  1. I know this is not Klipsch speaker related, but I have 2005 town and country van that is running rough,I have changed the plugs, plug wires, coil pack and did a clean of the air mass unit ,the sensor and other small sensor. The van is still running rough,I can smell gas,so I am pretty sure the fuel pump is working, does anyone the forum have any idea what it could be.I use the van to pickup Klipsch speakers,so it could be considered a Klipsch forum topic.
  2. Has anyone ever painted a pair of Klipsch K-402 horns,I want to try and put together a Jubilee setup ,but I would want to dress up the large horn.
  3. IB Slammin I want to thank you for your emails for me to keep the jbl 2446h midranges,I have been using them with Volti VTK-400 crossovers and I was ready to sell them and try something else, today I kept making adjustments with crossover and I found the right combination today. The speakers now are noting short of state of the art, they image, have sweet dynamic top end with great solid bass. The music seems to continue after the last note,I also have been trying out different amps and I remember you and a couple of other members talking that Bob's Klipschorns were some of the best you have ever heard,I think the McIntosh C-34v preamp may have help you guys come to that conclusion. The tone controls and the adjustable loudness control really blend well with the speakers, thanks again for urging me to keep them.
  4. Maxell 35-180 10.5 tape with head switch at 2 channel.
  5. They definitely sound better than they look,I have a pair of Klipschorns and wanted t try the 2" horns with upgraded midranges, tweeters and crossovers, but my pair of Klipschorns are1981 vintage and are like new and I did not want to change them(other than wiring)when these popped up I thought I would try and buy them.It has been a challenge, but it has been worth it,I need to thank IB slammin for pushing me to keep the jbl2446h midranges,I wanted to change them due to the weight,I just put pieces of wood under them to help support the midranges and they sound wonderful.
  6. Mark, I have been playing the reel to reel and some tapes sound better than others, some tapes seem to try and play both sides at once.Looks like the tapes in the blue boxes have never been used.I knew when I was buying these pieces that they were going to need a little TLC,the turntable needed adjustments to the arm for the que to work plus a new belt, the preamp had a little static in a couple of the controls, the tape deck needed the heads cleaned and a couple of adjustments and the speakers needed the horns repaired and trying to square up the tops and bottom of the top hats.Everything has been interesting to say the least. The turntable sounds great, the speakers are also sounding great and the preamp is classic and has the classic McIntosh sound(I wish it had a remote)I am heading down to JC's in couple of weeks to pick up a couple of subs ,I hope to be able to listen to his system. My next goal is to try and get a pair of jubilee's.I heard a pair at Rich's home when I picked up the 3 Lascala II's he was selling on the forum a couple of months ago.My wife and I really enjoyed meeting Bob and his girlfriend when we picked up the speakers,I hate we had to meet like that with him selling his system. The reason I have been posting updates on the speakers was my hopes that he would visit the site and see that the speakers he thought so much of was being brought back to life and being enjoyed instead of sitting idle.
  7. I was able to use them and I just used some shims to support the weight of the midranges, I will really get in to tweaking the speakers tonight.I plan on listening to the reel to reel tonight
  8. I finally finished the Klipschorns tonight ,in my spare time I repaired and tried the best of my limited skills level of the top hats and horns.I think the weight of the massive JBL midranges put a lot of stress on the horns.I then had to try and get the horns to sit flush on the bass cabinets.I then sanded and painted the cabinets satin black with PPG diamond paint,I had to make braces for the top hats .I am using them with Volti VTK-400 crossovers and they sound great.
  9. I had a pair of Belles with AB crossovers and the first thing I replaced was the crossovers from AB to AA's and that made a difference, but they were still did not have the bass that I thought they should have.I then replaced the AA's with ALK cornscala universal crossovers and they really made a big difference You may want to look picking up a pair of ALK crossovers.I sold my Belles and replaced them with Lascala II's and I miss the classic look of the belles, but the new speakers sound great
  10. How much are you asking for your crossovers, thanks
  11. Looking to trade Volti VTK-400 crossovers for ALK ES-400 ES-5800
  12. I am interested if you can post or pm me pictures
  13. These are horns built by Bob Cigarbum and I will be using them with Klipschorns that will have JBL 2446h midranges, crites ct-120 tweeters,Volti vtk-400 crossovers .I will post pictures when I finally get them setup.
  14. I have been working on the Klipschorns I bought from Cigarbum, the upgraded horns had issues, splits on horns, top trim and bottom trim uneven. So far I have had to fill in with wood filler and add trim to tops, bottom and front to even everything, adding these pieces I will now have to make side pieces that screw to the tops and the bass cabinets.Below is a picture of the finished horn.
  15. I am still working on my modded Klipschorns I got from Bob(Cigarbum),today I cleaned up the massive JBL2446h midranges, they were dusty and kinda faded.I have installed 1 to the top hats and I plan on setting them up tomorrow.
  16. I private message you about the midrange speakers for sale,I am I'm interested.thanks
  17. They are modded Klipschorns with 1 upgraded 15" woofer per cabinet with JBL 2446 midrange and crites tweeters, the wings were added and they help support the enclosed backs.
  18. I am getting ready to start trying to mount the midranges to the horns,if I can't build a suitable brace or stand for the midrange I may want to get the K55m from you. What other Klipschorns did you hear to compare with Bob's pair.
  19. Alexander .the fabric was already on the grills when I got the speakers.
  20. Mark,I plan on using something to support the back of the heavy magnet, that should keep the weight off the horn.I have 1 k-55m midrange if I had another one I would try them, but I would really like to be able to use the jbl's.My main reason for buying everything from Bob was to be able to play with the 2"horns I had no idea that the midrange speakers were that heavy.I had to remove them from the to hat before loading them, I could see cracks in the frames and I knew that I did not remove them that they could have received more damage.I spent 3 days adding shims and construction adhesive and then adding brush on dampening to the horns.Bob just had the tweeters glued in,I added 2 small pieces of wood and then screwed them in.It has been a challenge to get to this point and I plan on moving them downstairs and see how they sound. The bass cabinets are so heavy I am having to wait for some help.
  21. Here is a picture of the top of the bass cabinet,Bob had them unfinished and only the back part with some paint on the edges. There were a couple of places with chunks of wood that I repaired.
  22. Mark, I am fighting the heavy jbl midranges now, they are so heavy that they caused cracks on the braces of the horns and I had to repair them and strengthen them to support the weight.I am afraid that once I install them they may crack the braces again,I am going to try and build a little stand or add a small piece of wood for the back of the midrange to sit on.I may wind up selling them and going with midrange that is not so heavy.
  23. I finished painting the cabinets of the Klipschorns I bought from Cigarbum,I am looking forward to setting them up this weekend and will find out how they sound. I could only load 1 picture.I plan on installing the huge JBL midranges on crossovers tomorrow.
  24. I bought Cigarbum's Klipschorns and I am thinking about painting them black,I would like to know what type of paint, satin ,semi gloss or flat paint.
  25. I live in Sevierville,tn how much are you asking for the tool box.
