  1. Check here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/ I researched the idea in depth when I had a back yard.
  2. Silver face... Modern tech... Great performance... Reasonable price. What else can you ask for? http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/rr2160.html I have the previous model (RR-2150) and have been VERY happy with it.
  3. I don't have a SPL meter so I don't know loudness by the numbers but I CAN tell you that a pair of 84 Heresys driven by an 80 WPC Integra amp can get the sheriff pounding on the front door. More than once.
  4. Not Marantz but you might want to consider this guy too: In a previous life I had one of these and found it to be an excellent CD\SACD\DVD-A player.

    What I Got Today!

Didn't actually get it today. It arrived the day before Hurricane Irma arrived. Needless to say I was a little busy before the storm and I've been fairly busy since. It was until this past Saturday that I took the time to unbox it and replace the U-Turn Audio Orbit table on the audio rack. It's a Pro-Ject 2Xperience DC Acryl. It came with an Ortofon 2M Red. I ordered my previous TT with a 2M Blue so I swapped the styluses (styli?). I already had the Ringmat. I've tried a number of different TT mats ranging from cork to felt to DIY and my ears like the Ringmat the best. I acquired the TT at a VERY good price as a "demo" from a well respected online audio seller. First album played 180G Steely Dan's Aja. Initial impressions... Considerably lower noise floor. I attribute this to the motor being de-coupled from the plinth. Not that the Orbit was bad just that the Pro-Ject is better. Now here's something I have no explaination for. Output being fed to the receiver seems to be much higher. I don't need to raise the volume nearly as high as I did with the Orbit to achieve the same volume level. Maybe it's cable resistance. Maybe it's cartridge "break in" (if you believe in such things). Maybe it's my imagination (I am coming up hard on 60) but I seem to be getting the same volume with the knob at ~10:00 that took the knob at 12:00 with the Orbit. For those interested the rest of the system consists of: An Outlaw Audio RR2150 receiver, an Oppo UDP-205 disc player & DAC, a pair of Klipsch RF-82 II speakers, and a Klipsh R-12SW subwoofer. All of the cabling is the best that Blue Jeans Cable has to offer except for the turntable which was a pretty nice unbranded cable that came with the TT. It all sits in a Pangea Audio Vulcan stand. Certainly not the best system or most expensive system I've ever owned but I'm pretty happy with it. Especially considering I live in one side of a duplex and really can't crank it up without my neighbor or a sheriff deputy pounding on my door. Before the new TT: The new TT: Spinning a little Steely Dan Aja Forgot to add... If anyone here is looking for a VERY nice "entry level" turntable package PM me. The Orbit along with a Cambridge Audio phono preamp will be going up for sale here soon.
  8. That cartridge can be upgraded with either a 2M Red stylus (~$90) or a 2M Blue (~200). I've listened to both and I can tell you that the Blue is a significant upgrade in overall detail. Good luck with your sale.
  9. You heard mine with a pair of La Scalas. That IB was a pair of Dayton 15" mounted to a manifold in the attic. It was driven by a 500 watt Behringer amp using a Behringer Feedback Destroyer as a crossover and EQ. As I recall you were pretty impressed. I say go for it. Jeff
  10. When I built my Cornscallas I used this stuff to line the the cabinet walls. https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-656/Paper-Cushioning/12-x-175-Cellulose-Wadding-Roll
  11. 3 new 180G albums in the last 2 days. Haven't spun any of them yet but I know what I'll be listening to while I clean the house tomorrow. Roger Waters: Is This The Life We Really Want Peter Gabriel: 4 Peter Gabriel: So
  12. Pretty sure those are original Cornwalls. Cornwall IIs weren't introduced until 1985 and had front mounted drivers. http://www.klipsch.com/products/cornwall-ii-floorstanding-speaker Either way I'm way jealous. I deeply regret selling my Cornwalls.
  13. Hope you enjoy your RR-2150 as much as I do mine. After just missing out on a couple of used one's (including this one) I ended up buying a new one. It's currently driving a pair of RF-82 II with a R-12SW filling out the bottom. Feeding the RR-2150 is a U-Turn Audio Orbit TT and an Oppo UDP-205. The system plays at least 4 hours (usually more) every day and I'm just purely digging it. Since that photo was taken I've installed a LG 55" 4K TV directly above the stereo and upgraded from a UDP-203 to a UDP 205. No updated photos but I can tell you that I'm still seriously impressed with the RR-2150
  14. PM sent and a Friday afternoon bump for you.
  15. Have you purchased any older movies that have been "remastered" to 4K? If so what was your experience with them? Is there a noticeable improvement over the BD version? I've been browsing Amazon's selection of 4K discs and I'm seeing a lot of my favorites that have been remastered to 4K. In particular movies along the line of: Men In Black, Ghostbusters, Independence Day, Labyrinth, the Bourne films, the Star Trek films, and the Star War films. The prices for the 4K versions range from reasonable to stupidly cheap. The reason for the questions is that in the I was an early Blu-ray adopter. As soon as Blade Runner was "remastered" to BD I paid an obscene amount of $$ to have one of the first copies. After all it IS probably my all time favorite move. To say that I was disappointed with the BD version would be and understatement. It was better than the DVD that I already had but only marginally so. I'm trying to not experience a repeat of that disappointment. If the 4K remasters of older movies aren't a significant improvement over the BD versions I'll just keep my $$ in the bank. The list of movies that I have bought more than once as formats advanced is VERY long. Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

    What I Got Today!

It was a good day today I received: 1) a Harmony 650 remote to clean up some of the remote clutter on my coffee table. Haven't programmed it yet. No picture. 2) a pair of Klipsch R-15M speakers for the bedroom PC sound system. Still in the box. Picture once I set them up and tidy up a bit. 3) The 4K UltraHD set of Planet Earth II. So far I've watched the first episode (of 6) and all I can say is WOW!!! If you have a 4K TV and a 4K DVD player the disk is a MUST HAVE. I have a fairly low end 55" LG TV and the picture quality simply blew me away.
