Thanks for all the replies. I have about 15 or so hours on them now and things are indeed improving. Shakey

Does anyone have experience with the CW IV and how many hours they need? Mine sound a little tight and bright with only a dozen or so hours on them?

I will finally get to hear my pair of CW IVs tomorrow night, you got me salivating now........ Shakey

If you have a Tidal or Quobuz subscription you can always download files in lossless or hi res to your phone and stream it from there using a wired connection. I do this when I travel to someplace that doesn’t have WiFi. Use Bluetooth if you have to, if it’s just a garage system for background music you probably won’t notice the difference in sound quality. Cornwall IV ... Love 'em or Hate 'em

Well I have to say the spatials are sold and boxed and ready to ship on Friday. I don’t usually do it that way, but I guess my faith in the CW IV is pretty strong. We will see. Shakey -
Bluetooth and sound quality probably shouldn’t appear in the same sentence together unless terrible is mentioned in there somewhere........ Shakey

Man the prices of used cornwalls have really crept up. I bought a pair of 1987 CW IIs about 6 or 7 years ago for 600.00. They were in great condition with the exception of a drink ring on top of one speaker. I know I lucked out at that price, but now you routinely see them for 1500.00. Shakey -

Just placed my order for a pair in walnut. Really looking forward to it. Shakey -
Looks like they are black ash.

Tuesday bump. Cmon guys, somebody out there needs a nice new rack......... Shakey
-
Well I don’t equate sound quality with wpc or how much something weighs. I e heard those onkyos so that’s what I go with.
-
Looks nice, congrats. Now please feed them something other than that Onkyo...... Shakey
-
Bump. And I will lower the price of the rack to 300.00 for a local sale. Shakey

Thanks Joe 👍

have for sale a VTI BL 503 rack which is very handsome with cherry shelves and silver frame/poles/end caps. I have had this rack literally two weeks, so it is in new condition. I have decided to go a different way in my music room, hence the sale. Local pick up or I can meet a reasonable distance to 24502. I also have the matching amp stand that is new as well. Retail price is 600.00 and my asking price is 375.00

All kinds of NOPE going on right there...........

Well I have a pair of speakers that I absolutely love. That said, if you were in driving distance I would give these a shot. They look too good not to sound simply amazing. Shakey

My very first tube amp was an original RM9 purchased in 1999. I soon bought another one as a spare. In 2006 I sold the last one but later bought it back from the guy I sold it to. Years later, I fondly remembered it as one of the best amps I had owned. So recently I stumbled on a Mark II that was at the MR factory in Napa. Roger had refurbished it last year before he passed. I immediately bought it and received it a couple of weeks ago. It was just like welcoming an old friend into your home. I am very happy I have it. I only spoke to Roger one time when I lost an output transformer on my first RM9. He was very helpful and found one he had laying around. This would have been around 2001-2002. Long after the amp had gone out of production. He sent it out and I got the amp repaired locally. RIP Roger. Shakey

The amp is sold.

I understand completely. BTW, I have owned two Modulus 3a preamps, it’s a fine piece to be sure. The Carver beat out two other amps in my system, a Decware Torii II and VTL ST-150. You can change the sound of the Carver by varying the bias. You can make it sound more or less tubey, or Goldilocks “just right”, is how I would describe it. I’ve had it for about 8 months. Shakey

You would not be disappointed if you decide to buy. This is a helluva an amp.

Well I've already boxed it up. But to be honest, I'm not crazy about opening it up. Doesn't bother me really, but it might be off putting to a potential buyer. Shakey
