  1. I think that i would be happier with the Cornwall. You're right that the Cornwall was made to be a center to the Khorn. Because of that, it doesn't do as well as the Chorus II for a full range set up. Funny thing about that is the Cornwall is still being made and not the Chorus. BTW, that's a real nice looking RC-64 you're offering.
  2. I have a Belle as a center to the Khorn. It works great where two seemed to be too much. It might need a little TLC, but that's still a great price. GLWS
  3. What size is your room / spread of the speakers. I have one Belle as a center to Khorn, both Belle are too much for my liking in a room that's ~ 20' x 24' speakers on the wide wall. With both, instead of a wall of sound there is mostly center. I want to try a pair of Cornwall for a center. A lot less mid horn and a lot more bass.
  4. I would have done the same, and have before.
  5. I think that I've seen those before Why are they back?
  6. Yep. What the seller put was Old Altech Horn Speakers SOLD - $100 (Maryland Heights) Someone did very well to get at least 2 horns with drivers for $100.
  7. +1 I scored one VOTT with the original drivers. I was surprised at what they bring on the bay.
  8. I see it pays to spell Altec, "Altech" in the search
  9. If someone knew the 'client' a better deal would be made.
  10. To me, this one is a very respectable looking receiver. I really like the grey face plate, 80 wpc of SS power and MOSFET transistor sound. The bad: (1) it has a chew place in the RR of the side plate (see pic). It's not factory installed and I'm sure it was disheartening to the owner at the time. (2) It runs hot. Everything that I read said that it's what these do. I ran a very small fan on a switched outlet on the receiver. This one would be perfect for a main listening area or a bedroom system. All I ask is $200 and that you give it a good home. I can put it in my shop, but my wood shop is dusty and the 2080 deserves better than that. This is another one that if no one else wants, I will be happy to keep. A stock internet pic and an pic showing the bad spot.
  11. I know that later, Pioneer made their equipment. It seems that Foster Electronics made them at that time. I'll look into it. It's shown in page 16 of this 1982 catalog
  12. Thanks and yes, it holds its own. It walked on the big Kenwood.
  13. I didn't take Realistic as makers of nice equipment until a few years ago when I bought this one. I went to demo the first pair of Forte that I bought, and he was using this one to show them. I bought the Forte and a Luxman 1050R, but couldn't get over the looks and sound of the STA 2300. A couple of weeks later I went back and bought the Realistic and a 160 wpc Kenwood KR9600. The Luxman and Kenwood were cycled in and out of the mix for a couple of years and eventually sold, but the 125 wpc Realistic stayed. I haven't been using it lately. Though I will probably regret it later, I'm going to let someone else enjoy this one. The last ones that sold on the bay went for $406.51 and $645. The only two things that are wrong with it is a small chip in the wood and 2 of the 3 lights don't light. Though trade offers are welcome, I'd rather have $300 for it. Note: one picture is a stock internet pic and the other is one that shown the chip.
  14. SMH I can't believe these aren't dazzeling a new owner's ears. People are asking and getting this much for Forte...and the Forte are worth it. There is a huge step up from Forte to Chorus. These at this price for forum members?? I can't believe they are still here.
  15. You beat me to it. Perhaps a PM is the correct way to raise this issue. I'm sure they would have if they were the OP's
  16. "____________" < insert similar statement that's been made. Let your neighbor see the condition and the price of these. For newer, better sounding, better condition, better WAF and half that price, he'll be lucky to get near the $1400 he's asking. Good luck to him though.
  17. Though what you have will sound great, the center and surrounds are, for the most part, made for Home Theater (HT) use. When set up, they will make a movie a lot more enjoyable.
  18. Jeff, Glad to have met you and you're welcome. Like you, I bought some Forte after owning Heresy. They're not ones that one can throw down anywhere and sound their best. The grin factor gets better after you get them spaced off of the wall / corner and toed just right. James
  19. Not me, but I did see your alert before the auction ended. Thanks for that. If I'm ever going to finish my house, I'm going to have to downsize and to do that I need to stay away from you enablers
