  1. 19.5" ID. I figure one dimension is good enough especially since there is continuous expansion now. Sloping the top is more than I care to try.
  2. I might if I can get those K-510's to sound right. I have a set of KPT-450 tops that could work in a pinch. Those have good crossovers and sound right.
  3. OK now that works. Teufelstanz is another group in that vein.
  4. Square corner stronger than pointed one. Also if I do elect to stand it up on edge I like the square corner look. I doubt the shape of the back chamber amounts to much as long as volume is there. There is no way to do that without losing throat distance which then reduces bass and bass was the whole reason for building this. I have no final parallel walls in this version just continuous expansion from beginning to end.
  5. Got to thinking the other day about how to squeeze more out of the envelope and Claude's Quarter Pie idea and came up with this. Basically the same travel as the S-MWM but consistent expansion whereas the S-MWM does choke that off at the end. Have to get Claude to validate this reasoning and if it will do what I think it will should work very well. Simpler to build and will be at SWAG next year if the concept is valid. It would be cool to go down to 20hz with a single fold horn. This would also lend itself better to standing up on one edge and taking up less floor space. My understanding of deeper bass is that it is kind of omni-directional and that hard floor surfaces right in front of bass bins can cause problems. So my reasoning is that if I lay the plenum side on the floor it will then be aimed away from the floor eliminating some of the floor reflections and saving space. Another thing I am thinking of here is a comment by Roy where he said he kind of thinks about sound travel like water if I remember right. This variation would allow me to use a curved deflector on the back side although to maintain constant expansion it might require shortening the plenum. Personally I am leaning towards maximum plenum length and leaving it like it is right now unless I am told otherwise. @ClaudeJ1
  6. Forte II single has been recapped and sounds very nice as you would expect. I am probably going to stop right here on improvements and list them locally on Craigslist today or tomorrow. I will post a link to the ad which will have pictures. FORTE IS SOLD
  7. I have been without much luck though.
  8. Carmina Burana I made it through about 20 seconds of the chorus as that is really not my cup of tea. The thing I am looking for would be focused on drums and not having drums as a small part of the overall music.
  9. Les Preludes had some at the end but a lot of so so to get there. There are some Japanese big drum bits I have found but nothing ground shaking like I want for SWAG.
  10. True and until now I did not know what I was missing. OK where can I find good Timpani music? I want thunderous rolls to feed my S-MWM's with.
  11. It's not a matter of no idea it is the presence I now have when I play music. None of the other speakers I have gone through are even close.
  12. Adding to all this. I am finding with the S-MWM my tastes are changing and classical is getting more and more of my time. So many subtleties and powerful sweeping bass and love for what correct playing of stringed instruments like Cellos and Double Bass sounds like. Just so much more than the R&R which it is displacing.
  13. This rendition on this organ is tied for my all time favorite namely Powers. Found an album today where Powers plays T&F in d minor on 14 different organs.
  14. When you consider how much used Klipsch has gone up they are not high. When you consider that used Heresy's are now mostly 5 to 600and up they are not high. people who think things have gotten ( not saying you Tom just people in general) to high were asleep at the wheel and waiting for deals that wont ever be back unless you are super lucky.
  15. E Power Biggs for best rendition of Toccata in D Minor I have ever heard. The right recording of Vivaldi Cello right behind it. Here is an organ I wish I could find more music for. This one is going to SWAG and let me tell you it is fabulous. I think I will go out and play it again shortly. Enrico Dindo has a Cello from the early 1700's and the tone is perhaps my favorite of all the Cellos i have heard.
  16. I have a really nice Forte II in Walnut. Excellent pattern and no damage anywhere except for some very small pickouts on the base. You would be hard pressed to find better. I have not done anything to them yet but will shortly begin the upgrade process. As it is $350. + recap and LMAHL V2 + L-Pad will be $525.00. If you are looking for a center channel this could be it. Yes of course I can bring it to Hope. If anyone is interested I will get pictures posted.
  17. Well Woofer and Tweeters may have something to say about that.
  18. That's what I thought too. At least as far as the drive to me.

Kirby and I were talking about MDF the other day. I took him outside to my flatbed trailer and showed him a piece of 3/4" baltic birch under the tongue jack where it has been for months in a very wet period and with freezing and thawing. There it sits stained but otherwise as good as new. No delamination no warping no rotting. You want strength in all ways and good acoustics BB is what I choose to use. Here in Nashville this is what the lumber yards tell me. MDF goes into car boom boxes and BB goes into speaker cabinets. They sell so much BB that even with the 9.75% tax a 60" x 60" x 25mm sheet costs $48.00 out the door. Music City has spoken and it's preference is BB.
  20. Mine grew after the S-MWM's and I find myself looking for helicopters, artillery, thunderstorms, double bass, organ music and yes the other day carillon music. Looking for big deep bells. Trying to find worthwhile tympani and all I get is junk and some what interesting Japanese drums. I did find this amusing video though in one of my searches. 21. I am interested in those types of things. Mind blowing fidelity is what I want.
  22. I am thinking these were just placed in there loose and as brittle as they are that was the end of that. Rigma sold a bunch of 510 horns that were lose in a load to a forum member and when he got home they were all toast. I have some 510's right now and they are dangerously brittle. Popouts around screw holes easy to do and mounting flanges are EASY to crack. You get any of these old horns be forewarned to be very careful.

Hmmm, so all that work for a tiny reduction?
