Hopefully they and their owners survived the tornadoes in Nashville last night.

Had no idea there were tornados last night until you mentioned it. That area of Nashville has a big red X on it as it was hit bad a few years ago to.

  2. Look people if Warhol's soup can was worth millions and the same for Picasso's  junk and all you could do was look at them, is not a work of La Scala art you can listen to and see worth something more than just run of the mill ones?

They look like they were rolled in mud before stacked for the picture.

Sorry but you are wrong. That is called Patina and is a visual enhancement.

    This is great!

    "Ridiculous "offers" are always ignored"

$3500 isn't ridiculous? I guess you can ask whatever you want, maybe someone really wants THAT pair.

Yeah you go to current models and see 12g and then offer everyone a real deal for 25% of new while never checking to see what they go for.

Did you ask if that was for two or 3 Pair? You might be missing out.   A little detective work goes a long way sometimes.

Hmmm I never thought about that. And they are sequential numbers so you might have four or six matching bookend black speakers.

  5. If you are good at doing these things and have a well thought out plan like Chris A did whack on those 402's. Otherwise leave them alone and find a good 2" driver and be done with it. I cant believe a cobbled together K-55 + K-77 would ever do anything worthwhile on a 402 horn. Out of morbid curiosity though if you do chop on those get some pictures and post them and the results here.

Those are my speakers. I bought them to downsize from Chorus 2 in my living room, but I got used to the La Scala’s sound in my shop. Would love to find a set of LS2 for my house now.

Well two sets are better than one I always said. For the house you need a set of KP-450's or KPT-904's. Or a set of MCM 1900's and then you never have to do it again. In a big living room or sound room you might squeeze in a set of Super MWM's.  The bigger the better.

I would have to hear a pair of IV's along side my III's to make any kind of decision on which is better.

Hearing in person is the best determinant. That being said though I can say 30 out of 30 listeners in Roy's demo of  H3 vs H4 would state with no reservation the improvements were huge. Now I could be wrong  but I doubt it. I think it is safe to say the improvement is large enough that once you hear the H4 you won't need to place it in your room with your amp and do a side by side. We did get to hear side by side same music same room and amp and one after the other and there is just no doubt the H4 beats the H3 with a big audio stick.

I'll tell you folks, these things sound great, even in that small space.  Give them a little room to breathe, and no doubt they will shine.....Almost wish I wasn't going to the Masters after SWAG so I could take them home.....Nahhhhh.

You were saving your space for Tennessee anyway. ;)

Or does anyone make wood tractrix horns to custom dimensions?

Sure but how much money do you think something like that would run? Also to fit that exact opening you have to machine a flange in there and the cutout depth for that is probably 1/4" at best. That is too thin for wood.

  10. It is possible the plenum could be shifted over and still stay in the 60" wide footprint but it wont be by much. Good idea though as all additional distance helps and it would also reduce the angle of the turn some and that has to help too. Eyeballing it I think a bit over an inch shift would be it though.

  11. I had a set of three way stacks with the Klipsch OEM crossovers. Sounded really good. I then went and built a pair of Super MWM's and stuck a 402 horn on top. This meant I had to look into time aligning which can't be done with crossovers. Long story short I would never have a system like this without using a Xilica or similar and going active. Plus that Xilica can be used with anything.

Having been on both sides of the fence the hassle and extra expense of learning to bi amp and using the Xilica is totally worth it.

These MCM's are epic systems and once you go there you can't go back.

  12. As I go through recent purchases and the dead bodies pile up I can bring some project boxes for people. These are free and if there are no takers the ridge top audio graveyard gets them. Two old KP-201's no grilles no stuff just boxes. Two empty KPT200 boxes. Might be one or two 415 bass bins. Klipsch want almost $300 PER woofer so these will not be repaired. They will not go to Hope unless someone commits to taking them. Yes I can provide pictures.

The past efforts to give things away has been met with utter shock and dismay when people find out I am serious about how long they have to make up their minds and yes if you fiddle fart around for a half year and then decide you might want them forget it.

Maybe if you can get the sound wave to anchor itself to the end of the wall on the right and pivot there while the left side swings a 180 through the bends.  Even if that were possible to do it looks like the expansion rate through the turn will not be well maintained.  Not that I have a better alternative in mind.

Well it is a heck of a lot better than a basically 180 degree turn with a splitter which is what the S-MWM's had.

Based on what I learned with the S-MWM's these  things you mention do not concern me at all. The main concern through the turns is that it never gets smaller. In this case it is the equal of the expansion rate in the plenum and less than the main chamber but it does always expand.
