  1. It was down in Louisiana, Just about a mile from Texarkana, In them old cotton fields back home.[] Hey Hogfan, are you rethinking the rf-7 setup. If I wasn't already in the doghouse for buying so many audio toys lately (including your la scalas which I love), I would have snagged those when your first listed them.
  2. I love my RF-7 II's. My wife likes them over the cornwalls and la scalas. She loves the heritgage too, but to her ears she favors the RF-7 II's. There's been many nights where I challange her to a dual between the la scalas and rf-7's. They are in the same listening area. The sources aren't the same, but similar. We can listen to the same song back to back on the different speakers. Sometimes I admit to her that the rf-7's won, and sometimes she admits to me that the la scalas won.
  3. I saw that. I thought it was light coming in from the window. Definitely needs to provide additional pictures and serial #.
  4. Thanks, actually those are VF-36's that I'm using as surround speakers in the 5.2 setup. I use RF-7 II's as the fronts. The tv and RF-7 II's are on the wall adjacent to the right speaker. The surrounds by the fireplace are terribly located for surround sound. I've been concentrating so much on the 2-channel set up, that the ht setup has taken a backseat. Now that I think have the 2-channel situated for a while at least, I need to address the 5.2 setup. Problem is I have overcrowded the room with speakers and haven't quite figured out what to do with surrounds. I had a 7.2 system going before I went bonkers with 2-channel.
  5. I just got my la scalas so I'm still experimenting, but this setup sounds pretty nice.
  6. Nice starting price--not much info on the speakers though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipschorn-Walnut-Speakers-/281083090504?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4171db9648 no affilliation
  7. They are running in stereo. Right one is getting right signal, left one is getting left signal.
  8. Thanks for all the corngrats. I've been experimenting with sub location. I don't have many options as I have pretty much ran out of wall space. I tried this this morning and wow--sounds pretty freaking sweet. I can easily adjust crossover and sub output with the paradigm x30. I had them stacked in the opposite corner last night and it just wasn't working at all, but they seem to be synergizing with the la scalas pretty dang good like this.
  9. The crossovers went to visit Bob about two years ago. I love the bass. Sometimes I do fill like I need just a little ooumph in the very bottom. I've got a couple paradigm servo 15's that I bought from hogman. Most of the time I don't think they need anything, but on certain songs I will likely supplement them a little.
  10. Sneak them in there when she's not looking and put on a little Barry White. I'll bet they stay. That just might work.
  11. Yea, I'm looking forward to it. My wife and I spend a lot of time listening to records on the weekend, and I recently added a cd player and cassette deck to the 2-channel mix.I'm very happy about keeping the cornwalls. My goal is to set up a little 2-channel system in the bedroom with a vintage receiver. I'll have to be delicate with this one though. She's not ready for me to bring up putting the CW's in the bedroom[6]
  12. Thanks. One other thing I didn't mention. They do go loud with ease. I didn't push them too loud. I did read 109 dB at one point--standing about 20' away from them. They sounded like they could do more. I don't really have a need to listen that loud. I'm sure I'll try it again though--when I'm showin em off[]
  13. Well, I gave em a pretty good listen last night. And.........they're stayin[]. At first I wasn't 100% sold. The mid-range is rediculous, but I wasn't quite hearing the thump that I'm use to. I then popped in some Pink Floyd, The Wall Live, and that did it. The bass is pretty respectable. I have them in the corners of the room about 18' appart toed in about 25-30 degrees. I experimented with tilting them back a little. I put 1x4 under the front. I think I liked them a little better tilted. The longer I listened the better they sounded[] Oh, and Wife likes them too. At first she was like "Those look like some home-made wooden boxes you built in the garage", but she warmed up to them. It took her a little while to warm up to the cornwalls too. She doesn't like change, but after she sees the change is good, then she's ok. with it. The best part is I don't think I'm gonna have to part with the cornwalls either--not sure where I'm gonna put them but they're stayin too.[] My wife thinks I'm crazy, but she gets just as attached to them as I do. She is definitely a Klipsch gal. Her favorites are still the RF-7 II's. She says those are her speakers. I like them too. I've convinced her that you don't have to like one better than the other. It's ok to love them all. Back to the La Scalas-- I took some pics, but I can't seem to get my memory card to work with my work computer. I'll have to upload them when I get home. One question about the name-- La Scala. What's the story with that name. I know where and why on the other heritage names, but I don't know where la scala came from. I never really researched them that much, because quite frankly they never really were my favorites. I didn't see my self ending up with them. Funny how things work out[] They will likely be with me a long time. Khorns may happen some day, but I'm done looking (for a while). I'm still not sure about to sub or not to sub though. I think I'll probably end up getting one, but I'll have to find one that can keep up with the la scalas. I didn't try my SW-450's with them because I don't think they're up to it. Anyway, end result--love love love the la scalas. Thanks Hogman--yer not getten em back[]
  14. Well I couldn't resist Hogfan's La Scalas.[] Great price and he's only about 10 minutes away from my house. It was great getting to meet another forum member. I've got them resting snug in my garage right now. I will give them a listen tonight--which means I'll have to find a temporary spot for the cornwalls [*-)] My plan was to patiently wait for some khorns to come to me, but lately I've been a little worried that my less than perfect corners would have me frustrated if/when I got some khorns. So, I had kind of settled on just keeping the cornwalls, which sound great in those corners. Well, then I saw Hogfan's post yesterday morning and the wheels went to spinning again. So, the new plan (for now) is to listen to the LS for a while, then CW's again and ultimately decide who gets to stay. If its the LS, I may want to supplement them with a sub. I'll have to see. I've heard it both ways all over this forum as to whether they need a sub or not. They will be soley for 2-channel music--as the RF-7 II's handle the ht duties. At some point in the near future I will have to make a tough decision, because I already know I'm not going to want to part with either one. I'll get some pictures up of them in there new home soon.
  15. Will do. It was a great transaction. Hogfan was great to deal with. He too is a stand-up guy. I've got them home in the garage. I hope to give the a test run this evening. I'll start a new thread in 2-channel to discuss.
