  1. Good mornin' gang. Slight change of plans here ... had to postpone holiday side trip. Woke up yesterday feeling crappy and finally decided I couldn't risk spreading anything to little kids, etc. so will wait a few days and reschedule. Feeling much better already, of course, but at least I can help Better Half Unit get ready for the family on Thursday. Spent most of yesterday reading, cleaning up my disgraceful looking den/office and watching the Peyton-less Broncos pull off a great win.

Still debating whether to attempt a turkey smoking outdoors with cold, crummy weather predicted. Will likely do 2+ hours on the smoker then off to the oven to finish. Almost wish I'd bought a Green Egg smoker instead of my oversize Weber on steroids. Oh well, we'll perservere.

    Cheers to all.

  2. Mornin' all. Getting ready for my pre-holiday side trip to see my daughter and 2 of the grandkids. Not the best timing since we have a house full on Thanksgiving and Better Half Unit will have to do most of the prep, but she is ok with my going to see them.

    Have a good day, all.

  3. Just wanted to give out a quick good morning and cheers to the gang. Didn't check in yesterday and have a bunch of likes to catch up on.

Nothing big brewing here ... just really cold with snow on the ground. The mountains got a bunch of it with as much as 18" of new powder. Great for the skiers.

    Happy Saturday gang.

  4. Hey folks ... happy Thursday. Looks like I missed some good stuff yesterday afternoon.

Steve ...sounds like positive news and nothing too serious although experience tells me it really pays to stay on top of heart issues. Stay healthy, friend.

Carl ... beautiful work. Thank you for the pics and progress reports.

Planning a little side trip in a few days to meet up with our daughter. She'll be in the States for a week or so. Can't wait till they are back on a permanent basis.

    Have a good day everyone.

  5. Hi Joe and the gang ... like Carl, i keep sane (yeah, i know that’s up for argument) by prayer and i don’t expect anything better from this world. I’m saddened by what goes on; but, not at all surprised.

Had to cut my week-long business trip short and am back home today.  Up in the mountains at a conference.  2 hours from the beach; but, there was snow on the ground and it was 29 degrees last night.  After lunch today, had to use my Asthma inhaler, which speeds up my heart.  This time it also triggered a MAJOR episode of pre-ventricular contractions--a new condition that i’ve been blessed with.  Took one of the heart pills that the doctor gave me; but, it didn’t stop them.  After about 90 minutes, my chest was starting to hurt a little (from the POUNDING heart or building anxiety or both?) and i was starting to get concerned, so i decided to drive home and check in with the cardiologist in the morning. When they first diagnosed this (last June) i had some heart tests done including a nuclear stress test on the treadmill--all checked out okay and no blockage.  But, still too new of a condition for me to be able to self-diagnose when it’s too serious to ignore and when it’s just a nuisance.

Steve, I had a similar experience about 5 or 6 yrs ago and wound up in the ER. Been on a medication called Metoprolo or Metoprol ever since and it seems to do the trick. Sometimes the solution is fairly simple and painless. Hope it is for you, too. Chuck

  6. Snowy morning in Denver metro and not too bad. Pretty serious stuff to the east and south of us though, with some stretches of I-70 and I-25 closed. The Weather Witches are ecstatic, of course. None of this is shocking in Colorado (we have permanently intstalled barrier gates on all interstates which can be closed whenever needed). The local media likes to forget this.

Think Baxter and I will kick back today for a while. Should be fine later in the day.

    Cheers to all.

  7. Happy Monday gang.

JL ... good picture. Brings back a lot of personal memories not only of childhood but my grown daughter's childhood. Leaf piles are irresistable.

Joe.. good looking meatloaf. One of our favs. Better half unit has appointed me designated meat loaf guy. Have you ever tried a blend of ground beef and Italian sausage? Usually do 2 lbs beef and 1 lb Italian along with some good spices. Bacon strips on the top are good too.(Just need to flip oven on broil the last few minutes to crisp).

Gonna be a nice day here .... for a while. Weather Witch sez we're gonna get blasted with some snow early evening and overnight.

    Check back later.

  8. What a great experience! Glad you enjoyed it, I'm sure that will bring a smile everytime you look back on it. Hopefully you didn't spill your coffee taking those tight turns! ;-)

Thanks, Dave. I think these guys are just local but not certain. If interested, check out oxotic.com. Think their name is Oxotic Supercars or something like that. They have 2 Lambos, a Porche and one or 2 other offerings. You can sign up for longer drives than the one I had, but gets pricey.

    Oh yeah, no coffee spilled!

  9. Mornin' all. Missed ya yesterday but had quite a day. Better Half unit bought me a Groupon for my B-day back in Sept to drive a Lamborghini Spyder 15 miles through the Golden Gate Canyon a few miles from our home. Yesterday was the day and what a kick. That is one magnificent machine. Now I just need to win the lottery to own one.

Gonna try one more leaf mulching today since the Weather Witch is supposed to be turning on us again in the next day or so.

Cheers and have a great Sunday everyone.

  10. Good morning and Happy Friday. Very chilly morning here but supposed to hit 60  Sat. and Sun. before it dips again. Can't trust the Weather Witch.

Should be an interesting day. Finally gonna replace our antique wall oven for a new one. Our cook top crapped out on Thanksgiving day year before last and I'm determined that won't happen with the oven. Fingers and toes all crossed that the new one fits the space perfectly, or at least without mods of any kind. just have to be careful that I don't trip over all the crossed toes.

Gonna kick it up a notch for 15 minutes on Sat. Better Half bouthe dayght me 15 min behind the wheel of a Lambo for my b-day in September and tomorrow's the dayI get to drive it. She found a deal on Groupon of all places. Never heard of such a thing before but should be a kick.

Nismo - great pics. Where did you get them? I remember a vacation off Lake Michigan as a kid but never say anything like that. Incredible.

    Enjoy the day gang.

  11. So UPS is what happened to Carl's toaster ... not surprising. All this toaster talk is making me hungry.

Temps seem to be trending up a bit on our side of the continental divide and we should be rid of our snow in the next day or so. Meantime, Baxter is having a blast and we are back into foot drying mode when he comes in.

This will be a good day to play some tunes and 'tune-up- for a jam tomorrow.

    Cheers.
