  1. I'm drooling over that RSW...if only I had the cash I'd be all over that...
  2. I am new to the idea of x.2 (or greater) home theater setups. Since I started dabbling with it eleven years ago, I've always gone with simply using a 5.1 setup. However, it seems more and more people are using 2 or more subwoofers in their setup. As it stands right now, I have no intention of adding a second sub to my setup as my room does not require it. That being said...I've also noticed some people mixing brands and lines of subwoofers. My question is, what is the key component to look for when matching subwoofers to your system? Do you pay attention to driver sizes in the case of subwoofers? Crossover range? Help me figure out what things I need to look for to make the right selection later on.
  3. I was 15 and we had just gotten new neighbors next door. That's the first and only time I'd ever had anyone complain at 830. Apparently some people just don't enjoy good music when it comes knocking like I do. Then again, I used to get in stereo wars with my brother - and this past year with my neighbors in the apartment next to me on campus.
  4. Excellent deal. If I'd have had the extra money, and this had been three days earlier, I'd have gotten them myself.
  5. I normally am in St. Louis for school, but my financial aid didn't go through this year.
  6. I think just about all of us would. I mean, come on...just look at them. Is that not one of the most beautiful things you've ever seen in your life?
  7. Preach it brother! My mother bought me my first horn at 9, stepped me up when I was 15, and I played right through high school. I still do every once in a while now.
  8. I agree with wvu80 - but for sure would use Bach. I have two myself (one used - Brass, one new - Silver) and they both handle a lot better than any others that I've tried in the past. They're also fairly reasonably priced new or used. My recommendation is going Brass for a beginner.
  9. Kind of like the guys on eBay asking for a ton of money for damaged Reference speakers. lol
  10. I can cross RS-3's off my list, as I just landed a pair for $250 with boxes and shipping. Pretty damn happy with that.
  11. This just came across eBay, looks like a pretty good deal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Klipsch-Reference-RB5II-mains-RC3II-Center-RS3II-Surrounds-5-Speaker-Set-/141381950215?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:US:3160
  12. ^ You made me happy. Then you made me sad... Then you made me cry and feel deep shame and depression.
  13. I'm pretty damn jealous of you honestly... Welcome btw.
  14. Ah okay. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  15. Good luck on finding RP's man...lol
  16. I don't have trust issues with current Klipsch products. I currently own RS-42 II's, and RC-52 II and RSX-4's. My trust issues lie with the fact that I personally find more security in a product manufactured state side, in addition to the fact that Promedia setups tend to have the most issues of almost any Klipsch product. I'm not saying they're bad, but I am saying they're not built like the rest of the products that are manufactured. I'd also like to add that the remark was in direction towards amplified speakers. Simply because someone has trust issues with a foreign product does not make their trust issues unwarranted.
  17. The new reference line isn't in question here.
  18. In the case of the ProMedia's, they're built and manufactured in China. That's a long way from home - and I don't exactly trust the quality of a product assembled in China - parts in US or not.
  19. This. It's probably the best idea to cover things for the time being.
  20. The only thing I can say about the pro media systems is that it's likely due to where they're built. I have a Promedia setup, and it can't hold a candle to any of my setups at home. The controller is shotty, and the woofer is touchy - however...it sounds many times better than anything else I've had access to for easy-to-move speakers. As for subs, I've heard a few bad things, but many good things - particularly the old RSW 10's, 12's, and 15's (amazing subs). Likewise I have heard a few of the SW subs and not liked what I heard - personally. But I'd chalk that up to again, where they're built.
  21. My thoughts exactly Matt! I've been obsessed with them myself since I discovered them shortly after I was gifted my RF-3's. No place in town ever had any of these but my curiosity is peaked at them. I've only seen these on eBay a couple of times since my search began in '06 and never have found any on CL. Makes me wonder a little why the RP's didn't continue to be made in any capacity, whether it's just because they didn't sell well or because there wasn't a high profit from them.
  22. No affiliation: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RP-5-Tower-Speakers-/181498806615?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item2a422c0157 Guy doesn't have any pictures of them posted, but if they're in decent shape at all it could be a deal. Obviously it's bidding so the price is bound to go up, but I haven't seen many get posted.
  23. Indeed. http://www.klipsch.com/Warranty-Passive-Speakers
  24. Inspect the speakers carefully, check for build integrity and driver quality. Examine stickers, serial numbers. Pay close attention to detail and make sure you bring some things to listen to that you yourself would enjoy so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.
  25. Well it was a camera phone, I realized late that the photo was crooked and the room is rather small. Lots of things working against me.
