  1. Wish I could tell you a current average for Fortes and Chorus speakers in Nashville. Problem is so few show up anymore that when they do appear the prices are high. It is a sellers market and I look every week for things to buy but don't expect to find anything. I remember buying gas for 33 cents a gallon too in the early 70's.
  2. How does a bad strain of flu behave in similar circumstances?
  3. Or there is yet another great Chinese idea. Kill the second baby and punish those who dared to dream of families.
  4. Yeah you know people can look at you bug eyed and hysterically jump up and down and say conspiracy nut. I remember a conversation I had with the wife of the chief Astrophysicist at Marshall Space Flight Center in the early 90's. I was in the middle of building an emulsion system for cosmic ray studies and one day in conversation she mentioned that the population would have to be controlled somehow. My question to her was who decides who is not to be here and she said I did not have to worry. I never went further with my questioning but have never forgotten there are people who think like that in positions to do just that.
  5. That's funny right there. I went to the listing and paid no attention to the date.
  6. Very best La Scala ever made in my opinion. If these were close to me they would be gone.

    Guns Guns Guns

The funny thing about all this outcry over evil black "assault" weapons is that the outcry comes from individuals who actually think the cops will be there to protect them from harm and the politicians/"intellectuals" that know the Bill of Rights is the only thing preventing them from taking over the country. Then there is the quaint notion bandied about that the armed citizens that overthrew the English did not need semi-autos so why do you have to have them now? I guess if we were to project that logic to all areas of our lives, well why not I ask, we don't need cars, PC's, smart phones, planes trains and subways. No skyscrapers and no electricity. They did not have those things back then now did they. Insofar as technology goes those patriotic citizens that helped found this great nation had state of the art weapons for their day to fight with which were the equal, at least, of the British weapons. I especially love the absurdity of the argument that the Revolutionaries did not need a gun that did not even exist in their time to protect themselves so neither do we while they froth at the mouth against guns on the web which I have to say also did not exist back then. I find it also quite amusing how in Hollywood many anti gun activists have armed guards. It's the double standard of whose life is valuable and I happen to think my life is more valuable to me than they do. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-11.xls Now the link above comes from a somewhat credible source. While other firearms is not defined as to what that means I figure a semi auto rifle is oddly enough a rifle just as it sounds. And in truth if you care to dig, which I do, the FBI includes single shot, semi-automatic, pump action, bolt action and those firearms which are categorized by Democratic lawmakers as “assault weapons” in its “rifles” category. Knives or cutting instruments were used to kill 1,591 people, the 2017 crime figures show, while 403 were killed with rifles. Hence, people are four times more likely to be stabbed to death than get shot with any kind of rifle. According to the FBI report, more people were killed annually with “personal weapons” like “hands, fist, feet,” than rifles and shot guns combined. You can point to those tragedies of "mass" shootings and get all hysterical but in truth arson of nightclubs and fires from fireworks at the same are far more deadly. Ban gas cans and put authorized use only locks on car gas tanks to prevent access to deadly weapons would be my suggestion. The jihadis have proven that vehicles are effective weapons too so "Ban The Ride". https://www.bluesheepdog.com/2018/06/27/fbi-report-civilian-firearms-saving-lives/ Moral to the story is if you depend on something like CNNLOL to form an opinion you are being molded not informed.
  8. BUMP on the KPT-100's now $175 per pair. Only two sets left of KPT-200's and who knows when they will go. If anyone who is going to SWAG later this year is interested I can bring some with me.
  9. You really think the old exponential horn is worth fooling with when there are cheaper more modern design horns around? That EBay seller of 510 knockoffs has that yummy 10 x 18 horn that has been a winner here for less than $50.
  10. That's something that is possible only if the CH2's are placed right in a corner. I like the CH-1's the best because they can go anywhere and sound exactly the same. Out on your deck, anywhere in a room you name it. For some reason the old caps on Chorus speakers sound worse than old caps on other speakers to me. I have had some bought cheap because they were sour sounding. Once recapped magic happened. Replacing the tweeters is also a good thing and you do those you are golden.
  11. Real deal right there. I have two big boxes of brackets for KPT-100's and 200's. What do you think they are worth?
  12. You better go get those before they go away if they are a decent price. Better than the Fortes and CW 1,2 and 3. My favorite vintage Klipsch.
  13. For free right? Did you ask him about that?
  14. I wonder how many of the deaths are due to people like [moderator edit: political]
  15. Well the 400 experiment would be free since I have the horns and welder. The 402's while vastly superior are also vastly more expensive. Just Idle curiosity though as I would sell these before I put a chop on them. My time is for hire and I think solid copper would be best for you. Bring your car load of money and we can get started;D
  16. I wonder how the K-400 horn would do if I cut it off and made a 2" throat out of it. Wouldn't be hard to weld a mounting flange to it.
