The best choices I believe would be the chorus. Personally I never could listen to a two way for long periods of time. I have quartets, the smallest in the line and it does a very good job with raggae at moderate to high volume. With the higher effencency of chorus , aught to get you there. Cornwall with a sub would be a different.

Op , Seems to me that you've done what most would have suggested, that is to Take the time to listen to your system. Placement is critical, not only speaker but seating. Sacrilege!!wire not saying to go out and buy expensive wire .you're at the point where the searching will involve small, incremental changes affecting the whole, you're at the place where its in the mid range. The suggestion by moray shouldn't be ignored. I've tried it on a pair of quartet. It helped with the placement of spkr. Hope you'll have good success.

Happy father's day, I'm flabbergasted to see that everyone turn off their amp.how many remove the plug from outlets, or go so far as to turn off circuit breaker. The reasoning behind the act elude me .in cases where lightening could be a factors I'm totally infavor of turning off,and unplugging equipment from source.

For the most part I have left my solid state amp on for the better part of years no issues. Always ready to go, I do turn off my pre amp no problem there neither. Choose your poison.

Since the Cornwall are the reference speaker that the others are compared to, then yes.thou it's not perfect, for what it does it's pretty hard to surpass,disappears and images quite well.can be brought in to a room ,although it's large it's not as boxy as the LaSalle, raised off the floor it can ataint the height of the klipschorn and witk good equiptment is impressive.and pulls you in .truly an amazing and simple speaker,when you really live wilh a pair of cornwalls,there's no need to wonder you known. 😚

Haven't heard crites upgrade ,when I purchased my quartets back in 90 also heard forte and chorus .even now when I listen between Cornwall and quartets. It's a close call for me. Prefer Cornwall mid. Quartets have a lot of presence .No upgraded .

Surly, as with any electrical circuitthe effects of change in the circuit Will affect it. Is this a positive or perceive improvement. It's been said it's just different. This difference is obviously what op experienced. As an affordable improvement to his listening experience is a good thing. Did the change add something to his room.these are also conditions that needs to be consider. Please don't get me wrong the same way capacitors alter the sound, cables can and do make a difference. As do better amplification, and many compliant within the environment we listen in.

becoming the owner of a 30 year old vintage speaker ,that I imagine is in good condition even if you paid a great price to put a reletively small investment in them is more than worthwhile. The ear needs to be massage, No second guessing as to how much better they might sound, there no need to do it twice which cost more in the end, that anology of the car is good thou I think most people buying a used car would like to detail it, to at least see it looking it's best just make you feel better.

Your voltage drop would be my main concern since the conductor is able to carry more amps than the breaker, Just for peace of mind you could run #10/2. This would then be a over kill, for re-use in garage rewire tho doable. Use the 10/2 as a 120v ck, from source and using 2 inline 15 or20 amp fuses, from hot tie to two receptacles to feed eqpt. Pigtail neutral to outlets.also ground, #10 may be control by 25/30 amp breaker. That's what I'd do
