  1. I would keep an eye on Sears adds, they have very good multi-testers and on sale some times.I think they are much better than R.S. and i dont go to R.S. anymore, all they are is a phone store now....lol...model nimber of one i got is 82139 autoranging multimeter ,,,and it checks capacitors to ,,,some have asked about that on the board.I also bought another one on sale awhile back...it is digital and analog type meter,,,,but i use this little autoranging one more often..lol
  2. We need to know what kind of trim you have,,,,around that time there were two trims being used.Flat screen door type trim,,,its nailed on you can see the nail heads and the cloth is stapled on.The baseshoe moulding type is kinda rounded..the grill is velcroed on then. Why do you want to take the grill off?If you got the flat trim that grill cloth is stapled on there with a lot of staples and a bear to get off.I replaced my flat trim with baseshoe moulding and new grills from klipsch....click on mt profile you can see pic....Rick
  3. Welcome guy....nice to see fellow Scala owner...click on my profile and see some ideas for your Scalas.....Rick
  4. The woofers should be less than 250.00 each even from Klipsch...the tweeter can be fixed with a kit....even complete directions on here to do it on this board.Just ask and you shall be helped,,,,welcome ....Rick
  5. Well i vote for base shoe moulding...the grill Klipsch will send you will not cover the whole top,,,it was made to go inside the grill trim. Also 1/4 round will not work.Go to my last ten posts and see my pics,i think you will like,,,,,Rick

  8. hi,well i dont have hiss at all,,,,i also dont have a 5-7 channel set up....but it seems like you have a lot of stuff that could be causing the hiss....maybe you should sell some of that high dollar stuff and buy another house with the cash..lol..just kidding,,,but maybe some of the stuff you have added makes the hiss,,,from my view simple is better.Try hooking up a 2 channel amp with a cd player...maybe hiss will go away then....Rick
  9. The transitor thing is called a crossover....they usually dont go out....so i would replace the wire from the solder joints to the horns....not hard to do,,,,should fix the problem. If you wiggled the wires and it comes and goes then its got to be the wires or the connections....not rocket science ..lol...You might try re soldering the conection first... use soldering iron and just remelt the solder joint....might just be a bad solder joint.let us know how it goes...plenty of help on here for you....Rick
  10. Wellcome to the board....im sure we can help you out,we need to know what model cornwall you have.....if the back has screws in it take it off.....check all connections.....unplug and wiggle...could be corrosion on connections. If the problem stays with the same speaker all the time....thats good kinda..lol.If you do a search you can see pictures on the board of insides of cornwalls so you will be more at ease at looking inside it.Static is usually easy to fix.Dont be afraid to ask more stuff...we will help...Rick

  17. Since your the one who found this board,i assume your the smart one..lol...but if they are nice Scalas and you dont listen to them first you will be sorry later. You only need 10-25 watts for Scalas,i have a HK430 ,25 watts a channel....will run you out of the house with volume at 9 oclock believe me...lol....click on my profile and read mods you can do to make them sound even better to....well hope you keep them nothing even comes close to heritage speakers Rick

  20. You could buy two new woofers and sell your old one to someone who needs an older one. That way you would know for sure the woofers are 100%ok and go on from there fixing up your Belles.rick
  21. Did you see the guys Belles that were white and now look sweeeeet,,,,you can fix almost anything....no need to re-veneer all of it.My LaScalas have chips and scratches, i would like to fix but hey that would mean not being able to listen to them oh no!!!!!!good luck man...rick

  23. HI Erica, I say get a hk430 reciever, pair of Heresys or LaScalas...then if budget is tight, just use a portable cd player it can be hooked up to the reciever easy.Get the speaker wire from home depot or walmart. If the speakers are going on hard floor get some grippers to put on bottom. Also you can click on my profile and look at last ten posts ,alot about the hk and grippers there. You will be the envy of your friend i bet, no matter what he has cause you will have a real good system for vey few dollars....well good luck...rick if you do get hk430 make sure you go to the hk posts on cleaning and changing the fuses..very easy to do.....hdbr has posted a lot on this subject to
  24. click on my profile and then go to last ten posts,,,should be all kinds of stuff for Scalas...lol,,also if yours are on hard floor check out the gripper posts to,,,rick
  25. i saw this post never got a reply,,,,so my guess is the wire is looped to help with the hooking it to the woofer...or maybe just a little to long,,,,,you can make it any length you want,,,,,just keep it away from the woofer so it doesnt vibrate on it...maybe hdbr can help on this to,,,,,rick..ps did you do the gripper thing on yours yet ...if they are on hard floor it helps a lot
