  1. I recently received a pair of IV's so I know I still have to break them in but I have found that the IV's are not as fussy when it comes to speaker placement compared to the II's. My listening space is 18.5 x 10 x 7.5 and I have the IV's 12'' from the back wall and 9'' from the side wall with a slight toe-in (for now as I will still be play around with speaker placement).
  2. I just received my pair of Forte IV's after having Forte II's for years. Before I purchased the IV's, I decided to go the small speaker route and purchased a pair of the new Mission 770's with a subwoofer. As the nice as the 770's sounded with exceptional detail but very polite, I was missing that live Klipsch sound that fills the room with ease. So I traded in the Mission's with a more than fair trade-in value for a pair of Forte IV's. I know I still have to break them in but I have found that the IV's are not as fussy when it comes to speaker placement compared to the II's. My listening space is 18.5 x 10 x 7.5 and I have the IV's 12'' from the back wall and 9'' from the side wall with a slight toe-in (for now as I will still be play around with speaker placement). I ran the speakers through my Sansui Eight Deluxe which is a great match but I also want to test with my Sansui Six as I think those Sansui single digit series receivers are great with Klipsch speakers. I did switch them to a Yamaha S-1200 which kind of opened them up a bit and the bass was more than satisfying which worried me because I ran the Yamaha on other speakers and the bass kind of fell short. Also the IV's sound better on low volume on the Yamaha than my II's ever did which is why I would switch the II's to the Sansui to activate the loudness button. So far, my impressions from my brief listening session is that the IV's are not a bright as the II's. They are slightly more detailed than the II's but I am sure they will reveal themselves after they have been broken in. I decided to switch on the subwoofer to see how it sounded but found out the bass is more than sufficient on the IV's leaving my subwoofer futile. However, I think the bass in the II's is a little heavier kind of leaning towards the boxier Cornwall bass sound but that could be the way II's were situated in my listening room. No complaints from me on the IV's bass. I know I need more time to test these babies out but my expectations have been exceeded because I was a little hesitant that my listening room would not accommodate the IV's but I think I can rest easy that they have found a home with a more than happy customer.
  3. I am selling my Klipsch Forte II's in walnut oil due to moving to a smaller listening space so I have no room for them. The Forte II's have the Crites titanium tweeter diaphragms and updated Crites crossovers. I still have the receipts. Also I have the old tweeter diaphragms if someone chooses to replace them. They still sound beautiful. I also have the grills but I forgot to take pictures so I will do that later. I am the second the owner and you will see there a couple of scratches on the speaker. Also, the original owner installed grilles over the passive radiator and those are in great shape. I live in Plainfield, IL and will be happy to audition them. At the moment I am not considering shipping them. If you need additional pictures please let me know. I am selling these for $900 so please reach out if you have any questions.
  4. I searched for any related threads without success so I was curious to hear if a speaker shootout was performed between the Chorus II's and the Cornwall III's.
  5. Updated to include woofer and driver types. "The 19's have the original 802-8g drivers and the 416-8B woofers."
  6. Since I downsized with a smaller listening room, It really saddens me that I have to do this but I am offering my Altec Model 19’s for sale. The speakers have been already upgraded with risers and binding posts on the back of the risers. Original crossovers are still included and new foams surrounding the horns were purchased two years ago. The 19's have the original 802-8g drivers and the 416-8B woofers. They sound beautiful after playing some Genesis “Trick of the Tail” but I can’t enjoy them no matter how many times I play with speaker placement. They are in excellent cosmetic condition with a tiny chip on one of the corners that can be seen in the pics. Horns are in great condition along with the woofers. Pictures in the post are for one of the speakers so more pics will follow for the second.I am selling them for $2,000 for local pickup in the Chicagoland area. If you have any questions or want more pics just let me know.
  7. I am hoping to see if I could trade my Marantz 2325 for a pair of Klipsch Chorus II's. The unit was fully restored and refurbished by Sound Classics in Rockford around 2012. All lamps work and it sounds great. No issues at all! I am in the Chicagoland Area so I will try to keep the deal local. Let me know if you need more pics or have any questions please let me know.
  8. Looking to purchase a pair of Chorus II's or Cornwall II mid 80's model. I have a pair of Altec 19's I am trying to unload so I doubt anyone would be interested in trading for the pair + cash. Hoping to do the deal in the Chicagoland area if possible.
  9. Looking to buy Pioneer turntable either the PL 540, 560, 610, or 630 from the late 70's. Hopeful to do a local deal around the Chicagoland area.
  10. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SALE
  11. Looking to buy a Sansui SR-636, 838 or 929 turntable. I have a pair of Dynaco A25's in excellent condition other than a little gash on one speaker that I can throw in for a trade plus cash. I am located in the Chicagoland area so I hope can do the deal locally.
  12. I have heard K-Horns twice in my life and was not impressed. This was possibly due to the owners not knowing the ideal listening room that is required. Both listening areas were in a all concrete basement with no treatments and cheap stereo equipment. I wish I could hear them in a proper setup. I have had Cornwalls and Chorus II's. Loved the Chorus II's but they are a ***** when it comes to speaker placement. Got rid of my Cornwalls before I ventured in tubes. I would love to make the plunge to K-Horns but my listening room is not suited for K-Horns.
  13. Looking to buy a pair of JBL L96 speakers. Hoping to do a local deal in the Chicagoland area.
  14. The Thorens 125 mkII is in excellent condition with original TP16 tonearm. There are a few light dings and scratches in the plinth and the dustcover is broken but the hinges remain intact so a new dustcover can be easily installed. The Thorens needs a new belt since its little stretched out. This unit comes with a Grado Red cartridge. I have included some pictures so if you have any questions or need additional pictures please let me know. I apologize if the pictures are not great. I would like to do a local sale in the Chicagoland area but I would be willing to drive 50 miles (if a little extra for gas money is thrown in) to meet up. I'm looking to sell for $400.
  15. Looking for a Sansui Eight or Eight deluxe solid state receiver in excellent condition.
  16. Looking to see if anyone has a Sansui Eight or Eight Deluxe receiver they might want to sell.
