  1. Personally, I don't think I've ever spent more than about $60 wiring an entire room (speaker wire)...maybe $75 if I did something stupid and cut the wires wrong...
  2. I was thinking more along the lines of $0.80 a foot myself John!
  3. Positive on the no towers part? If I recall correctly these were barely 6" tall. Otherwise I'd assume you'd be going the route of a laptop like format. ETA: There are also some really slick looking mini computers that are expandable that are no bigger than a router - I want to say Lenovo makes them.
  4. Might see if you can find one of the old Compaq towers and piece together your own unit. Shouldn't be too expensive for what you need to do, and I bet you could find the casing for a couple of dollars.
  5. These would be my excuse to remove the Jamo speakers from my house.
  6. Yeah, I hear that. Hopefully the 3's are small enough for him to leave for someone else.
  7. Right on, good to know I'm not the only one floating around in Eastern Iowa. If you don't take 'em I will!
  8. Beat me to it Rock...you in the Quad Cities too?
  9. I was never personally a fan of what they had to offer, but I haven't kept up with them since '03. Is this to replace your RX-A2030?
  10. My understanding is that multiple sources out from a component not designed to have multiple outputs can hinder audio and visual quality. I remember distinctively reading that when I still had my Yamaha PS-DVD Changer - "Use either Component or Composite outputs" - same with audio.
  11. So, I recently got ahold of an RC-3 II (finally) that simply is missing the Klipsch emblem from the speaker grill. Do I try my luck getting in touch with Klipsch to order a new emblem, or start seeing if I can find a replacement grill somewhere? Who should I get in touch with on Klipsch's end?
  12. Why wait... Just pull the optical cable and start using your HDMI cables... Unless you don't have HDMI..im using hdmi out to projector, but optical out to amp. amp doesn't have hdmi yet. Dude you need a new avr now! lol jk but HD audio on your rig will be a really nice upgrade. Get an avr with two hdmi outs. Run one to the projector and the other to what ever else you want. I know I do too. lol I'm working on it...planning on going up to a Marantz SR700X series.
  13. If I was already working again...these would be gone already. Darn.
  14. Good to know. Might just have been the receivers that I tried HDMI on. May end up dropping optics on my next setup then.
  15. Digital Optic I hope. I'm still not entirely sold that HDMI produces better audio than Optical.
  16. Came across this on one of the Audiophile Facebook groups: $38,000 for speaker wire. I can't believe some of the people swearing that it's worth that price - that they can tell it sounds $38,000 better. I'm trying to wrap my mind around how someone justifies the expense - regardless of how much their setup cost otherwise.
  17. Yes, they shipped very well. I told them I was a member of the Klipsch "forum." Best take care of the pretzels sent to the Brotherhood of Klipsch.
  18. Did they ship well then? I was kind of irked that they might get crunched in transit.
  19. Or both...or more....and then some. I feel so much better about myself suddenly...
  20. I love how fast this topic turned audio-dirty.
  21. I really felt the need to share this with all of you... http://www.carreview.com/cat/car-audio/subwoofers/clarion/srw8000-32-subwoofer/prd_10400_1808crx.aspx Apparently there was so much bass that it made these people stupid.
  22. We have a chemistry professor at school that is a total audio buff. He passed along those audiophile magazines to me all the time - I eventually just got into the habit of smiling and then leaving them behind. Was never much worth reading in them.
