  1. ALK-5800 & ES-400 crossovers, the 5800 was built by Al and the ES-400 were built by a Klipsch forum expert Mark1101 and he went all out with auricaps taking this great sounding crossovers to the next level.

When I first put these in my Klipschorns I had to make a couple of adjustments to my liking, the bass is deep and the sound from the top hats is crystal clear without any edge or brightness.I am downsizing and I have put my Klipschorns up for sale locally and thought they would sell better without the upgrades.Al now charges 1800+ for his crossovers and they don’t have the auricaps.1000.00 plus shipping the 4 pieces are heavy and they will not be cheap to ship. I will be glad to email more pictures

  2. I have decided I am never going to sell my Klipschorns that I have modded with Volti horns,BMS mid, ALK crossovers and B&C tweeters so I am going to list these parts from my AK-4 Klipschorns.

The AK-4 crossovers with monster cable wires

    klipsch k-55-m midranges

    klipsch k-77-m tweeters

the Klipsch midrange horns the orange gaskets are missing.

tophat grills and frames with Klipsch badge

I am the second owner owner and I bought these from an estate that was listed on the forum a few years ago and they are from a pet free smoke free home.   1500.00 and must pick up in Sevierville,Tn .

The crossovers are still in the cabinets and will be remove when buyer picks up. I have posted a picture of the back of the speakers to show the condition. If anybody ever wanted to upgrade their Klipschorns without breaking the bank here is the chance.

  3. I had a dealer send me a power cord priority mail 1 day service,I told him why pay for 1 day service that the power cord was shipping from East Tennessee to East Tennessee 84 miles from my home.USPS took 6 days to deliver.

  4. Fido if you change tubes and get it right the first time let me know,I can’t leave well enough alone.

I have he same amp as you and I have tried gold lion kt-66’s,factory el-34’s and gold lion kt-88’s and they all sound great in the amp.

KT-66 tubes have a tad more bass with a smooth top end

The bass on the factory tubes is not as deep as the kt-66

I settled on kt-88’s as to me they do everything right and when I listen with these tubes on my Klipschorns it like the artist is right in front of me.

I swapped out the 12au7’s with different types of British tubes, ge 5 star and my dealer sent me 6 sylvania 6189 made in 1967 and after a couple of weeks of break in they are my favorites.15.00 a piece and they are giant killers.

The amp was delivered today and one channel on source 1 was dead and the other sources had a bad hum that got louder as turn up the volume. I bought it off eBay and I am returning it,I was willing to send it to Raven for repairs but the seller wanted me to return it.

What I have are a pair of Klipschorns that I have painstaking modded with no expense spared below is a list up upgrades

    Volti 2” horns

ALK-5800/ES400 crossovers with ES400 audience caps upgrades built by well know Mark from the forum

    BMS-4592nd midranges

    DE-120-8 tweeters with fastrac horns

I ordered current model Klipsch badges ( Lascala II type)

Western Electric approved 14ga wires I have owned many pairs of Klipschorns and these are by far the best sounding Klipschorns I have ever owned.

I bought these from the estate of the original owner that listed them here .and they are a solid 8.5 condition with only very lite marks on the top that you have to look at with a light to see. I will post a picture of the fronts and if anyone wants more pictures I can email them.

The sound of these speakers are crystal clear and solid deep bass.Sound great with single end triode, push pull tube amps and dynamic and lifelike with solid state.Must pick up in Sevierville,Tennessee

I would love to see more pictures of your tube amplifiers. To me they can be a work of art and some of them really catch your eye when they are on. I only have a couple of my builds worthy of posting and members have already seen them so I will not post another picture. The rest of my builds are built around a plain Bud box or Hammond. I have always been more interested in the sound rather than the appearance but I love looking at really nice retail and diy builds. Very few SS amplifiers can really catch your eye like a tube amplifier does. I look forward to seeing more. The last pictures here of the Dennis Had and Seti's build look outstanding.

Here is a picture of my line magnetic lm-126ia 15 watts of tube magic based on western electric design

Sad news to hear.  We lost a true Klipsch fan and a friend.

If you didn't know Bob, I'll sum up to say he was intelligent and witty.  He certainly focused on doing the things that made him happy.  An example would be his love for sitting on his front porch and gazing over the Georgia mountains.  It was there, I got to hear past renditions of his life in places such as Vietnam and the Railroad industries.

I have yet to tell this sad news to my son who really took a liking to Bob.   My son has a love for the past and you could walk around Bob's house and ask lots of question of the historical items/ collectibles he has scattered about.  Each item had a great story.  He had a prized possession...."the Bell".

I wish I had met him sooner and I wish I my own life wasn't so dern busy that I could have made more trips to visit him.  My son asked for this time and time again.
I'm gonna find some photos and such to post here to share memories.

RIP Bob.  Teresia, thank's for your lovely hospitality.

I had the pleasure to meet Bob and Teresa when I picked up his closed back Klipschorns both were very nice and even with his health issues he wanted to help with the loading of those very heavy speakers. He told me he was having trouble hearing and that is why he sold off all of his equipment, I still have a Yamaha PF-800 I bought from him and I play it everyday.Rest In Peace Bob and thoughts and prayers to Teresa

Hey Bobby to my Knowledge all the winged C had the circle C with the wings on the glass unless rubbed off. As it looks like your tube still has print on it and no C with wings. I would bet someone put the tubes in a box they had laying around. I could be wrong though..............How the cardersounds doing, did you get them set up to your liking ?

Joe I am still playing with them and I plan on trying to dial them in today.

  14. I found out this information on Stereophile’s webpage

So which Svetlana is the tube that is true? If you are talking about "new old stock" (NOS)—tubes made before 2000—the words "Svetlana Electron Devices" and the stylized S are what to look for. For recent issues, look for the "winged C." The name Svetlana is still on Saratov-made devices.

My tubes have Svetlana Electron Devices withe the stylized S logo, I know these tubes sound great in my Dennis Had Inspire Hot Rod power amp.
