1. Selling because I’ve decided to go a different route to power my new subs - once I get them built.

These are brand new. I’ve only rack mounted them. They’ve never been plugged in or turned on. They have been boxed back up. Just waiting to be shipped.

Looking for what I paid for them before tax. So, $540 each plus shipping. Willing to ship anywhere.

2. A ton of thanks goes out to Mike Rowan611!  He sold me the Heresy pair that he inherited from his father about 10 years ago.  They are my new surround speakers, replacing a pair of RS-7s.

I did what I've done to my Heresy LCR: opened them up, loosened and tightened all the screws in the crossover to ensure a good connection.  I had a ton of 3/8" wide speaker gasket foam from Parts Express left over so I sealed the backs of both of them as well.  That's all I'm going to do to them, at least for now.

I adjusted their output level to match them with everything else and put on Star Wars IX to test them out.  It was a definite improvement in overall blending of sound from front to surround.  I believe these are considered Heresy 1.5 since they have the E-2 crossover and K-53-K midrange so they aren't exactly the same as my LCR with K-55-V midrange and E crossover.  But, they sound fantastic and I can't wait to listen to some multichannel music on them!

Extremely happy that I finally have my 5 Heresys!  [emoji3]

Hey Mark. Already taking care of them! Exactly why I sold them to you. I hope you enjoy them for many more years. There is a small part of me that misses just having them. But, I’m glad they’re being put to good use.

I really do need to get up to your house and listen to your room.

4. I am across the river in La Crosse and would love to see the H1's.  Unfortunately I cannot message you as I have been lurking but never joined.  I'd be grateful if a mod could forward my email address to@Rowan611

Man, I’m sorry. I never received any notification that I had been mentioned. I’m really sorry!

5. the value  depends on which drivers , you will find  inside the speaker-and the condition of the speakers , everything counts -grilles -badges and scratches

plus , if you have the K55M  midrange driver , the speakers are worth more than  the K53 midrange driver--  on the other hand  the prices of Heresies have soared lately -so it's a sellers market as we speak

Looks like the k53.

6. Still for sale. But, I sold my 1299s today and I’ll be using these for my center for the time being. I can open them up later tonight and see what the internals are (they’re in my theater now).

Happy to discuss offers also. I’ll get the driver info in a bit.

7. did you open the backs , and did you check which drivers are lurking underneath

Nope. I was there today rearranging stuff and I’ve got them turned around. But…it was another busy day.

8. I just wanted to say that I had the privilege of meeting Rowan611 today when I purchased two THT subwoofers from him.  Great guy and while I didn't get a chance to check these Heresys out I'm sure whomever ends up with them will be very pleased!

Thanks wuzzzer….great to meet you. Enjoy those THTs

9. did you take pictures of the Drivers inside the speaker , that would allow me to give you a selling price recommendation

I haven’t even had the chance to go open them up.

11. open the back panel of the Heresy speakers , you  tell right away , if you see the B2 network ,then these are 80's Heresies based on the tags on the crossover

I will. Tomorrow. I spent the day moving boxes up stairs, into a truck, then into storage and other to donate. Lol. Thanks for your help Randy! Is my price fair?? I really don’t know.

12. the tag you are showing can be ---translated this way -so serial no 8536144----------the 85  determines the year ---the 3  indicates the week , so these were made in 1985 on the 3rd week of January  ,  the tag does also coincide with the speaker - HBR  -means Heresy raw birch , which is the finish of these speakers-

in the late 70's klipsch used to engrave the serial number in the top center , right above the woofer door , I dont see any engraving -klipsch stopped engraving speakers in the early 80's
-if these speakers are indeed late 70's , then the drivers should be k-22 , k55V-K77 round or square magnet , and the E network --the midrange horn would have yo be the k-700 metal horn , versus the plastic k-701

All good to know. It also lines up with my memory of getting them at the PX on Fort Leavenworth.

13. yep , most definitely 1985  ,  the last Heresy 1  speakers made , before the introduction of the Heresy II  ,  you can remove one the rear covers ,and look to see what the internal drivers are ------- these could be  K22 woofer or k 24 -K53 midrange -K701 horn , k77M  tweeter  , and the B2 Network

I just asked my Dad, and he says he bought them in Alabama in the late 70s. Looks like I’ll have to open them up after all. I think he is misremembering.

14. GLWTS ---too bad , but they are quite far away --1985 - RAW BIRCH

Are you saying these are from 1985? It’s definitely possible. Seeing as I was only 8 at the time. I honestly can’t remember if he bought them in Kansas before the move, or after. I’ll ask.

15. It's got to be C3PO, right?  I thought he and R2D2 were the only characters to appear in every Star Wars movie.  Princess Lea was loading him up with the secret plans to the Death Star at the end, but I don't know if she said his name.

Nope. Its Skywalker.

16. Been watching PEII in 4K and also watched Patriots Day. PEII is simply outstanding, and is reference material for 4K.

I'll admit, after the initial bombings in Boston, I didn't really follow the search for the two brothers. Not because I didn't care, I was simply too busy with a 1 year old. That said, I found Patriots Day to be a very well done movie. I enjoyed how it was paced and learning about what went into the search and all the sacrifices made along the way. The best part, as I'm sure you can guess, is all the amazing stories of the people affected by that Monday and the days following. And, how they chose to deal with and overcome what happened to them. Another great one from Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg.

Re did it. 9.5 sub off set. Another question. 2 channel play back has distance and level calculations. Obviously we keep those settings for HT but I tend to be seated in the middle of my listening area for 2 ch playback. So if I reset those distance and particularly the levels to match would that in any way affect the Audyssey HT calculations? Sometimes I use a music profile but I do like to run it pure as well. Not sure if pure bypasses Audyssey but it seems to as the levels are +- .5 Db Lt and Rt. vs -3.5/-7.5 Lt and Rt respectively.

-9.5 is better. I use a MiniDSP and keep my sub out through the receiver at -10. I raise my trim level through the mini. The only time I raise it through the receiver is for music.

Yes, pure bypasses Audyssey and only runs the l/r and no subs. I never use Pure.

18. Having 2 THTs might make me biased. But, honestly for what I have in them, and the fact that they can go with me when we move, they're hard to beat. I understand that a f20 might have more output. But, I would rather have two more THTs. I've said this before here, and I'll say it again. I've never, ever, ever heard a bad noise come from either sub. No matter what I do. I'll break the damn house before those subs give out.

IB interest me. Maybe one day, when we're in our forever home, I'd consider one. But, until then....it's THTs for me. I plan on building 2 more, sometime.

I'd like to know what Youth decided on. Did you ever get to hear a THT?
