  1. Thanks for the info. I'm going with the Outlaw cables for amplifier connections. May purchase a pair or two of the audioquest cables from the audioadvisor for a CD player I need to buy. Once I get my Pre/pro, I'm moving the Yammy and old CD player to the back porch for summer tunes at the pool.... Any good SACD / DVDA players out there? I've done a small amount of research but not near enough to this point. 2. Seb, The RF3II's will keep yoou good company. I also look to the day when RF7's are in the front and I will move the 3's to the rear. For the RB3, hav'nt listened to them although they do have a rear firing port if that makes a difference in your set up for centers. They should sound great. jim ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  3. Seb, I've got the RF3II's and the RC3II. I got to tell you the darn thing sounds great. Just got done watching Rush hour 2. Had to replay a couple of the bomb scenes. Anyway, are you buying from a dealer? If you are ceertainly they would let you upgrade to an RF7 if you'rrrr not happy. If not from a local dealer, there is always e-bay and this forum. Reference pieces won't last long at auction. 4. Looking for 1 meter interconnects for my soon to be arriving Acurus A125x5 amp. Who's got suggestions on a set of five for under $200.00??? Anyone selling good used out there??? Anyone using the Outlaw cables?? Thanks, jim
  5. Ther's an Outlaw 750 on e-bay ~ gone in 45 minutes. Didn't see anyone from this forum bidding. $$$ still short of the reserve. ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  6. Doug, Thanks for your help. Come to find out when I got home and checked my Yammy, it does have 5 line outputs for the speakers. I have to roll my 50" TV out of the home entertainment center to get a look at the back of my gear. Kind of a pain but this satisfies the wife with a nice clean appearance in the family room. Keep her happy and I can continue to upgrade my gear. Thanks, Jim
  7. Thanks Doug, Thats what I figured. Can I run my front speakers with the Acurus and the rear & center off the Yammy? Now for the pre/pro. I have the Outlaw 950 reserved, but would pass on it for something else of good quality. $1,000 is about the max. I read some reveiws on the Acurus Act III and was not impressed but someone could have had a bad day. Adcom has two available the GTP 760 @ $725 and GTP 830 @ $850, but I can't find any reviews. Need some help. I'm new into the digital stereo components,(as is proof with the old Yammy). There is alot out there. I would go with a 7.1 pre/pro so I could add a two channel amp and two more speakers later but only need 5.1. I do want something that will pass through the new audio formats, DVDA & SACD. (there are alot of new goodies on my list, can buy only one at a time) I'm guess the quality of your pre/pro is most critical at this point. 8. dougdrake, I believe all thats there is a stereo pre-amp output. This is an old (early 90's) dolby pro logic receiver. The Yammy has five channels of amplification but not five channel pre-amp hook ups. I'll check when I get home tonight. Thanks, Jim
  9. Need some help, purchased a used Acurus A125x5 and should receive it in a few days. My question is how too hook it up to my Yamaha 870 receiver. The Yammy is an old dolby surround. How will the amp get a singnal for all five speaker? I have to use the Yammy until I get a pre/pro. Secondly, does anyone have any experience with the Adcom GTP 760 and GTP 830 per/pro's. I have an Outlaw 950 reserved but who knows when my number will come up. Advice on a pre/pro? Thanks, Jim ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  10. Thanks Guys, I have been planning on buying an Outlaw 750, the Carver AV705 thing just popped up. Saw a couple for sale, checked out some older reviews and seemed like a good buy. I have also reserved the Outlaw 950 pre/pro. Who knows when that will show up. Any way, with Carver being out of business, I'm will more than likely become an Outlaw. Athough, Carver has some ex-tech employees who started their own repair business to support their products. (Pretty Cool). 11. Looking at these two used 5 channel amps. Can get the Carver AV 705 for less money, but have enough for the Outlaw 750. Both have good reviews. Like to hear what the forum has to say if the choice was yours. Maybe other 5 channel amps in this category. Thanks for the info.. ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  12. You are correct, the RB3 is not conducive to mounting flush on a wall with the rear firing port. I would guess, and this is a guess, that the minimum distance form the wall would be 6". RB3's should be on a stand or bookshelf. Later, ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  13. Similar to Jack, I've used banana plugs for the high end freq. but hard wired the lower freq. under the binding post. Not sure about your reciever but I woud guess you have binding posts that accecpt both. There are some stackable banana plugs available. Someone on this forum gave out a web site but I never looked into it. Iv'e never used pin connectors, they don't seem to have enough contact area, but there are many that use them. 14. John0392, I have my RS 3II's mounted on the side walls of my listneing area. The right rear is open behind the speaker but the left rear is about 10 inches from the rear corner with out any sound problmes. This is similar to what you are running into. I think the speaker design will compensate for various room configurations. (These speaker are certainly not designed for mounting vetically.) Go for it..
