  1. I searched for any related threads without success so I was curious to hear if a speaker shootout was performed between the Chorus II's and the Cornwall III's.
  2. Updated to include woofer and driver types. "The 19's have the original 802-8g drivers and the 416-8B woofers."
  3. Since I downsized with a smaller listening room, It really saddens me that I have to do this but I am offering my Altec Model 19’s for sale. The speakers have been already upgraded with risers and binding posts on the back of the risers. Original crossovers are still included and new foams surrounding the horns were purchased two years ago. The 19's have the original 802-8g drivers and the 416-8B woofers. They sound beautiful after playing some Genesis “Trick of the Tail” but I can’t enjoy them no matter how many times I play with speaker placement. They are in excellent cosmetic condition with a tiny chip on one of the corners that can be seen in the pics. Horns are in great condition along with the woofers. Pictures in the post are for one of the speakers so more pics will follow for the second.I am selling them for $2,000 for local pickup in the Chicagoland area. If you have any questions or want more pics just let me know.
  4. I am hoping to see if I could trade my Marantz 2325 for a pair of Klipsch Chorus II's. The unit was fully restored and refurbished by Sound Classics in Rockford around 2012. All lamps work and it sounds great. No issues at all! I am in the Chicagoland Area so I will try to keep the deal local. Let me know if you need more pics or have any questions please let me know.
  5. Looking to purchase a pair of Chorus II's or Cornwall II mid 80's model. I have a pair of Altec 19's I am trying to unload so I doubt anyone would be interested in trading for the pair + cash. Hoping to do the deal in the Chicagoland area if possible.
  6. Looking to buy Pioneer turntable either the PL 540, 560, 610, or 630 from the late 70's. Hopeful to do a local deal around the Chicagoland area.
  7. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SALE
  8. Looking to buy a Sansui SR-636, 838 or 929 turntable. I have a pair of Dynaco A25's in excellent condition other than a little gash on one speaker that I can throw in for a trade plus cash. I am located in the Chicagoland area so I hope can do the deal locally.
  9. I have heard K-Horns twice in my life and was not impressed. This was possibly due to the owners not knowing the ideal listening room that is required. Both listening areas were in a all concrete basement with no treatments and cheap stereo equipment. I wish I could hear them in a proper setup. I have had Cornwalls and Chorus II's. Loved the Chorus II's but they are a ***** when it comes to speaker placement. Got rid of my Cornwalls before I ventured in tubes. I would love to make the plunge to K-Horns but my listening room is not suited for K-Horns.
  10. Looking to buy a pair of JBL L96 speakers. Hoping to do a local deal in the Chicagoland area.
  11. The Thorens 125 mkII is in excellent condition with original TP16 tonearm. There are a few light dings and scratches in the plinth and the dustcover is broken but the hinges remain intact so a new dustcover can be easily installed. The Thorens needs a new belt since its little stretched out. This unit comes with a Grado Red cartridge. I have included some pictures so if you have any questions or need additional pictures please let me know. I apologize if the pictures are not great. I would like to do a local sale in the Chicagoland area but I would be willing to drive 50 miles (if a little extra for gas money is thrown in) to meet up. I'm looking to sell for $400.
  12. Looking for a Sansui Eight or Eight deluxe solid state receiver in excellent condition.
  13. Looking to see if anyone has a Sansui Eight or Eight Deluxe receiver they might want to sell.
  14. Heard "Louder than Words" on the radio yesterday. I love Floyd but the song is kind of boring.
  15. I was wondering the same thing.... I already have a HH Scott 222b that has been fully restored that is my main tube amp for critical listening. The Fisher is nice but it does not measure up to the Scott and I only want one tube amp. I would like to get a solid state Marantz like the 2285b for a secondary system in my garage and I don't want to use the Fisher for backround noise. I think the Fisher should be put to better use.

  17. No light beer for me. Why would anyone want to drink watered down beer?
  18. The ones I heard at Klipsch HQ sounded awful, with very muddy bass. The Chorus line, as far as I'm concerned, will kick the Cornwalls to the curb. Much easier room placement, too. Bruce I have had 1979 Cornwalls and Chorus II's. Nothing beats the bass of the Cornwall. Not muddy at all and phenomenal presence. The best speaker to listen at lower volumes. Easy speaker placement. Throw in a corner and toed in... done. In a small room still sounds amazing! The Chorus II has better midrange than the Cornwall. Better speaker for heavy metal and hard rock for sure. Great and higher volumes pushing alot of power. Speaker placement was a *****. You need a very suitable listening room and not great in a small listening areas if you want to crank it. I enjoyed having both speakers but I'm in love with my Altec 19's.
