  1. Sold +++ RF-83 black, excellent condition. ++++
  2. Hope everybody had a good Christmas in 2022. My Marantz 6011 9.2 AVR quit working a few days ago and I'm looking for a similar replacement. I'm open to any of the major brands. What have you got that you no longer need? Send me a PM if you have something. Thanks! -Dave
  3. That's an odd thing for a doctor to say. It's not like you have to study for the dang thing. The PSA produces a number via a simple but extensive blood test. FYI my prostate was nuked with radiation at age 63. I'm 66 now. They couldn't use the Da Vinci robot to take mine out because of scarring when my colon cancer required surgery.
  4. The USPS M.O. is not mailed. You physically go to your local post office and plunk down your hundred bucks cash (for example) and you pay about three bucks for the service. The post office issues you a USPS official check and it's good as gold like a certified bank check. The post office has your hundred bucks and you have a check that can be cashed anywhere by anyone. I've used them a few times while buying used speakers.
  5. Agreed! The USPS Money Order is a best kept secret and as far as I know, utterly safe.
  6. I use PP or Cash for speaker transactions or for small dollar transactions on internet forums. I've seen scammers trying to use Venmo so I avoid it for that reason. I just don't know enough about it. Still, it would be nice to find an alternative which is SAFE and cheap. I don't mind paying a little extra for protection from scammers.
  7. I could be very happy with a 3.1. However, due to the influences of keeping up with the Joneses around here, I've got just a few more speakers and subs past the 3.1. I like your choices.
  8. 'zactly! ^^^ You just state it much more eloquently than I do. 🤜🤛
  9. An RC-64 can keep up with the LS. I had mine between some Khorns and the listening experience was excellent. I've found "timbre matching" over rated. The L/R already play discrete audio information and in HT that usually means music. They don't play a lot of dialog, that's the job of the center. And the center doesn't play music. What you want from your center is crystal clear dialog, accurate sounding voices. It doesn't matter if the L/R can do that or not. The center speaker is the star of the show. Ninety percent of dialog/vocals come out of the center speaker and 90% of TV/movies is dialog. Get the best center speaker you can afford.
  10. With or without the smirky, I knew what you meant about "break-in", either way. 😎 🤜🤛
  11. Uh no, they did not break-in THAT much. (RP-600M II). My first gen 600M's sounded a little better after a month but they were 99% good to go right out of the box. Agree with you that they don't sound like Heritage when played as L/R with an AVR. They sound excellent standalone. I don't use tubes so I bow to your experience on that. Using the 600M as L/R w/Sub the characteristic sound is a LOT like my RF-83's, $2500 speakers when new.
  12. Great transaction you guys. Cheers to Emile for making it available to a forum member at virtually no cost. 👍👍
  13. I love Home Free. They were here two days ago in Vienna, West Virginia July 2. God Bless the USA was their closer. The genre as they said during the concert is country acapella, the only known group doing this. This was the best open air concert I've ever heard. Vocals were perfect, the sound crew mixed it perfectly for a listening, crystal clear without blasting it. It was no louder than 98 db peak, which is entirely pleasant for an outdoor venue at 30 yards. I usually expect an acapella group with vocals that tight to be a studio band. In this case live! AND outdoors they sounded exactly like their Youtube videos. Just spectacular. All of their videos are great, the concert was great. Go see them if you get a chance. +++ Thanks so much for posting that, I had not seen that. That was the version they sang two days ago live! on stage. Here is the studio version I had previously heard, featuring Lee Greenwood and the United States Air Force band.
  14. Now for something different in Youtube Spinning. I didn't get them all but I got a lot. Maybe 75-80%.
  15. The reason I suggested that is because I read where Onk may be having HDMI problems again. I had the Onk 717 which had the dreaded HDMI daughterboard problems which killed the sound. The problems with the modern Onk seemed to be the HDMI sources changing on their own, not the problem you describe. Still, I didn't think it would hurt to try.
  16. If you've achieved success with the sub for testing then to my way of thinking you've eliminated several variables. Something about the way you describe the problem makes me think way back to the early days of computer sound cards. It seems to me there was one output with an 1/8th inch plug which was used for both the center channel and the sub. Somehow in the computer's software if you chose the wrong setting it would do exactly as you describe, the sub was barely audible. That's so far back, maybe to the 90's I can't imagine any modern AVR having that particular idiosyncrasy. I used to own an Onk 717 but it didn't have any problems outputting to a sub. Is there an Onkyo group you can check out, such as AVSForum.com where others might have experienced the same problem? What is your source? Is it your computer? Edit: Are you connected by HDMI? Do you have a SPDIF optical cable you might try just to eliminate that variable?
  17. Is there any reason you can't use Emile's idea? ^^^ I also have turned large speakers on their side. Maybe not perfect by some metric but to my ears it sounded pretty good. CF-4's as L/R. Dual 12" woofers
  18. Emil I'm looking at the SA 1000 as a possible problem in terms of setup. I presume you used an RCA M/M to go from AVR sub-out to SA1000 sub-in. From there it should be RCA M/M OUT from either LFE or Red to the sub. I also presume the sub is a DIY with an RCA Female connector. Remember if sealed sub use bass boost at 25 Hz. Ported, no boost. Confirm? Also you might consider using the high level inputs on the SA1000 which many consider the best way to connect to a sub.
  19. The quick answer is "yes" the MTM 600C can be used as a L/C/R. I would not advise it as the Klipsch center speaker is voiced to be a center, not a main. I can't answer technically but a good guess would be that the 600C would not dig as deep as mains and the voicing would be geared towards reproducing male and female voices and vocals in the mid range. Minor thread drift: I tend to like the timbre in center speakers with 6 to 7 inch woofers. I use the RC-64 III which uses four 6.5" woofs.
  20. Agree with you on all counts. 👍
  21. When I read your post I was thinking we hadn't heard from you for a while. And you broke your neck? Holy cow! Glad you are on the mend, my friend. -Dave
  22. Paul has some thoughts on this. I am not recommending for or against his opinion, I am simply passing along the video. The viewer can make up his own mind.
  23. R = entry level RP = Mid tier RF and RC = Flagship models Unless Klipsch has changed their naming convention again.
  24. I don't have any experience with the kind of power strips you are describing but I searched Amazon "power strips commercial" and saw several which might meet your needs, including a medical grade power strip.
