  1. i was at work today thinking that i have cornscalas and they sound so good, could they give me the (sound to die for) if mated with the right amps.... ? maybe thats the question i should be asking. and what amps could get me there....? i say this because i'm willing to invest more if that is possible. i think i'm ready to try tubes, done read to much about them from you people, besides maybe it will keep me from buying more speakers... seen some 60 watt Quicksilver mono amps also today, would they get me closer? http://www.ebay.com/itm/200942880762?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 i'll listen for any ideas... thanks
  2. i would like to know if a Dynaco/Dynakit st35 clone (new), board was designed by Shannon Park... or a dynaco 70 clone (new) or a completely rebuilt fisher 500c reciever would go best with my cornscalas and cornwalls... i never had a tube before so would like to hear what the tube guys think....i would be willing to buy a preamp if need be... i think i really want the best sound for the speakers i have...... thanks bruce
  3. I seen this on ebay.... Beautiful Marantz 2230 in great condition. Everything works as it should, all lights, strong stereo tuner reception, great phono section, as warm as a tube unit! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marantz-2230-Receiver-in-great-condition-/261235526394?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3cd2d9cafa
  4. I pulled the backs off my cornwalls tonight... measured the newer diaphragms, the k-77-m tweeters are 6.2 and 6.7 Ohms, and the k-55-v mids are both at 10.2 ohms... I've gotten 4 midrange diaphragms this year from bob and they all measure right at 10.2 .... as i replace all my vintage diaphragms, and caps .. i like to know i'm hearing what i suppose to hear...lol
  5. yes, they are warm..... smells good too after a good listening .... lol
  6. thanks Boxx, and yes the vintage Marantz gear was known for being warn, always wanted one of their receviers but it never happened... I have heard them and they do sound warm ...lol..
  7. to me the word (warm ) means a soft and pleasing sound, easy to listen to .... not hard or harsh, hard to lisiten to ... or at lease thats what i thought it meant ..lol this makes any sense ? I have vintage sony recevier that i think sounds (warm) , it has a big soundstage and a really nice easy listeing warm sound. I also have a newer Harman kardon , i think it is more colder, but more (correct), is what i call it... i think it has a more clear and detailed sound than the sony, but with a smaller soundstage and not as warm as the sony. the HK is hooked to my cornscalas on one end of my living room, the sony is hooked to cornwalls on the other end of the living room, some days i listen to one or the other, never really know which reciever i like best....lol
  8. my K-77-M tweeters had 7.25 and 7.95 ohms ... and my K-55-V midranges had 11.5 and 12.5 ohms ... or did before i had new Diaphragms put in them recently, i forgot to test new ones..lol .... i had all of them redone, they just didn't sound correct, played out of range kinda, and harsh, I did new caps, wrapped mid horns with rope caulk, then new Diaphragms.... everything i did helped a lot, now they sound like they suppose too, truely amazing ..... 81 model cornwalls ... bruce
