  1. I was really interested in both. I think the Rf7 must have been a different cl listing or something because I heard back from the guy and he sold them at 3pm to the first guy he showed them o. He was buying them for his nephew. The LA Scala was tough because the guy was older and had an attachment to them because they were his son's. He didn't want to budge on the price yet and they didn't sound fantastic the way they were set up. They hadn't been played for 9 years. Maybe they would have sounded great once I got them home, but too much of a risk for $1000. They were in decent shape cosmetically though. The rf-82iis come tomorrow and honestly $1000 is about as far as I can stretch for the foreseeable future. I hope I'll love them. When I get them and have some time to spend with them I'll give my thoughts on them and the rf-26fs as well. I'm listening to them right now and I have to say they continue to impress me.
  2. I dropped him an email to see if he still has them. Can't hurt.
  3. I don't change my mind, I never make it up in the first place. I look at it this way: for the same $900ish dollars I want to get the best possible speaker available to me. A few days ago, that was the 82ii, then suddenly this week there are two options used in my area that are up the line and in the same range. So to my mind I have to explore all those options before settling. It's all a game. I like the game.
  4. The seller on the la scalas wouldn't come off of $1000. He said he had another guy interested and wanted to wait it out.
  5. I do like to tinker a little. What kind of investment are we taking about to upgrade?
  6. Hmm. Everything I've read say they're good for music. I'm not a big bass head. I like stuff that's pretty life-like and neutral. I'm a sound engineer, among other things. Guess I'm wondering how they'd compare to the 82iis, which are delivering tomorrow but I could return.
  7. I kinda like black-matches my decor-, but it was hard to tell condition on the CL pics. Would it be possible to rfin myself if I wanted? I'm intrigued by them and might offer less to see if he'd go for it, but again, not sure it they are right for me. I'm relatively new to Klipsch and looking for something great for music mostly.
  8. Gorm, did you see the La Scalas on CL? What do you think of them?
  9. Or cost me a $129 cause that's how much more expensive the 82iis are.
  10. I'm very sad now...I live in Iowa City.
  11. Wait, the post went up yesterday and you got them? Arrrrgh!
  12. I'm working on making the cash available... yes, a tattoo. I got it done at Nemesis Studios in Iowa City. Pretty great work.
  13. So after not seeing any Klipsch on CL for a while suddenly there's all kinds of stuff popping up. RF-7 and RC-7 I just ordered a pair of RF 82iis that are being delivered tomorrow. These three speakers are less $$ than that pair. The CL listing a better deal? http://iowacity.craigslist.org/ele/4604729904.html
  14. Thanks for the advice. I was thinking that something a little more audio-centric might be a good choice. I was looking at the Marantz offerings. It looks like I could get the NR1403 for about $250, as it's an outdated model. But I don't want to go to a bunch of trouble to trade down or stay even in quality. From a cost/benefit standpoint, my sunk cost on the V675 hasn't balanced out quite yet, so it probably makes sense to hold onto it for a while from an economic standpoint.
  15. So I have some 82iis coming on Thursday. I've decided to run 2.1 for a while (maybe until I build a HT in the basement a few years hence). I care mostly about how music sound through the system. Gaming second and movies/TV last. Right now I have a ps4, Xbone running and a ProJect Debut Carbon TT. My amp is a Yamaha rx-v675 that I bought a year ago. Seems like overkill for my setup. I'm wondering if I should go after something less involved. I don't use any of the features I paid for when I got the Yammie. I wanted the best I could afford at the time and that was it. Now its depreciated by a few hundred bucks. I could certainly stick with it, but could also change if there's something better for tunes when matched with my incoming speakers. I like the sound OK, just having an "is the grass greener?" Moment.
  16. Heard back from seller, but wifely resistance was...high. Gonna have to put this one on the back burner.
  17. Haven't heard back from seller yet. :-(
  18. I might also become a homeless guy if my wife hears about this...
  19. Completely different animal. It's like saying "how does chocolate compare to vanilla". Without experiencing both first hand, it's hard to say. They sound completely different. Guess I'll have to wait and see if he gets back to me then.
  20. How would these compare to the rf-82iis? I have an email out to the seller. We'll see if he replies.
  21. Do you mean black? Of course I just spent $930 on a set of RF-82iis. Not sure how I could swing this deal.

  23. The Yamaha has the YPAO system, which is similar to Audessey. There's no obvious way to disable it, but I'm assuming that YPAO only sets levels and doesn't do any processing and when I set up in manual mode it undoes whatever YPAO has done.
  24. I care most about music. Gaming probably second. Movies and tv are not as big a deal.