  17. So who will bring the face masks and sanitizer?
  18. Same here. Maury County regional is the largest hospital south of Nashville. Talked to a nurse at the gas pump the other day, yes neither of us had face masks, and she said they have all been tested and not one had this Wuhan thing. Do you believe this is reaI panic worthy stuff I asked? She grinned shook her head no and drove off. There are more people dying from being refused treatment for various things then there are from Wuhan around here. Now technically since Wuhan killed those people from lack of treatment I wonder if they will also be counted as Wuhan deaths. The tortured way officials are collecting data skews the result and places the blame on Wuhan when in many cases it was only the icing on the cake and the cake was already going to kill these people.
  19. OK I hear this all the time and I have just one question. How can you be exposed to this Wuhan virus if you self quarantine? The only way you could get this is if you broke the quarantine yourself and who would be to blame for that? You can get everything you need delivered to your house so if you went out you chose to run the risk.
  20. Trump does not need money and donates his President salary to various causes. He also has quite a history of philanthropy but he is not a braggart about it so you probably don't know that.
  21. OK what is a TSCM? Only reference I found was for an "industrial" KHorn.
  22. YES just like I am for the flu or whatever else may be around that I might have and don't even know since it has had no effect upon me. All this fear for so little provable risk. Stay at home if you fear but don't shut the world down for nothing. Did you stay at home for the H1N1 swine flu thing? I thought not and you did not give going out a second thought. You fear this thing today because the media tells you to fear and then never really ask if they should be trusted. We were talking about this yesterday as I was working in Nashville and not one of us even knew a person that had this wuhan flu much less hospitalized over it. We all know someone who has the flu each year though and know old people who have died from pneumonia.
  23. Driving home from working in Nashville yesterday. They were talking about keeping some sort of behavior control in place for some time yet to come. Then they say the new infections crossed 100 for a single day. So first we have this. The Davidson county is Nashville and the state and the county can't even agree on how many wuhan infections there are. So first off another indication many numbers are spurious. 626,681 is the population for Davidson/Nashville and they have something like 138 deaths now. so according to those numbers you have a 1 in 242 chance of even getting this and a 1 in 4,541 chance of death. So basically we have been locked up and businesses and peoples lives thrown in turmoil for something that does not kill as many people as the flu and also pneumonia does around here each year. You can choose to panic as do people who believe whatever CNN tells them to believe but for me this is all bogus and by the numbers I have utterly no fear of going out and about and intend to do so. For people in the identified high risk categories you make THEM stay at home while the world goes about it's business. So today the Democrat Mayor of Nashville who saw a 24% increase in tax revenue over the last three years and then spent every penny of it is now whining about losing $300,000,000 in tax revenue and will have roughly the same 24% decrease in revenue this year. He still wants to keep things shut down but will thankfully be forced to open up as surrounding counties are opening up and business will go there and not pay his Nashville bills due. His answer? While we all take pay cuts and many lose their life's savings businesses and homes because of this perfidity the government shall suffer no decrease in employment nor take pay cuts nor reduce their budgets. This idiots answer is to raise property taxes 31% to cover his swollen budget. So the people who have been made to senselessly suffer under the heavy hand of government over reach and abuse are now to pay even more so those who caused all this nonsense can get off scott free. Why are you so against the American way of life as it has been for centuries and unwilling to even consider you have been sold a big lie for nefarious purposes? I was thinking of your new icon and wondering if it was for electronics or because you consider yourself a "resistor". If you are afraid then stay home but don't tell me to. Bonus is if you are right and I am wrong if you stay at home for the next thirty years you won't get wuhan and twenty years from now when I fall into those high risk groups you can watch me pass away and then say "see I told you I was right". I was going to die anyway in short order at that point in time from something but I am not selfish enough to want to punish working people around me because i got old. They deserve the same opportunities to be successful as I had and it is un-American to take that away from them. "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) " Metro Public Health Department officials reported 2,588 cases of COVID-19 in Davidson County on Tuesday morning, a difference of 205 cases. MPHD also released the latest heat map which now includes cumulative cases in Davidson County. In its Tuesday morning update, the Shelby County Health Department reported 2,358 cases of COVID-19 in the county, 18 fewer cases than the state reports. 24. You can sure tell these are mechanical organs. Lots of clacking in the background. I wonder how pronounced that is in real life?
  25. I read about shortages and crowds of frenzied shoppers but have seen nothing like that around here. There are a few odd empty spots but very few. Hamburger is somewhat scarce. Bottled water never ran out and has gone from 1 case limit to 5 case limit. Ha Ha and Costco has a sign up now stating no returns on TP, rice or water.
