  1. Very nice work. Wish I had the courage to take on cabinet work. I got a heck of a deal on Cornwall III's several years ago and love 'em. The only rub (and the reason they were a deal) is one of them has some cabinet damage on a front corner most likely the result of shipping screw up. New veneer would not be enough to fix it. If you are patient, you'll get these sold and probably for close to asking price. Good luck.
  2. My hat goes off to whoever is selected and willing to serve. Thank you Chad for seeking input. Many good nominations.
  3. Fair price and great speakers. I've got the 30's up front and 10's as surrounds and would not trade them. Best of luck!!
  4. Welcome aboard. Looks like you'll fit right in!! Chuck
  5. You guys are brave. I thought I was doing well not to mess up a pair of Heresys in the back of a Pathfinder some years back. The key is smart placement and good buffers (thick blankets, etc.) between speakers.
  6. Man, that's a hard question, but I think it would involve several different systems including Klipschorns, Palladiums and Cornscalas .... some for HT and some for 2 channel. Upgraded amps all around and a better HT sub for sure!! And don't forget the projection screen, and on and on .........
  7. I picked up an RW-12d from Newegg on a close out about 18 months ago and we've been very satisfied. It was a steal, so maybe look for any current close outs. I was aware of Klipsch' reputation for less than stellar quality in subs, but the price made the risk worthwhile. The bad part of this is we are now spoiled and if something goes wrong, I'll feel compelled to buy another sub and will probably have to pay through the nose for it. I would not spend substantial $ for a Klipsch sub based on the problems I've read about on this forum and elsewhere. Hope that changes in the future.
  8. American Hustle. It's not brand new (2013) and not big on the effects, but it's a fine movie. Well acted and highly entertaining.
  9. I could be off base, but the author of the article is probably in no position to claim that digital is "better fidelity." He states that he doesn't even own a turntable and proudly states that he is not about to buy one. Likely has no vinyl collection. Maybe he's just "read a lot" to justify his opinion without much personal experience. Many of us who own BOTH vinyl and cd's and have substantial experience with both, would beg to disagree with his opinion. I think it's perfectly legit to prefer digital but it's a lot easier to respect such opinions when they come from people who also have a legit (experienced) basis for comparison. This guy doesn't seem to have it.
  10. Tannoy has a great name. Value? It's really more a matter of current market price and the only way I know how to find that is to research sale and asking prices for the same speaker in about the same condition and age. I'd love to get hold of a pair of Tannoy Westminsters but doubt that I could afford them. Happy hunting!!
  11. Great review, Steve and nice recommendation for Dean. There's something to be said for keeping it in the Forum community.
  12. Sorry to hear. He was a real talent.

    What I Got Today!

Love the Belles. I passed on a chance to buy a pair 5 or 6 years ago. Thought the guy wanted too much and he wouldn't budge on price. Probably should have bitten the bullet then. Next time. Please let us know how they are working out for you.
  14. Bose new slogan - "Sound to grind your teeth to."
  15. There's some hope. Whenever we have the kids and their friends over, I usually notice at least one of them paying attention to the uncompressed, full range sound. Seeds can be planted, perhaps!
  16. Grossly unfair that he still has that much hair!! (or appears to)
  17. Welcome and good luck with your sale. Sorry you need to sell them, but you should find a buyer.
  18. Excellent looking work. If one of us lived closer, I'd turn my CW III's over to you for modding.
  19. Bless you, Amy. Enjoy the journey. Great job Marty and all who participated!!
  20. I use Marantz separates in my HT (with KLF 30's as mains) and it is a wonderful combination. Marantz and Klipsch go well together. The difference between my current setup and my old Denon avr is like night and day. Highly recommended. Good luck in your adventure.
  21. This one seems to be getting far more attention than it deserves. I'd recommend a free Saturday afternoon, a can of Rustoleum and call it good!
  22. Well don't be too moderate in your moderation. Check in often!!
  23. Looks like you'll be having a conversation with Mr. Crites about a new "subwoofer". Congrats on the purchase/win. Nice looking speakers. Chuck
  24. I try to view this life as a journey to be enjoyed, not a destination. When I do that I can take in the gifts today brings. I think that's the deal - stay in today and in the moment.
