anything to match. With thats said, I dont know how big you want to be but I would look at KG 1.5,22, or 2.5
  8. No you wont . Its just like a car that can go 120 mph . When is the last time you drove 120 mph ,its there but you will never use it . Plus the avr today are rated one channel, every channel you add it goes down
  9. If you want to wait so you can save up , why dont you use the center speaker you have in the mean time
  10. Has anybody used a mouth piece instead of the cpap machine?
  11. I would go with the forte 2. My son had forte and forte 2 and the forte 2 was a little bit better. I have a pair of chorus 2 which I think is the best all around speaker but they are little bit bigger. What size room are they going in?
  12. I understand that but what are the key ingredients? Ive been trying to figure this out since my son got the old sony.
  13. Wait until you find chorus 2 s , you wont regret it
  14. Thats awesome, but what I want to know is what's the difference. my son say's its the pre amp, but what I want to know whats the deference between them . I thought if you put an avr in pure sound or what ever you want to call it , its how it was recorded but there must be something else
  15. wvu80 , I have the same avr as you and we tried it on my sons belles and they sounded bad, we tried 4 or 5 different avr"s and they all sounded the same. When we tried the old sony intergrated amp the belles were awesome and if I remeber right they only had 25 watts per channel
  16. Hi Wvu80 , see if you can borrow a 2 channel stereo from some one . It doesnt have to be tubes , im running a pioneer sx 780 that my son got me for christmas. But dont do it if your not planning on buying one because you will regret listening to it
  17. Awesome, now sit back and relax and listen to your favorite music for the first time again.
  18. My son is DTR20 and when he got his Belles we tried everything and they sounded like crap. They had half way decent highs and mids but the bass sounded like a transister radio. No matter what we tried they sounded like crap.We tried 4 or 5 AVRs. I was so upset that my Onkyo 717 with 110 watts per channel couldn't get them to play good. After that I tried talking my son into selling the Belles that everything we heard about them wasn't true or that there was something wrong with them even after he rebuilt the crossovers. Then his friend came over with an old Sony and they came alive. My son bought the Sony on the spot.
  19. get a good vintage STEREO receiver and you will be shocked at what you hear. It doesnt have to be a lot of wattage either. Then just sit back and enjoy.
  20. I would get the forte for 2 channel and the klf 10 for the surrounds.
  21. the klf 10 should be a little cheaper around 300 or so, but I must admit they are a great speaker. I have a pair in my 7.1 system. They were my front left and right until my son gave me a pair of klf 20. Now they are my left and right rears.
  22. Then there are the Chorus line 1 and 2 I have chorus 2 which I think is one of the best speakers I have ever heard.
  23. you might have to buy a turntable adapter for it
  24. What kind of reciever are you using? My son and I hooked up his Belles to a Denon reciever, my Integra, my Onkyo and the Belles sounded terrible. We rebuilt the crossovers in the Belles and they still sounded bad. My son had a friend over and we did everything again then he went out to his car and he brought in an old Sony integrated amp and then the sound was awesome. Everybody I talk to says you have to use a 2 channel reciever to get the best sound out of them.
  25. Hi Dafirst and welcome. I have never heard either one but I would still stick with the 280. bigger fuller sond
