  1. ...and what about Sons of the Pioneers?
  2. Don't forget about Aaron Copland and his opera Billy the Kid or Appalacian Spring.
  3. Although I have a Klipsch 5.1 system in my living room I'm very happy to listen to 2 channel stereo in my office with Klipschorns and an old Scott amplifier. The 5.1 is for home theatre and the office set-up is for music. I pull a zero gravity chair into the right place for listening to music and find myself falling into a trance with the amazing sounds all around. I listen to classic rock, classical, light jazz and what I think of as mood music.
  4. I'm having a hard time trying to understand why we have to compare all these great bands in a competitive way. Why must one be more superior than the other? For many years I've puzzled over why The Beatles are better than The Rolling Stones or that John Denver is better than Elton John. Come-on, they're all great in their own way! I can't think of a Beatles song I dislike. Yes, some are better than others. What band can say more? p.s. Moody Blues have always been one of my favorite bands along with the Beatles as well as a lot of other bands. Days of Future Past is one of the albums that really got me into listening to modern music.
  5. I've always found Peter I. to be one of the most emotional composers to listen to and that makes him my most favorite of all. Emotion has been my most moving reason for listening to whatever music I am moved to. OK. some say he did the pop songs of his time but what makes me a big fan is the 'heart' that he always put into the music.
  6. OK, idjits, yes they were influenced by others. They unabashidly named themselves after Buddy Holley and the Crickets; so what? McCartney and Lennon have written more hit songs than any other living group. How can you down-rate that? sorry, wish I could spell better.... p.s. Thebes, do you really hate the Beatles or are you playing devil's advocate?
  7. I've used Old English oil on my Klipschorns and fine furniture for years and have always been very satisfied. Keeps the veneer and wood finishes from drying out and looks very good without collecting a gummy finish.
  8. My favorite rendition is a classic recording with Leonard Bernstein directing the New York Symphony.
  9. Hey Thebes. I used to correspond with you some years ago. Thanks for the post; but with so many great songs how can you actually choose only three favorites? A few years back I bought the box set of re-mastered CD's of all the American releases. Both the stereo and mono recordings. I get a kick out of both and am still not sure if I prefer one over the other. As far as favorites are concerned I can't think of any Beatles songs that I dislike although some, Helter Skelter for instance, are not my favorites and the White album is probably my least favorite. But there's still some great music on it and it's still a lot of fun to listen to. By the way, is there still an annual meeting of the Klipsch club around the DC area? Always meant to attend the concert and club get-together.
