  5. A brilliant debut release. It was largely ignored at the time (1978), and was re-released with this black and white cover when Tubeway Army had come out of obscurity to score a massive hit with the classic track 'Are 'Friends' Electric?' from the 'Replicas' album. This album was clearly produced on a very meagre budget, but it stands the test of time perfectly. The production is brilliant, and the guitar, bass and drums (this is a less electronic album than you might expect) are fantastically powerful. The quality of the tracks clearly demonstrate the early genius of Gary Numan, and the lyrics offer much to admire also.
