  1. $250 plus shipping (real heavy).  I purchased this new from SI and opened the box upon delivery to verify the condition (which was perfect) but never completed my 2nd enclosure so it’s never been used.

If there’s any interest I’ll pull it from the box for some current photos.

  2. My old 2nd hand B&K AV5125 has developed a glitch.  It will turn on and work for a few moments before shutting off.

When this glitch started occurring the amp would work for longer periods of time before shutting down.  The working duration shortened over time and now it basically shuts down immediately.

Has anyone experienced something similar and know what might be the cause?

    Thanks

  3. Hi yall, I'm resurrecting my old thread regarding an issue I've had since completing my subwoofer build.

Specifically, I've always struggled with a distracting hum from my subwoofer.  It was to the point where I would rarely turn it on and was very frustrated after working through what may be causing it.

Well, I happened across a Monoprice brand XLR to RCA cable on Amazon which would let me bypass the Art CleanBox pro that I had in-line between my receiver and subwoofer amp.  I've never seen a cable in this configuration before and thought it was worth a shot to isolate the CleanBox as the source of the hum.

Sure enough, the hum completely disappeared when I pulled the CleanBox out of the system.  Even with my subwoofer amp gain turned all the way up there is no hum.

Naturally this creates another problem since the receiver's subwoofer out jack doesn't provide the same signal level as I was getting through the Cleanbox.  Do you guys know of another way to compensate for the loss of gain that the CleanBox was providing?  Of course I could just turn up the gain on the sub, but i'm still not getting the same oomph as I was with the CleanBox.

I'm also wondering if I maybe had a defective CleanBox...what do you think the odds are of that?

  4. You can always build a box for the driver and use an external amp like a Inuke to power it.  What was the asking price of the driver you almost bought?

Problem with going this route is that if you're going to build a box for a DIY sub, you might as well buy an 18" Ultimax instead of the 10" Klipsch driver.

So, what's the rest...of the story?

Just happened to be the first guy to respond to the Facebook Marketplace ad the seller posted yesterday.

Honestly I worried that it might be a scam because of the low price and poor photos, but the seller was located in a nice neighborhood and he was very responsive to messages.

Remarkably, the seller was knowledgeable of what he was selling and was familiar with Klipsch.  He just seemed in a rush to sell.  Super nice guy too.
