  4. Good Saturday to all... What a great weekend this is gonna be... weather wise... Got a few friends coming over this evening for a back yard fire. But not just any fire..... a Disk Fire!! That's right a Disk Fire... what is a disk fire you say???? I am proclaiming my self inventor of this "Disk Fire". It came too me a few weeks back when I built the 1st one. I got a small Oak tree taken down that was next to the house. The tree was dead big time... The tree guys left the wood for me. It had a maybe a 10" dia. at the base. So again not real big. So it just came to me... what if I cut the the logs into disks about two inches thick or so..... stack the disks into a circle for the base and just work my way up... making it smaller as I go up... like a cone shape. The inside of this cone is hollow so I filled up the inside with all the sawdust from the disks I cut up. I put some other wood inside also. Once complete I soaked the top with lighter fluid and set it on fire. It took alittle while for it to get going.... but once it did it burned great... as it burns the disks just fall into the center and burn. My friends that came over that night were quite impressed with this Disk Fire. I'll put some pics up later of the Disk Fire.... gotta get out and start cutting some disks.... the tree that i had taken down is gone. So last week I took the old Ford down the road next to the shop into the woods and cut down a few old dead trees. Later... MKP :-)

  9. yea same here... I'm gonna be working on the Billy Goat leaf soon. gotta make sure it starts and runs... I mount it on my truck and load leaves in the back. Got side all around my truck bed... then off to the dump with em.. it's a battle every year. It's kinda fun for about a hour or so sucking up those leaves.... then it gets old real quick lol lol MKP :-)
  10. Well it looks like Yelp is up to it's tricks again..... If you guys remember we had an issue with some Yelp reviews a few months back. This "A" hole slammed us and got his two kids to cut and past his review as there own. Now this is ! He has the right to leave his review but his two kids that have never been to my shop. So after a big battle with Yelp they took down the bogus reviews. Today my wife finds one of the bogus reviews up again. Yelp is a scam!!! they want you to advertise through them and if you don't they won't take the phony reviews down. They have even taken down my good reviews from my real customers. They tell me the reviews are "Too Good" WHAT THE....... MKP :-) And the one customer that says she loves me and my shop gave me only 3 stars.... every time there in the shop they tell me how great I am but again only 3 stars... I don't get it We have 3 pages of reviews "not recommended" by Yelp. They have suppressed them..... all 5 stars... Some were from my Klipsch peeps when we had the issue. But most from my real customers...
  11. It's been OK.... been kinda hit and miss... I talk to the vendors that come around the shop and they tell me most shops are the same around town.... one day there jammed with work the next day there mechanics are standing around with there finger up there...... One thing that's good with my shop is I'm the only mechanic.... so I don't have guys all pissed off if no work is coming in. Even back in my dealer days I remember days when I would produce 20+ labor hours in one day and the next day I might do 3 or 4 labor hours..... it is what it is..... Yesterday the used car guys kept me busy..... most of the time it's real easy work for those guys.... I do 99% of the work for those guys. Once and awhile there be a job that I can't handle or I want no parts of. I try to do most of it for em.... but if I think it's gonna get my shop all twisted up, I'm out. We're taking the day off today. There is a shop owner thing down town that we're going to. All kind of vendors will be there.... from shop equipment to parts to credit card processing... We have no plans on getting anything but it's good to see what's new... MKP :-)

  18. It's not just about the work load.... I could always use more work. I just stack em up. But it's the damn people... You get three or four "A" holes and it really gets to ya. My wife went off on some woman the other day. Most of the time it rolls off my back like water off a duck. But in the in the last several months it's been getting to the both of us. I keep hearing the words my old service manager would say to me when I was back at the Honda dealer..... Tim would say "this too shall pass" ...... and it will. I used to love my shop..... and working on cars..... helping people..... but after 34 years of doing this I'm kinda getting tired. This is our 20th year of having the shop. I can't believe how quick it's gone by. I went to a seminar the other night on trouble shooting hard problems... Lots of E-vap, missfire, and fuel trim was covered. I was a big wake up call to me on how far out of the loop I am. I'm no dummy but I haven't been to any "real" school in 20 years. I read alot out of my trade publications and I try to keep up. But cars are changing so quick. I had a 2016 Civic in the shop not that long ago just for a oil change. I popped the hood open and I said to myself....... "this aint no Honda". All I could see was GM engineering all over it except for the European rear braking system Anyway..... it is what it is.... MKP :-)
