My denon avr4311ci does an excellent job in two channel, but my previous onkyo (forget model) sucked. It was not top of the line, not even close though. I think the best avr's can handle 2 channel duty just fine

Comparing cars to speakers is apples and oranges as they say. I find it amazing that a 70 year old design blows away 99 percent of what's available today. If you've never heard heritage Klipsch you're really missing out

Just read Paul Klipsch biography. Enjoyed it tremendously

I know this is an old post now but just wanted to update on the situation. I do get dolby digital on all premium channels and ppv now. Guess they did some kind of software update

Not a Klipsch ? but they don't make 5.1 with eq
nitrofan replied to Futurist's topic in Home Theater
I think you just are not in the right menu maybe. I can eq each channel differently if I choose to on my 4311ci -
Have you hooked up the rc7 yet. Like you I went from rc3 to rc7 and the difference was incredible. Hope you have the same results

Audyssey Trims Bottomed Out for LaScalas and Subs
nitrofan replied to Youthman's topic in Home Theater
Sorry don't mean to hijack but the previous comments made me think. I went from 7.2 to 5.2 with my denon avr4311. So should I expect more performance from it since it's driving 2 fewer speakers? -
My vote for best center is rc7

Finally some people who agree with me about audyssey. Cory said it best, it neuters Klipsch to the point they no longer sound like Klipsch is supposed to sound.

Audyssey Trims Bottomed Out for LaScalas and Subs
nitrofan replied to Youthman's topic in Home Theater
Yes i would think that youth. Many will disagree with me but i absolutely hate audyssey. My system never sounded worse than when i used it to set the levels and eq. No bass, no highs, just muddy lifeless midrange. Set it up the way it sounds best to your ears in your listening position and forget it. -
If these were in Florida they would be mine by morning

And close the door, we can't cool off the whole neighborhood

Time for a refresh! Home Theater Recommendations

Lone survivor is a great movie to show off your theater's capabilities. Love it -
Most people would agree with you oldtimer but i think it's gorgeous

Hurricane hunter flying today. Came over couple of hours ago

Stop using room correction software and set them up to your liking with the eq and loudness levels in your avr. Audyssey males my system sound like bose, or worse

Billybob they know about the issue,it's all over their forums and there is no solution at this time. Maybe a software release in the future but who knows. I just can't believe in this day and time a company the size of cox would offer such a service. I mean 2 channel stereo on premium shows, cmon man!

Ok so i just moved a couple of weeks ago and my wife wanted to change from Uverse to Cox for tv and internet so we did. Uverse internet is not very good i admit, but i had no problems with their tv. So we got the latest most awesome contour 2 hd dvr in three rooms, great right? Not exactly. First of all i lost AXS tv and Audience, both great for concerts. But the biggest problem is that on on demand or pay per view channels audio is only output in two channel stereo. No dolby digital on movies that you pay $7.99 for? Does that make any sense? After an hour and a half on the phone with someone who i don't think ever understood what i was telling her she offered to downgrade us to the older box but my wife won't have that because of it's limited recording capabilities. Anyone have experience with Direct TV or Dish network have any advice please.

I moved about a quarter mile from the back gate at pensacola nas. Get to see the blues all the time plus other stuff. Love it! Makes me proud to live here.

Oh almost forgot to tell you about this. Rocksmith 2014,most useful thing i have tried or bought while learning guitar. With the included cable you can play through your home theater setup while playing the game or just pause and play whatever you like. Even my poor playing sounds awesome coming through the lascala's. And you don't have to worry about the problems that can come about from trying to hook up directly to your avr.
