  1. Hi I’ve got an oppo 103 and a thumb drive of music files, all m2ts file extensions. Nothing plays even though it appears as though this file type is supported. Google search isn’t helping me. Thoughts from other users? Thanks Ryan
  2. I did enough batches to do every one of my records. I cleaned them first then did the peel. Definitely quieter between passages and I get almost no dust on the stylus after plays. It’s very dry here and usually a lot of static electricity but the peeled disks don’t hold onto dust anymore. I did notice that my viscosities weren’t always exactly the same and I followed the instructions VERY closely not deviating (or so I thought). I must have but I tell you, the results are noticeable.
  3. What part of the country are you in Mark? I bought some beat up Cornwalls and refurbed everything, including new veneer (some missing factory plywood), new built by me grilles, and ultimately a Deang crossover. Fun project for sure that not only created an awesome looking speaker but one that sounded great too. I did have the original tweeter and mid though...

    What I Got Today!

    Epiphone Les Paul pro.
  5. The serial number indicates 1987. Speakers look nice-too bad they aren't meeting your needs. I haven't heard them before but all I've read says you won't get the punch in the gut bass you're looking for without adding a good sub.
  6. I removed badges and the grille was damaged slightly. Not sure if there is a good way to avoid that. 2 pair of kg4 grilles both had damage after badge removal.
  7. My 2 cents is that they wouldn't get a new(er) serial number if they were rebuilt in some way. I guess if a donor pair was used to fix damage but seems like you've got 1978 la scalas.
  8. Nice job!! I love the woodworking projects from this group. You didn't ask but I've had some good results with a brush on lacquer lately. If I had a little better set up I would spray that but on these flat surfaces it brushes on nicely. I wouldn't add color to that beautifully grained veneer. Should look great no matter what you do.
  9. I used a foam brush to apply mine. I did 6 batches and did my entire collection. I've noticed quieter transitions between tracks. Scratches will never be overcome but nice vinyl new or used should sound better. I live in AZ and there is almost no humidity so I collected a lot of dust and funk on my records. I have a partial bottle at the ready and enough elvanol to do 2 more full batches should I need it. I hope your results are similar.
  10. Nice looking. Hope you get a response.
  11. Consider making some? I have the old grills off my cornwalls and have made several pairs of grill blanks from them. Fun project.
  12. My update-I have made 6 batches according to the instructions included in the original thread by Neil. I think I've got about 325 records. I have completed cleaning all and applying the peel. I've noticed quieter transitions between songs. As noted by others, scratches are unaffected, but surfaces look new and I don't think dust will stick to any surface. oh and I still have 1.5 200 ml bottles sitting here to coat some future pick ups. One question I have though is durability. Do I lose the anti static properties if I gently wipe the surface with a damp micro fiber towel?
  13. Love the project pics and love that veneer. Will look great when done I'm sure!
  14. Tone for a few days for work. Home early today and thought I would try a couple of the vinyl I cleaned/peeled. First up was a new unopened (when I bought it) copy of Achtung Baby by U2. I broke the seal on this one and it always played dirty. Tons of dust in grooves even after a cleaning and glue treatment. Played it today. I've decided that it's just noisy in general (in between tracks). No dust on my stylus and it otherwise sounded a lot crisper while playing. Next up is a used copy of the Yes album. Always looked great but it too played dirty. Same as the first-no dust on the stylus and much better sound quality. Listening now to Rossini Overtures. William Tell and the famous five. This was a work colleagues album that was stored in his NJ basement for a long time. Playing much better than before. i think I need to make some adjustments to my table and check some cabling. It has been so long since I've listened to vinyl due to travel and dusty conditions here.
  15. I had no issue removing the film at all. Used my thumb to scrape a starting point and the whole side came off in one piece. Very fine film no matter how much I thought I glopped it on too thick. Will throw one of these in tomorrow after work. One in particular was quite noisy and dirty even after cleaning so I'm hopeful! Edit to add that it doesn't seem like there is any static after peeling. Excited to see if this is it!
  16. I cooked up a batch today. Neil was kind enough to get me some cyastat. Slurry before cooking it up. After about an hour, took the brew off the stove and began adding other items. Cooled and put into a couple bottles for easy use later. one of 5 sacrificial lambs. Sacrificial in the sense of figuring out how much to apply to make removal easier. There was enough left in my Pyrex container to do all 10 sides plus probably another 5 full albums. All of the records in this batch were given to me by a work colleague after spending many a year in his NJ basement in storage. Will update with results hopefully later today after drying and peeling. I'm in the AZ desert so dust and static are really bad. Fingers are crossed that I followed the recipe correctly and get the result I need to continue enjoying my collection!
  17. I specifically built my theater for 7.2.4 atmos. Never had a theater or multichannel prior to that so I don't have a point of reference except for movie theaters. I saw The Force Awakens in atmos at a local theater and was underwhelmed. The theater was full and the sound seemed low overall. The first movie I saw in my room was Gravity. There is a scene where Sandra Bullock is clicking a toggle switch. At first I thought one of my speakers was rattling overhead. It took a few seconds to recognize the atmos code being sent overhead. Really cool. Roger Waters The Wall is great too! i have LCR behind my screen, 2 side, 2 rear, and 4 in ceiling speakers. Atmos isn't sending full signal right? Object based doesn't need to be full range right? My biggest complaint is that there doesn't seem to be a corresponding release of atmos titles on blu-ray. EDIT: I'm running an Anthem MRX 1120.
  18. It looks like the PDF files aren't opening. And the Dropbox doesn't seem to work.

    FEED ME !!

@BigStewMan might not come naturally but it seems to me that we should all aim for a little slower life. I think we miss some things and we definitely don't always appreciate some of the things we have in life. Beautiful scenery for sure.
