  1. $750 for a single tweeter assembly that ships out of Ukraine right now is a "no-brainer?"
  2. I'm sure you're aware of the A55-g driver that when tested against an old k-55v it measured better but rumor has it when the diaphragm was replaced in the old k-55v it measured roughly the same as the new aftermarket replacement. @Deang should remember that as an early promoter of the back then new driver option.
  3. Pulled the passive to see if it would fit in my Chorus II, took a few pics of the insides. The crossover is huge.
  4. Ok so since I had not put reinstalled the kd-16 yet figured I'd see if the new passive would fit. It does not seem to be much bigger when stacked on the other passives maybe 1/8th of an inch if that? But it will not sit flush in the Chorus II some very minor shaving would have to be done.
  5. What I have pictured above are stock passives from the Chorus II and forte II, I have not pulled apart my forte IV's. I suppose I could lay the forte down and place these passives on top of the new passive to see any size differences?
  6. Well finally got around to comparing these two passives and just now noticed they have different baskets, at least the ones I have. The forte II passive kd-15 has more and thicker steel and is noticeably heavier. Weight wise it is roughly 8oz heavier but the basket itself is likely the cause of that.
  7. I know I've wanted to see (along with many others) a new Chorus model for a long time now but these new forte's seem to combine the best attributes of the older Chorus / forte line. To me, the forte II was a little dark with recessed mids, bass was lower and more present at lower volume but a little boomy as compared to the Chorus II. These new forte's have a very balanced sound top to bottom, very smooth with lots of very tight bass. I think the Chief did these guys right, about the only thing that could be gained by a larger 15" version would be higher output? Maybe a little larger voicing with the bigger mid horn and woofer? I believe the forte IV does this line justice the Chief really did do a fantastic job with these.
  8. Been listening to these things as much as possible and they are breaking in quite nicely. I can say the Chief hit this one out of the park they are filling out to a much bigger and deeper sound and bass is getting crazy good. The slight brightness has gone away- very smooth and detailed and did I mention the bass? I'm not sure I'd have this much improvement in the bass with an added subwoofer they will knock things down in my room. The bass reminds me a lot of the Chorus II bass but tighter and cleaner while still having that enveloping sensation.
  9. I agree whichever route you take whether new kd-15 or re-cone you should do both to keep the sound the same. If you purchase new kd-15's you could always sit on your good kd-16 just in case a used one in good shape ever pops up but they are extremely rare to find it could be years. Of course the @Chief bonehead could always do us a solid and put the kd-16 back into production for the Chorus IV with the k603 horn..
  10. Out of the box they sound very similar to the 362's- After listening for a bit they are more detailed, refined. Bass is lower but not as impactful but they only have a few hours on them. Certain "bassy" songs really came through though and reminded me of my Chorus II cabinets with the enveloping bass growl / rumble. I suspect the differences I'm hearing is probably very similar to what the forte III people experience installing the forte IV kit, or at least I imagine it so. No doubt the forte IV's are very nice sounding speakers but to me, at least so far the 362's aren't that far behind.
  11. I guess I have to upload one at a time?
  12. I tried posting a couple and they wouldn't upload, I'll try again here.
  13. They arrived a day early I sat and listened to them for a few hours last night.
  14. I bought a stock forte II passive some time ago my plan was to weigh the thing so I can compare it to one of my Chorus II passives to determine how close they are and which one weighs more. If the Chorus passive is the one that weighs more than a forte passive will work with some added weight. If it's the other way around not sure how you'd shave any weight off unless you dug the whole thing out. Now that my Choruses are out of circulation for a bit might pull one of the passives and get some numbers going.
  15. It's ok man I'm excited to check them out, really curious how much of a difference there will be from the 362's. Looking at the parts of the 362's they seem close to the Cornwall III or maybe the forte III? A lot of people claim there is a huge difference between the forte III and IV with the new crossover, mid drivers and tweeter phase plug. Just the lower crossover points alone should be noticeable the mids on the 362's don't pick up until 1200hz where as the forte is 650hz. I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for Santa to arrive, which should be Tuesday.
  16. Thanks man! I'm not sure what to think should be interesting have you heard the new forte's? I imagine bass might be the biggest difference with lower tuning and the rear passive. EDIT: I should add that I'm very happy with the 362's I just couldn't pass this deal up, another one of those where I should have no problem moving them along if they don't work out and not lose my *** in the process.
  17. Well a deal came up I couldn't pass up on a brand new pair they shipped out today. I've wanted a pair since they were introduced but waited patiently for the right deal. Should be interesting to compare them to the new 362's and others I have sitting around.
  18. This is the only thing that matters-- that it sounds good to you in your room with your speakers. I would ignore the naysayers especially those who build and sell their own gear for profit kind of funny how they can criticize others for trying to make a buck what do they say about glass houses? In this day and age there are a lot of good quality options out there for just about any budget, no one has the corner on the market for good sound.
  19. I believe @Schu added tweeters to his UJ I assume for this reason
  20. They made a ki-262 and the current model is the ki-262-II: https://assets.klipsch.com/product-specsheets/KI-262-SMA-II-Data-Sheet-v04.pdf
  21. I believe the Cornwall II was discontinued in 1990 IIRC As stated by others in this thread the forte was released a couple years earlier than the original Chorus but in 1989 Klipsch released the Quartet, forte II and the Chorus II all together.
  22. I have a pair of 301-II's at my MT home that I fully restored a few years ago and they are one of my favorite all time speakers. I had thought about maybe replacing them with these new 362's but after listening to them again while I was there I was reminded of just how good they sound and while I was unable to do a direct comparison I no longer felt the need to replace them either. I would list the changes but don't want to get this thread shut down.
